hey 4chan, anon here. the opposite of addition is subtraction. the opposite of multiplication is division. the opposite of power is root. the opposite of differentiation is integration.
what's the opposite of factorial?
>>8766206
inverse gamma function where it is bijective
>>8766206
factorial is just a series of multiplications so a series of divisions
define a new operation ? by
a?=a/((a-1)!)
then (a!)?=a!/((a!-1)!)=a
How do we know and define what life is when the only life that we've ever known is carbon based?
Is it even possible for the scientific community to define life if we only know the needs and definition of carbon based life?
Or am I missing something huge here?
>>8766203
>Or am I missing something huge here?
Words don't have any innate meaning.
Science is missing something huge by limiting the definition of 'Life' to only those things that are carbon based. This is one of the big mistakes of Science and needs to broaden its definition to include all of the Natural processes that exist as Natural Forces........
Life is not about maintaining a genetic past but rather preserving its Future Alteration.
This must include a non carbon based definition
>>8766218
Makes sense but what do you mean by preserver its future alteration? Are you just talking abut surviving
What are the implications of the time that we exist in? Scientists estimate the current age of the universe at about 14 billion years.
They estimate that stars will continue to form normally for another 1-100 trillion years. That means that we exist in the first 1-0.01% of time in the Universe (not counting the time that black holes will continue to exist, etc.)
To me it's fascinating that we exist very close to the birth of the universe- so close that we can theoretically see it with a telescope. So what are some of the implications of this? How would things be different if we existed 100 billion or 1 trillion years from the start of the universe?
>>8765309
I thought we were about halfway through the stelliferous period
>>8765309
when will brainlets realoze that these aren't coincidences but evidence that we live in a simulation
>>8765309
>How would things be different if we existed 100 billion or 1 trillion years from the start of the universe?
we would be much better off
Why haven't we already invented a reliable, safe, multi-usable way of stimulating breast growth? I know that you can achieve something from massages and such, but you'd think giving everyone "natural" J's would be basic organic chemistry.
>>8764900
I wonder this also. It must be a complicated process. Clearly more genetic than hormonal, otherwise it would be easy
>>8764926
I believe hormones play a significant role. My friend's girlfriend has a birth defect where she basically doesn't have a certain gland that is vital for puberty. She had to take special hormone supplements as a teenager so she would develop normally but a side effect was it gave her really big tits for a woman for her size. She's like 5'2"
>>8764937
I would posit that hormones are necessary but not sufficient to develop breasts. I.e. everyone has a natural limit which is reaches if they have sufficient hormone levels. Obviously supplementation beyond normal levels doesn't work, otherwise everyone on estrogen b/c would have huge increases in breast size (which happens, but is rare)
Post you're face when one of the mirrors deploys off by 0.1mm and the entire telescope is fucked, and is 1 million miles away and un-fixable.
Something similar happened with the Hubble, the mirror had an error and the images came out blurry. Let's hope it goes well this time.
>>8764828
DESU they should just unfold it in LEO.
>>8764861
hubble wasn't 1 million miles away, though.
Why did humans evolve to get depressed when things are going badly?
>>8764315
>Why did humans evolve to get depressed when things are going badly?
Evolutionary mechanism.
The body sees things are going bad and wants you to kill yourself.
Society evolved too fast for biology to keep up.
>>8764315
One (anecdotal) theory is that it preserves energy in harsh times. Depression was probably less common when you were kept busy by keeping yourself alive. A life in relative ease in a culture that values nothing more than unattainable perfection and like-the-movies happiness, leaves a lot of room to brood and evaluate yourself based on others, instead of seeing people, doing things and keeping busy.
Idle hands and all that. There is something to it, no matter how you view theology.
TL;DR: >>8764324
Do not reply to brainlets
>How do I
>What is the
>How does
>Why does
>redpill me on
>consciousness
>intelligence
>infinite
>meme
>literally
>debunk
>refute
>observe
>information
>computer simulation
These are words and phrases used exclusively by brainlets.
For the health of /sci/, do not reply to these imbeciles. They will eventually return to /pol/ and /v/ where the unwashed masses reside.
>Unironically using the term "brainlet"
Brainlet detected

