I'm just doing applied math as a second major. Most of the courses don't have many pre-reqs, so I just pick them in whatever order. Also, the class should have been Applied Algebra, I messed up the name.
>>
Experimental physics 4 (nuclear phys and some nano scale spectroscopy)
Mathematical methods in physics 2 (complex analysis, tensor shit, bessel functions and whatnot)
Foundations of higher mathematics (basically a course physics majors take to learn to write proofs, if they have free time)

And some philosophy class

Will probably end up taking abstract algebra and radiative astrophysics on the side, not for credit.

Don't even know yet. I have to pick between:
neural networks in signal processing class
a working with implantable neural technologies class
and a resonant MEMS class

I have an idea I ran by my adviser and he says if I can get it to work I'll have a high impact publication almost guaranteed. He told me to take only one class so I can work on lab stuff even though it's only my second semester. The first and second class will provide core understanding of things necessary to complete my dissertation, the last class will give me background needed to implement the novel idea I proposed to my adviser but is useless otherwise.

What would you guys choose when it comes to a Physics I class? There's one professor who has a 2.1 rating with 60 ratings and the professor is a 15 minute drive, or a professor who is a one hour drive, but has a 4.0 rating with 12 reviews. I'm already registered for the 4.0 professor, but i'm on the waitlist at rank 2 for the 2.1 rating professor.

US schools try to make 1 credit approximately one hour per week, only exception is that some labs are 2 credits for like 6 hours. Usually, a typical 3 credit class will have three 1 hour lectures or two 1.5 hour lectures.

>>
>>7765341
I really doubt that.
We do have a minimum of 3 hours lecture, personal contact time of about 20-24 hours. The ChemEng even have 30+. 1 Credit is calculated as 30 hour per unit. In the end you got about a minimum 900 hours working time 'on paper' for your courses.

Don't bullshit me. A lot of people included myself witnessed how the US education and most degrees are just bullshit. Abrod year and this stuff. Most of your degrees there are like a typical trade here.
Plus all your gender studies classes and all that. We don't have this shit. If you go STEM, you got about 180 Credits of STEM in good ol' germany.

>tfw most math majors in the US and their respective material in their 1-3 year are mostly covered already in a german 'highschool' class.

Most of your education is BS and just degree mills. Exception are already the case but you can clearly some tendencies.

Dude. German degree standards are so low you couldn't even get into the Washington accord.

You literally and unironically applied before India and you still didn't get in while India became a member in 2014.

Seriously a German trying to brag about their degrees looks retarded. You need a masters just to even work in a field. Your degrees are kiddie shit.

I'm not even American.
>>
>>7766144

You know german degrees and graduates are one of the best? Especially by their education standards? It's okay when this guy triggered you pretty good with his post but german degrees are by far really difficult to obtain in some fields. A master is mostly just required for Business Adminstration or Chemistry.

Where are you from, senpai?
Are you even 20< years old?
>>
>>7766151
>You know german degrees and graduates are one of the best?
According to who? Germans?
>Especially by their education standards?
According to Germans.

I'm not saying German degrees are all shit, but their engineering "degrees" are objectively too trade-school tier shit to be accepted as professional engineering degrees in the West.
>>
>>7766249
Well, germany's got the reputation for engineering excellence. Never heard "made in germany"?

https://www.quora.com/Which-are-the-best-universities-in-Germany-for-getting-a-degree-in-mechanical-engineering

And especially the TU9.

RWTH Aachen
KIT Karlsruhe
TU München
TU Darmstadt
Uni Stuttgart
TU Berlin
Uni Bayreuth
TU Braunschweig
TU Dortmund
Uni Bochum
Uni Bremen
TU Chemnitz

Are the ones who are basically top of the notch schools. Especially back in the "Diplom" times germans had a REALLY good reputation in their education. They basically take longer to study (6-7 years average) but setting it on the same level as "trade-school" shit?

Sorry senpai. I attended various schools, abroad and here. Swiss and germans Universities were the hardest while you get your degree in the USA, China or India with degree mills or cheating easily.

"Made in germany" trade-school tier.
Okay kiddo. It's funny how most abroad students for Erasmus are failing almost each course here since the workload and exams are way harder than in their respective country.
>>
>>7766249
>You know german degrees and graduates are one of the best?
It's internationally known that germans are performing in their field very high.

>>7766249
>Especially by their education standards?
The education is germany is goverment standardised. On this matter there's some kind of challenge and level to overcome to get a degree over there. Private institutes are almost not present. They got a pretty high education standard.
>>
>>7766271
>Well, germany's got the reputation for engineering excellence
Again, according to Germans. How are you not seeing the pattern of your Dunning Kruger arrogance here?

> Never heard "made in germany"?
Yes, when people talk about Volkswagen emission tests.

>quora
>

>TU9
Why should I care about about top schools in an overall shit country? Your neighbour Switzerland has a fraction of your population and yet still has more reputable universities.

>Especially back in the "Diplom" times germans had a REALLY good reputation in their education.
No, you tried to change it precisely because it was outdated, 18th century tier practically orientated shit.

>They basically take longer to study (6-7 years average) but setting it on the same level as "trade-school" shit?
Germans were never exactly the most quick witted individuals on the planet. They still can't beat Western countries on Nobel prizes, field medals etc. Your research output per capita is shit compared to most EU nations.

Your delusional beyond reproach. There's no point to continuing this conversation.
>>
>>7766307
You're just jealous as fuck.
It's okay. Never accomplished something yourseld and by the end of the month you will most likely just earn 1/3 - 1/5 of a german wage.

I heard some immigrants had a rape fest in one of your town squares on new year's. Made me smile. You probably didn't even hear about it because your """""liberal""""" media and police actually censors black and Muslim on white rape.

The only thing you are less aware of than how pathetically weak your countryman is, is how abysmally low your universities' prestige is.
