Is showering daily just a meme?
I am strictly referring to the health of the skin and body.
For health reasons no.
But if you don't want people to tell you you should shower once a day you should shower once a day.
>>8696108
I shower like twice a week
>>8696108
Cheap fuck that I am I actually tested this last week to avoid using water and buying soap etc.
After day 4 I could fucking stand the smell of my own body
>try to run, cant get away from yourself because youre inside of your own skin and it STINKS.
Maybe if I was bald it would be eaiser to stay clean?
Hi guys I have a question regarding regression analysis.
So, I have a model Y = -25.04836 + .7823*x1
however, after running generalized least squares the constant blows up and the resulting model becomes
Y = 125.588 + .556983*x1
further, the standard error of the constant term increases from ~5 to ~50
Essentially, what I want to know is what the heck does the change in standard error mean? what causes the increase in the constant?

Nice picture
https://www.quora.com/Regression-statistics-What-is-the-difference-between-Ordinary-least-square-and-generalized-least-squares
Not sure if you're confusing GLS with WLS, but in GLS your estimates (in this case for you, b0 and b1) will be inflated by the correlation of the errors, where greater correlation within the errors will lead to very large values for your coefficients and they'll lose their statistical significance.
I don't know what data you ran the regression on but I'm not surprised at how high the standard errors have become considering you only have a single factor; you likely need more to explain the variation in the data.

a stem student interrupts a lecture on non-binary genders.
student: there are only two genders.
prof: please don't interrupt. say sorry to the class.
student: sry
>>8695646
There are far more than 2 genders. In humans there are only 2 sexes usually, although intersex births do happen rarely. In plants sexes are all sorts of crazy configurations, and in asexual life there are no genders. This STEM student must have never taken biology courses.

If transgenders are that way because their brains didn't develop in their respective organic sex in the womb for some unknown reason, why it's not considered a disease of the brain?

body dysmorphia is already considered a mental illness.
If you dug a 2000 mi hole in the earth what would the gravitational pull be at the bottom? The same as a planet with a radius of the distance from yours in the hole to the center of the earth? Is the mass above you pulling you upward negating some of that? What would the gravitational pull be if you built a 2000mi tower on the earth?
>>8695464
These instructions are using generalities:
For the tower 2000 miles tall, consider the Earth as a point. That point will be located at the Earth's center. The displacement from the top of the tower to the point will be 2000 miles + the radius of the Earth (~4000 miles) = 6000 miles. Next, find the mass of the Earth. Use the Universal Gravity equation to find the force of gravity acting on whatever body is placed at the top of the tower.
In considering the gravity's pull inside of a 2000 mile hole, set up an equation that condenses Earth's mass to a single point at the center of the Earth (call it G[1]) then subtract out the gravity that is above you using the mass fraction of the Earth in a conic shape above you(call it G[2]). The force of gravity in your hole will be G[1] - G[2].
>>8695560
Dumb this down for me
>>8695464
>Is the mass above you pulling you upward negating some of that?
Nope. The mass on the other side cancels it out.
>The same as a planet with a radius of the distance from yours in the hole to the center of the earth?
Yes. Specifically the gravity due to all the mass in the sphere below you, concentrated at the center. Gauss' law in terms of gravity, basically.
To get the gravity on the tower just take into account its position from the center of the earth while using Newton's law of gravitation.

did NDT just prove the continuum hypothesis?
So I take it all this butthurt over Neil is a result of low IQ racist cognitive dissonance? Your entire "world view" is shattered and disproven by a black guy with as many degrees as he has, so you desperately search for ways to nitpick and discredit him to alleviate this problem. It's almost like polerinas are SJWs.

everyone knows degrees aren't achievements
feel free to list some of his important scientific discoveries
Can someone help me with this ? I'm not sure if the electricity would spread equally on both sides. I have been gived R1 R2 R3 and A2, and are supposed to find A1, A3, I1, I and the potential U.
>>8695278
>spreads
I don't think you understand how electricity works friendo.
>>8695281
I do on a really basic level. That was just a bad choice of words as my english isnt that great.
What are I1 and I? Are those supposed to be currents? Or is that A? I can help you, I just don't understand what you're looking for and what you have. What are the values you're given?

Sure, but most people are idiots.

no? It's literally just following a formula

Hey /Sci/
I'm thinking of taking Adderall as I have ADHD. However, my mom is a psychologist and she advised against it. She claimed that ADHD medication turns people into robots. Is that true or should I just take it.
>>8693879
We're already lost machines.
robots are the superior potatoes
SMART PATROL
NOWHERE TO GO
SUBURBAN ROBOTS THAT MONITOR REALITY
I take it for ADHD and depression and it works, but the effect is different for different people, you could try it once and see what happens
>>8693879
it doesn't turn you into a robot, but it does fuck you up
you're permanently taking a drug that operates much like amphetamines neurobiologically. you'll form a dependence and it will cause structural changes in your brain that are hard to reverse, due to the way that a dopamine flood hijacks the normal learning mechanism.
If you post on a faster board you'll get a huge number of horror stories.
it is another one of those cases like oxycotin where drug companies pushed an addictive drug with modest benefit and lowballed the consequences to create a cohort of addicts(hence a guaranteed revenue stream)

There, problem solved.

The problem is so much more complicated, sempai.
>>8692343
No, you should stop breathing out harmful CO2 which is causing global warming and destroying the planet. #stopBreathing

pseudoscience
Pseudoscience based on anecdotal evidence.
Just pseudosceince. But if it works for you, it works for you. Placebo can work too
Why does /sci/ hate Computer Science so much?
>>8695655
Insecurity.
>>8695655
Everyone respects math and physics by default, every board needs its jokes and engineers aren't as insecure as CS guys, so they're not so fun to meme on.
Because the only high-paying jobs available to Math and Physics postdocs are in CS
Why would someone who has a very high IQ achieve nothing worthwhile in his life?