Would someone here explain the purpose of mosquitoes within an ecosystem?
What would be the consequences of getting rid of these niggers?
>purpose
hello, Aristotle
it keeps humans under check
>>8763429
There's probably more than one form of life like lizards or frogs (maybe birds?) that feed from them.
who else is also ENTJ masterrace?
>>8763141
lmfao, I've taken the test on 16personalities multiple times. ENTJ is my most common result but I've also gotten INTJ INTP ISTP and ENTP. I think the theory is seen as garbage by the scientific community of psychology.
Took this test three times, always the best result : INTJ
>>8763151
Not just by psychologists, the US Army did a massive survey of MBTI and found it completely lacking in any validity whatsoever.
Hey anons,
So, last year i got into the best uni of my state (by Mexico standars) to study software engineering. I really do find the carrer interesting, but i have a small problem, my programming logic. I don't consider myself a brainlet but i'm having problems when it comes to developing the logic to code a program. I often get stuck on how to program "x" code leaving me unable to continue some of the programs the teacher asks us to do.
What am i doing wrong?
>>/g/
>>8762704
Break the program into smaller steps.
Once you have the steps you can begin to determine the required functions you will need.
Reread notes/lecture materials to implement the smaller steps
Tie it all together.
Give an example.
>Win math contest out of 2000 high school students
>Take IQ test and get 127
What's going on here /sci/?
>>8762606
You go to a brainlet high school
>>8762606
You've been awarded the status "King of the Retards", congratulations OP.
>>8762606
wow, congrats on finding out that IQ is a completely inaccurate system to measure intelligence!
I know wormholes are purely theoretical right now, but I'm interested in them anyways. Could any two points in our perceived 3D space be connected by a wormhole? Will the distance through the wormhole always be shorter than the conventional way through 3D space only? Can it sometimes even be longer? Am I correct that our 3D space has to be curved in higher spatial dimensions in order for the distance to be shorter, thus taking a shortcut through a higher dimension?
If this is the case, is our perceived 3D space curved in higher dimension? Can we ever know this?
Additional question relating the distance in a wormhole: Will it always take the shortest possible way through the available additional dimensions? So will it always be straight or can it be winded like on pic related?
Also, how many dimension are available for a wormhole / how many spatial dimensions are really there?
>>8761965
Youtube is a wormhole.
>>8761965
How much of a brainlet is /sci/ that it can't answer a single one of those questions within 12 hours?
A few (too many) basketball players genuinely believe the Earth is flat:

They are modern pioneers, ushering a new paradigm of thinking. Bow to our b-balling giants before it's too late!
>>8761039
> I’m just saying. I drive from Florida to California all the time, and it’s flat to me. I do not go up and down at a 360-degree angle
How can people be [math] this [/math] egocentric?
>This man has a doctorate degree in education from Barry University
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
A lot of basketball players are black also.
The large majority of sports players are meatheads that throw a ball around as their life's work.
Who here ISTP-A ?
>tfw 5% of population

Post for me on there, friend
>one shot at life
>born a brainlet
>>8759064
yeah, and on top of that
>born in France, land of the boring
can't even kms cuz no guns
putain de merde
Every day I think about what I could possibly do with my brainlet. Every day I come to the same conclusion: absolutely nothing.
>>8759064
You bring up a good point. Do brainlets like you even deserve to live?
I currently go to university for pure mathematics and every day I walk around and see a bunch of brainlets. Some do physics, some do arts, etc. And I get confused, why are they not proving theorems? What a waste of fucking time. Look at those brainlets drawing flowers. Look at those brainlets studying chemical reactions. What the fuck?
And then I think, if brainlets are this useless and retarded then maybe they don't even have working feelings. Like maybe they are "smart" enough to reproduce feelings, but they are actually just robots that don't feel anything and can't really think. Like imagine if I made a computer program that simply printed "Hello" over and over.
That program is obviously saying hi to you, but is it really "feeling" that it is talking to you? Probably not. And neither do brainlets.
And after coming to terms with this I realized, why aren't brainlets simply put into slavery? Why don't I have a brainlet do forced labor to make me money so that I can focus more on mathematics and ignore things like finances and work?
OP, given that your intelligence is so low that you can't even comprehend the situations you are in, would you mind being my slave? I mean, what is the difference for you? Can your little pea brain even tell the difference between freedom and slavery? Probably not as you are a slave to your low IQ and yet you would say that you have "free will".
What about other brainlets? Any other brainlets browsing? Wouldn't you like to be useful?
