As you can see from the link above, a lot of the well-known world university rankings are biased towards English-speaking universities.
Can anyone provide a university ranking comparing all schools in a way that doesn't involve language bias? I'm particularly interested in an unbiased rankings list of the best STEM universities.
>>8838057
You need a language bias for some subjects. If you can't into english, you aren't going to be very good at certain fields like ECE
That ass needs a good pounding.
>>8838203
thats a god damn fact right there
Why isn't 0/0 defined? Isn't it just equal to one?
why not just make a new symbol for 1/0. that's what they did with the negative square root and it turned out pretty good.
>>8837699
>>8837711
Since 1+0+1+0+1... is equal to 1/2
Wouldn't it stand to reason that 1/0 is equal to 0 ? Since it is the average of infinity and negative infinity.
Is Who wants to be a millionaire just a game of luck?
I mean, there's 33.34% chance of being right unless the person happen to know the answer, and lifelines can only get you so far into the game
>>8837679
>unless the person happen to know the answer
that would make it a game on knowledge first and foremost.
>>8837686
Yes but if they only HAPPEN to know the answer, its merely a game of luck.
>>8837679
is a test you take in class with multiple choice a test of luck?
>tfw /sci/ says molecular biology isn't a hard science
My mum studied that and she's a woman so it couldn't be that hard.
all science is either physics or stamp collecting
>>8835649
>Mfw I'm starting to realize how shit I am at math
>starting to realise
I knew it right from the beginning and stopped trying.
>>tfw Calc 3 brainlet
I failed Calc 2 I don't know what I'm even doing here
>most likely to develop clots compared to other blood types
>highest risk for cardiovascular diseases
>highest risk for Alzheimer and dementia
>82% more likely to develop difficulties with language, memory recall and attention
>most likely to get gastric cancer
JUST
Seriously, there isn't a single advantage to this blood type,so why did it even develop? Could these factors be the reason why there are only so few of them 3-4%?
>>8839079
There must have been some evolutionary advantage to carrying antigens on blood cells. Otherwise we'd all be O.
>>8839079
propensity for developing blood clots would be great for wounds.
the other problems you mention occur after you've already reproduced so it doesn't really matter form an evolution standpoint
>>8839101
>reproduce
>die
>offspring gets picked off because nobody to protect it
Fuck off with this meme.
Is there an easier way to identify a brainlet than asking them if love exists?
Humans are ultimately self-serving and caring for someone else provides zero benefits unless said someone else gives you money or help you advance in society in any way.
Any "loved one" can be thrown out of your life when it's convenient for you and there's nothing shameful in that. Especially if it's something as intellectually empty as a woman so the idea of "love" is inherently absurd.
>>8838951
>Sense of superiority about being emotionally stunted
But anon, the brainlet is (you).
>>8838954
>muh emotions
No one cares. The only thing that matters in a human being is intelligence.
>>8838957
>Truly emotionless people exist
>Unable to actually make decisions, as they effectively have no utility function
Man, purpose from irrational emotions sure feels rewarding.
If evolution is true, then why haven't fish evolved against getting fished?
Because it's bait
Same reason people didn't evolve against getting shot.
>>8838934
They have.
Fish in the North Atlantic is now smaller and that helps them not getting caught. I no longer have the source but there was an article dealing extensively in how human activity has put evolutionary pressure on a lot of species.
I know that a lot of ppl do it, and tought it as science.
I'm going to make ice cream with liquid nitrogen tomorrow and would like to know the science behind it.
It's supposed to make a creamier ice cream (smaller ice crystals), but I don't understand why.
Why is a quick churn at -321F create smaller ice crystals than a typical slow churn at ~30F?
>>8838899
What in the fuck does that F stand for? Failed unit?
>>8838943
fahrenheit
-320.5F or -160C is the temperature of liquid nitrogen.
You take the ingredients (milk fat and it's liquids, sugar (sucrose), and flavorings) and freeze them to make iced cream. Normally it's done slowly with consistent churning to make the ice crystals small...I guess.
I see a lot of threads about evolution but none about why evolution "is".
Am I right in thinking that the entirety of evolution (according to modern science) happened because of errors?
If this is true doesn't it tell you something about the universe or reality?
>>8838725
There are no errors if there is no plan
>>8838725
When we say a species evolved, we are saying it had a mutation which helped it survive in their environment.
So yes, its actually a mistake in the formation of the DNA that turned out to be useful for the species.
Random mutations.
Non random selection.
That's all it is.
What happens after the universe ends? Nothingness? An identical universe forming? Or a completely different universe forming?
Do you remember the time before you were born ?
Same thing. Time is a human concept. What happens then isn't an understandable concept for most of us; we can only try to theorize.
Short answer : Fuck if we know, and we won't be there to see it anyway.
>>8838602
>most of us
Who would be the exception here? The Pope of Rome? Queen of England?
Obviously understanding the universe may forever be out of our grasp of understanding for reasons of time and scale. It may not even be important.
>>8838712
Time isn't a human construct, you fuckwit. It's simply a rate of change.
I'm a CS brainlet struggling through Coursera's machine learning course. It's completely mathematical and involves no real programming at all. Why are you fags not working in this industry when it pays twice as much as teaching niggers and womyn long division?
>>8838430
>implying we care about money
>>8838430
>It's completely mathematical and involves no real programming at all.
What the fuck, are you retarded?
CS majors would be proud

Can anyone disprove what this guy says? We might be doing science wrong apparently. Also, what the fuck are kozyrev mirrors?

> Stephen J. Crothers (born 1957) is a handyman/gardener and part-time amateur scientist who claims that black holes do not exist, and are neither predicted by nor compatible with General Relativity.[2] His body of work consists primarily of articles that he posts at either viXra or his own personal website,[3][4] thus steering clear of the peer review process.
>>8838427
I mean sure, if you want to discredit this guy's idea by simply calling his character into question that's one way.. but I think addressing the substance of what he's found seems rather important. Not to mention,
>Albert Einstein was a patent office clerk
>>8838413
Is this the guy who says stars don't burn, electromagnetism makes them switch on like light bulbs?
Tell me about rare earth metals. Is there a way to mine/process them without polluting the environment?
Strictly non-political please.
>>8838188
>Is there a way to mine/process them without polluting the environment?
No.
>>8838188
yes
>>8838195
Really?
Can you explain how they are processed and what exactly in their processing causes pollution?
If bacteria are not life because they need humans to reproduce then couldn't we say humans are not life because we need a planet/environment with particular physicals conditions to reproduce?
you mean viruses?
>>8838130
*viruses
Not bacteria
>>8838130
No because the virus literally cannot reproduce without a host cell. If 2 humans were dropped into an oxygenated abyss they could make another human as they fell into the void, assuming they didnt starve. The virus cannot do this.
