I don't get it /sci/, why do schools force everyone to waste years studying shit that the vast majority of people will never use in their lives?
Why not give them the option to learn something that'll come in handy?
>>8865837
Because of Prussians.
>>8865837
The schools job isnt to teach you everything practical you need to know. Its purpose is to teach you know to learn for yourself retard.
>>8865837
Because it's good to understand how the world woks.
Can someone explain to me why sociologists and gender studies are inherently against evolutionary psychology? Why are they so quick to deny anything that may indicate that social constructivism is wrong?
Are there truly no differences that can't be explained by culture?
>>8865680
It goes against everything they stand for and debunks hundreds of "research papers" about gender. Their goal is to force normal people into feeling shameful about succumbing to "societal pressures" to be a certain way when it's better for everyone in their society to do whatever they feel is right for them.
>>8865680
>evolutionary psychology
that's such a tippy toe field tho, 100% theorized with no way of confirming or test

Do you think someone who genuinlly loves math should pursue a math degree even if they're not naturally good at it?
Should someone of a low IQ stick to a vocational job or study hard and pursue something they love even if their brain isn't best suited for it?
>>8865461
I was also wondering this so have a bump friendo
>>8865461
math is a language you have to practice to be good at it
>>8865474
Even intelligent people? I feel like I have to study much more than anyone else.
can anyone help on explaining this fucking ezpz question to me

When does classical physics start to break down? Is there an exact point at which you go "I have to start using QM or else I'd be getting bs results"? Or is that point a fuzzy limit? If so, around which idea / point does the fuzzy limit oscillate around?
I'm not a physics ug / postgrad so I don't want to use terms I don't fully understand. By "classical" physics I mean relativity or whatever's used for macrophysics. It's just words naming an abstract concept, anyways, it doesn't matter. You get my point and that's what matters.
>>8865394
Ignore any signs of retardation that I probably displayed in the OP.
By macrophysics I mean something like the complement of Quantum Mechanics. Universal set - QM where QM is the collection of all formulas and ideas (feynman diagrams and shit related to that) that describe physics at that level.
The physical limit of computer processors is reached when they become so thin that electrons become able to tunnel outside of their intended paths.
So I would assume that is the limit of classical physics.
>>8865402
That's mostly why I'm asking this. It was the first time I noticed IRL that classical physics can't describe anything and that QM has a real effect on us.
So what's that point exactly? individual electrons / photons that are modeled individually instead of treating them as groups?
that's what quantum means to me at least, an unit, it would make sense if QM was just about the behavior of individual photons / electrons and other shit like (don't laugh please) quarks, leptons and whatever else is out there
I go to an """elite""" college and this Bio person I know shared this shit on Facebook. Fuck these people. What does it even mean to secure knowledge if it isn't empirically? First order logic? Mathematics in general? I sincerely doubt that's what po-mo continentals are talking about.
Sorry if you guys feel this is more suited to /lit/, I'll post it there, too.
>>8865380
It's philosophizing about philosophizing about science. It's politics as usual if you're a brainlet who is thinking of new ways to sound smart.
2/10 not rare enouth

how is that rare? there's an entire stretch of overcooked meat on the top and bottom of the pink middle

>do it anyway
Physics is probably the most depressing degree.
sadly, physics undergrads think they're cool. they even get laid sometimes.
Unlike mathies, physicsfags come to grad school thinking that they are sexy.
what the fuck is friction
why does it turn force into other types of energy
why do different materials lead to different energy types, including electrical currents
We aren't doing your homework.
Not OP but why can you move objects with force equal to friction?
Why would it start moving when Ftotal is 0?

He's just smart enough to know he's an astrophysicist and his authority ends at astrophysics.

He believes in God even though he's a scientist, so he's already been an idiot since the day he opened up to bullshit fairy-tales and woo-woo
>>8865229
Answer the following question: do you believe yourself to be more intelligent than every scientist and intellectual figure, past or present, who has believed in God?
Is there a formula or rule that proves that squares are the most efficient use of perimeter to have the biggest area ? I get it but I cant explain it properly.

Circles > squares.

You see, Geometric Spaces are a Spectrum...
>>8865046
What do you mean by geometric space?
>>8865046
...of Unital Commutative Rings
>>8865046
>tfw childhood is using commutative rings to build the structure sheaf while adulthood is realizing topological ring spectra makes more sense.
redpill me on toxicology
>>8865026
First you have to understand that toxicology is on a spectrum.
>>8865026
Every substance you took has a therapeutic RANGE; above the upper limit of that INTERVAL, you get an overdose which may be lethal; under the down limit of that SPACE, you don't get the effect you're searching when taking a substance.
The same happens with toxics, but with unwanted effects every time the down limit of the SCALE is reached

Is the Field worth going into?
I understand the special properties of e^x, how the value is the same as the area under the curve and so on, but like, why that number specifically? How the fuck did Euler figure that out?
Take the derivative of the Taylor expansion brainlet
>>8865020
It was discovered when playing around with the limits of series that arise in finance.
Was Euler on the spectrum?
