Not sure if you're confusing GLS with WLS, but in GLS your estimates (in this case for you, b0 and b1) will be inflated by the correlation of the errors, where greater correlation within the errors will lead to very large values for your coefficients and they'll lose their statistical significance.

I don't know what data you ran the regression on but I'm not surprised at how high the standard errors have become considering you only have a single factor; you likely need more to explain the variation in the data.

These instructions are using generalities:

For the tower 2000 miles tall, consider the Earth as a point. That point will be located at the Earth's center.
