Hello /sci/,

I think I have found a direct proof of fermat's last theorem. It is only one page long but took me 3 days of thinking. After looking at it in retrospect, the solution seems very trivial - but I guess it's always so with NP-complete problems: Verifying is trivial.

There are two possibilities now: Either I am a complete retard or I was very lucky. In any case I have a couple questions for the case that I was lucky:

Is there a possibility to use it as a PhD thesis?
- If the theorem wasn't already proven then I know the answer would be yes. But it's only a much more simple proof.. so I don't know.

Could I publish it first and acquire the PhD afterwards (hand it in as a PhD thesis afterwards)?

What would be the best way to ensure that all credits are given to me? How can I have it validated by other people while simultaneously ensuring that I am acknowledged as the author?

Thank you very much

a) you're a retard, your proof is probably wrong
b) this won't give you a phd unless you used some really novel technique for it which generalizes well
If you are really sure, hand it in as an article for a peer-reviewed article

No. You would need to show that you've put in an extensive amount of effort into research and have obtained a high degree of understanding. It's not enough to find a trivial solution to a problem.
You should publish it on Arxiv. Though, more than likely it's probably wrong. Many people have discovered "simple" solutions to the problem that have been later on proven incorrect.

did the "scribbled in the margin proof" bit inspire you to optimize a solution the problem ?

I'm impressed that you understand FTL in the first place.

one day i hope to be able to ponder some high level dank stuff like this.

(doing precalc on khan academy) so i'm retard tier

You are a virgin.

precalc here as well though not using khan though I probably should've

Post it

Post it. If you don't even know anything about algebraic number theory then

You didn't prove anything.
