It´s not necessary but try to engage your students. It is really easier whe you are with just one of them. makes the whole thing more enjoyable.
I think you'll remember more from the course when they bring up the topics they're having trouble with. Worst case scenario, if you don't remember much, ask for them to explain how much they know of the topic, or how they would try to approach the problem.
It has two purposes: gets them to think on their own and explain their approach, and gives you a chance to remember from the course.
I want to tutor for my school as a means of side income. Is it difficult? I think I can tutor calculus, but the thing that gets me is that I'm not sure I can explain why stuff is or their purpose in math. If I tutor someone in calc2 I can help them solve and explain the process but if I'm posed with the question of the why? Then...
