This basically. There are blind people throughout most religions and non-religions. Intellectuals believe that God exists from a philosophical viewpoint. The mindless ones follow it due to socialization and see it as an answer to all of the questions they're too lazy to reason through themselves.
Our science easily disproves man-made religions like Christianity. But like the other anon has said, it doesn't mean you couldn't be agnostically theist and believe there is some sort of entity out there which has nothing to do with our current religions
