What do I need to know before I start with category theory?

How to draw arrows.

Basic set theory

Thanks senpai

Also commutative algebra and some group theory.

If you really want to appreciate category theory, I'd recommend learning algebraic topology. Without it, most of category theory is lacking motivation and appears arbitrary.

This isn't strictly true. You can learn (at least the basics of) category theory without much of anything, but it likely won't make any sense, you'll miss most of the examples, and you will have no motivation whatsoever.

Algebraic Topology, Commutative Algebra, and Algebraic Goemetry

You need category theory for algebraic geometry, so this is bad advice.

Nothing technically. But the more math you know the better since it gives you more examples of categories.
