The most commonly studied type of fly is D. drosophila (Dd from here).

Dd has somehow managed to evolve almost entirely around mating as its primary driving force behind natural selection. The male has spikes on its dick that literally rip semen from the vagina of the male, it can do this for hours. Females have evolved a type of false plug to trick males in to thinking it's currently laying eggs so the male leaves the female alone, but it doesn't always work. The sperm cells in a fruit fly are fucking huge, about 2mm long, for reference the resolution of the human eye is about 0.5mm and we can't see bacteria.

tldr fruit flies are fucking crazy when it comes to sex and using them as a model for anything related to sex in humans is not appropriate.
