hey yall, Currently I am building a new mod that i'm hoping to get 8.4v and 120 max amp draw, with 6 batteries rated at 4.2v and 40A each.
>see diagram
my biggest question is how big of a resistor should i use with my Mosfet? and feel free to double check my work; i want to be safe, and accurate.

>AJ trying this hard

Theory (aka wishful thinking):
>how big of a resistor?
divide voltage by current, 70 mΩ
Reality:
>4.2V
only at zero load
>195A
for a microsecond?

emf of batteries?
I will apply to MIT this year, but the application page doesn't let me add Fall 2017 as an option, saying the deadline is overdue. But we are in spring. Is there a deadline for registering or something?
I'm stressing out, haha.
> Tell me about your college endeavours /sci/

College apps are due in like December idiot.
Should we tell him?
>>8709807
Seriously? Aw man.
Can someone please explain to me why fractions are a better alternative to decimals?
Try to write 1/3 with decimals
>>8709799
>better
>not prettier
Because decimals are fractions with only powers of ten as the denominator.
What about a reverse parachute?
Would this take you from the bottom of the ocean to the top?
Would it work above ground with lighter than air gas?

>would it work above ground with lighter than air gas

Those are a little big though

Wouldn't you die from caisson disease?
i figured it out

The boom is fixed in place you brainlet. OP actually has a great idea here. I don't see why anyone hasn't come up with this yet.
Only for genius??
-13
3-3x6+2=?
3-18+2=?
-15+2=?
-13=?
I'm changing the ?? to ?^2. Taking the derivative of that i get 0 = 2?, so
Ans ?=0
Why does everyone act like engineering school is really hard and demanding?
Employers always act amazed that I could maintain a high GPA is "such a demanding program."
Am I just that good, or is everyone around me retarded/lazy/etc.?
retarded/lazy
>>8709580
Depends on the uni
Also, you could have naturally perfectly optimize effort put in vs professor's grade
What's an alright GPA to graduate with? I've slowly declined over the semester but am still at 3.5
>>8709597
I dunno, man.
I think outsiders have a warped view of just how difficult this particular engineering school is. They have the perception that you have to be extremely intelligent to succeed here. But the truth is that the classes, while you do have to put in some work, teach concepts very superficially. It doesn't take much smarts to memorize a bunch of processes, as opposed to really understanding what's going on. On the other hand, I am still in the first half of my schooling. Maybe upper-division courses are better. But, based on conversations with people who are about to graduate, probably not.
Would a bigger dog breed (if starving) cannibalize a smaller dog? Or do dogs somehow recognize other breeds, despite the vast morphological differences between various breeds, and therefore would not eat the smaller completely different looking dog?
I still don't understand how the fuck a wolf is selectively bred into a chiahuahua over the course of thousands of years.
Thousands of years is nothing.
>>8709520
" Small breeds tend to mature faster than large breeds. On average, however, males become fertile after six months of age and reach full sexual maturity by 12 to 15 months."
"An average litter consists of about five to six puppies"
Then i think you just keep cross breeding till you get what you want
>>8709520
that's 7 thousands of years, tho
hat kind of math is this? Seems made up. Looks like someone defined a bunch of symbols and made a lot of shit up that no one else reads. What background is needed to understand this? Is this shit made up or real math?
I've never taken this kind of course but I can tell you it's logic proofs based. Maybe an abstract algebra course.
>>8709437
>Landweber-flat
That is algebraic topology.
>>8709437
>Seems made up
its all made up
How long until manufacturing this stuff becomes viable?
Ten minutes after never
>>8709262
I hope you're not actually so doom and gloom about this stuff, considering it'll literally change the world.
>>8709274
yeah if only people of money caught wind of this
noooooooooooooooooooooooope
How do I stop wasting my time on useless bullshit and spend almost all of my freetime studying and learning?
I don't want to waste anymore time on dumb shit.
too bad anyone who had figured that out wouldn't be here to see your post
What's wrong with enjoying yourself?
>>8709216
You know how your teachers tell you that if you study hard, and make good marks you'lll be successful?
Well, that's a load of shit.
I'm not saying you won't be successful, but at what exactly?
You'll just be another drone working in a highly technical job, getting paid less than your worth.
If you want to be a scientist the same applies, just with a slight chance to be recognized by society for something deep down you probably don't want.
Find something that you enjoy, a product, a service, and create a business.
If you're stupid enough to go for art, do that.
Do anything besides forcing yourself to be surrounded by aspies with overinfflated egos.
I'm not saying that people can't enjoy stem, but just consider what you actually want.
Not what your parents, teachers, and society has.
who would win in a fight, a takomak or a stellerator?
the one that otto octavius has in spider-man 2
An FRC plasma you pleb.

>who would win in a fight, a takomak or a stellerator?
How are they supposed to fight?
What are the most effective (and scientifically proven) techniques for overcoming/taking control of Panic Attacks?
I would love to have control over my life again. I'd love to catch and control the bad thoughts early and stop the excessive worry in my life.
can you stop rumination in its tracks ?
Are you doing daily aerobic exercises. That's step 1. Do you take caffeine? If you do, don't do that.
The best way to treat a panic attack is to remove yourself from the environment that it started in. Of course, most panic attacks occur as a result of being unable to exist your current environment.
>>8709103
Calm down.
Please convince me not to be worried. I know the only possible reason to be worried is that I'm worried but the more I try not to think about it the more I think about it and the more scared I get. Because I'm thinking about it and because the more I think about it the more true it seems. I know its an info hazard but I don't care, help me or suffer with me you cunts.
Please help me I can't stop thinking about. I can't sleep and I can't focus on studying.

Eliezer isn't worried about it, and has both way more investment in the idea of timeless Decision Theory and fewer habits of self deception.

The idea also pre-supposes that an AI would choose a negative incentive to motivate FAI people who already believe that death is permanent unconsciousness and are nonetheless only making sub-maximum efforts at creating FAI.
Given that FAI folks can rationalize global warming, nuclear warfare, disease and mundane threats to personal safety as a personal incentive to work on FAI, I can't imagine an FAI would try something like that.
I'm trying to tutor my girlfriend in math. She's, frankly, atrocious at it. She is at best a pre-algebra level. That said, she has potential, just doesn't learn well in a classroom setting. Is there a comprehensive list of subjects by math level? I have some experience tutoring, but was told what to teach by the student/parent based on what they were struggling with, not for a full course.
try not dating an 8 year old

wtf you pedo
Both 18, she tested into 0960 math in college which is pre algebra. This year she fiinally got diagnosed with dyscalculia aka math dyslexia after years of just feeling dumb.
