I was wondering, is pic related considered popsci by /sci/? What about 'Phantoms in the Brain'?
absolutely not. Kahneman is nobel laureate.
inb4 not real nobel
inbox behavioural econ not real science
It's popsci but it's good popsci
>>7763557
nobel doesn't mean not popsci.
However this is a really interesting book.
>>7763673
What?
>>7763677
Let me put it this way.
>behavioral econ
>science
infinite kek
>>7763681
Nice argument
>>7763548
Anything that isn't a pre-20th century tome written in archaic language is a considered pop-sci by /sci/.
>>7763685
If I had been making fun of psych / econ and you said this I would have started the argument.
But I can't argue straight faced against "behavioral econ", holy shit. I just can't. You're killing me.
>>7763688
Are you 12?
>>7763691
>I'm a behavioral economist
What's that?
>Behavioral economist
What does that mean?
>I'm an economist, and I analyze behavior
Give me an example
>I take into account people's emotions, people's bodies, people's feelings and people's energy.
>>7763548
Yes it's obviously a popsci book - it was written for a general audience. That doesn't mean it is not a very good book.
>>7763557
>lol I can cite this in my research because a known smart guy wrote it on the bathroom wall.
Do you even know what pop sci is?
>>7763868
a book like freakonomics would be considered "pop"
this book is about kahnamen's work from his own perspective. but you haven't read the book, so no point in talking to you about it
>>7763908
>>7763548
Yes it's pop-sci
I don't mean that in a derogatory way though, it's a good, interesting book. It's just meant for a general audience.
It's not pop-sci in the same way as DUDE SUPERNOVAS N SHIT-style junk
Cliffs on what the book says?
>>7763704
Is this malloclusion class 3 or just bad angle?
>>7763704
>I don't know anything about economic theory and I haven't graduated middle school
Behavioral economics builds economic theories on human psychology, not rational action theory.
It is pop-sci for sure. That said, it's awesome, extremely well-written, and actually thought provoking. You'll probably learn quite a bit about human behavior if you read this book.

just got pissed off at my mom this morning for not understanding the science of depression and anxiety disorders that I have and she waved this in my face
Remember kids: psychology is complete pseudoscience, but IQ tests are infallible.
