Lets say you were going to guide someone to /sci/ excellence. What curriculum would you have them follow and what books?
>>8776357
already a bunch of these
just follow your local large college or follow mit ocw
if you need help use kahn academy patrickjmt
>>8776357
I'd send them off to /sci/ public school.
>>8776383
that's retarded.
Daily remember that IQ is a meme and is not an accurate measure for intelligence. Stop posting about your IQ.
It's how good your pattern recognition is, not how much you know.
IQ is good indication of potential, not absolute.
>>8774740
Intelligence isn't how much you know.
>>8774731
The most accurate metric that IQ can make claim to be is a measurement of your ability to complete IQ tests.
The previous one (>>8748188) is about to reach the bumplimit, so let's start a new one.
>what are you researching?
>what are you studying?
>any good problems?
>book recommendations?
>cool theorems?

http://www.freebookcentre.net/SpecialCat/Free-Mathematics-Books-Download.html
This is the best collection of free online texts I've seen. Has texts on pretty much every subject of mathematics except logic and a few specific sub fields.
general advice for an undergrad math major?
Alright /sci/, help a fellow retard out.
I need to know how rare (i.e. what are the chances/percentage?) a girl with red hair in my country can be.
There are currently 140 million redheads worldwide, 2% of Global pop.
There are currently 4,892,721 people in my country, half of which (1.01) are women.
>tl;dr how many redheads are there in Costa Rica? And what are my chances of meeting one?
>>8778973
You're not accounting for age, attractiveness, the ones with daddy issues, the ones with missing arms and legs, the ones who just dye their hair red, the ones who are lesbians, the ones who only like rich guys, the ones who are already taken, etc.
Stop making women a calculation, you're gonna have a bad time.
>>8778982
Nah m8, I already know one, I just wanted figures to see how lucky I am.
She's redhead natty too.
>>8778982
Topkek, you just described OP's pic.
LSD is called acid because it makes the world melt away, hence drug users becoming less materialistic because
>muh priorities
>>8778920
>implying drugs aren't a material in these of materialism
>implying that drug culture doesn't glorify money and capitalism even more than "normal" culture.
Oh boy have you fallen for some low quality memes.
>>8778920
A hefty LSD trip will make you think (or realize) that there is an entirely different world out there (or is it here?) besides the visible material world. It isn't a lasting impression though.

INFINITY SURPASING THE EGO'S LIMITS BITCH
HELP! So I am stuck. I need to run an analysis testing contextual effects of a level 2 model using the program WHLM. I have been trying for so long but I can't seem to tel if I'm right or if I'm doing it wrong or what the freaking interpretation of this is either!
Selfless bump
I'll bump all night
Bumping bumping
What is the point of reading these? It won't make you any smarter. You'll forget 90% of it. There is no benefit to reading a bunch of general texts like this.
>>8778464
Instead read the latest popsci on string theory by black science man.
>>8778464
its a meme list made to trick brainlets into becoming freshmen forever
just stop posting it
>>8778470
tru
Atleast you'll be able to win a couple of brainlet popsci fights and hopefully get a chick // some attention irl
I'm going into a university to get a degree to be a veterinarian but I'm pretty average at math and science. Am I fucked?
>>8778326
My teachers sucked ass in high school.
>>8778322
Veterinary medicine is very popular with girls, so they make sure there's no yucky math or science in it.
I have an engineering question. If everyone started to eat the seeds from the food they ate (like apples) and they all flushed their seeds down the toilet along with dirt and flashlights (that are turned on) then would apple trees and other things start growing down there? The seeds would have dirt for nutrients, sunlight for photosynthesis, and there would be water down there already. Is there something about the sewer systems that prevent this from happening or did I just figure out a flaw in the system?
>>8778088
oh btw I just noticed that they wouldn't need flashlights if there were lights like there are in my picture. but since people wouldn't know if there are lights in their particular sewer putting in a flashlight might be a could precaution
>>8778088
global warming and deforestation SOLVED
good job anon
>>8778091
>could precaution
good precaution*
Whats the best way to remember what you study ?
Im studying sociology and I:
>Scan what I have to read
>Actually read it slowly
>Read it again at a medium speed and underline the most important concepts
>Make conceptual diagrams
But it literally takes me forever and I have to read hundreds of pages every fucking week so Im literally 24/7 doing this shit.
Nice b8
>>8778053
Its not a fucking b8,
I wish I studied biology so I just had to remember names of things.
>>8778045
Sorry this is a board for real science
Is there any good reason to believe dark matter and dark energy exist?
Why are so many cosmologists and physicists cucked by their dark wives?
>>8777874
>dark matter
Lots:
>BAOs
>Rotation curves
>CMB powerspecturm
>Lambda-CDM
All pointing in the same direction.
>dark energy
I only know of:
>Lambda-CDM
>>8777874
>Is there any good reason to believe dark matter and dark energy exist?
No. Every astronomer and physicist just decided one day, for no reason at all, to pretend dark matter exists.
Occam's Razor. Dark Matter makes our existing models work extremely well. The only hiccup is that we can only indirectly observe it (note that that's not the same as being unable to observe it).
Alternatives to dark matter tend to require us to throw out our existing models for something new, even though these models still work very well at smaller scales.
How do you think people interpret math differently? Some people get it, some people don't. Pic not related
>>8777818
the people who don't get it aren't studying or trying hard enough
>>8777849
No, they just don't have the brainpower. Don't shame people who can't do math, it's not their fault.
Calculus genius help me out. I need help solving limits indeterminations. I don't get what to do after I get inf/inf inf-inf 0/0 or 0xinf
I'd appreciate some tips and procedures to what should I do in each case to lift the indeterminations
I should be a pro doing this but I'm not at all therefore I could really use some help guys,
l'hospital's rule brainlet
>>8777804
According to our national maths plan I can't use that untill next year :/
Where are all the calculus beasts at?
why ?
just expand it brainlet
Why not?
>>8777733
can't argue with these digits
why is dividing by a fraction the same as multiplying by its reciprocal?
>>>/sqt/
>>8777590
do complex numbers have reciprocals?
>>8777605
Yes. If z = (a + ib), then the reciproqual is [math](a -ib)/(a^2 + b^2)[/math].
