Is there a way to measure intelligence not counting IQ tests? I ask because IQ test and standardized test put me at (120-130) but I do stupid mistakes frequently.

For example, I am a horrible speller, forget words when I type/write, forget to pluralizes words, make bad driving mistakes, fill wrong answer on tests, forget email attachments, mess up my timesheet, bad at arithmetic (but good at abstract math), mark wrong date on calender and show up to an interview a week early, etc etc.

I know everyone makes mistakes but they happen to me a lot more than normal. People who don't know about my academic success think I am an airhead. If am only good at abstract concepts and pattern recognition am I truly smart? I feel like a part of my brain is deficient.

I'm pretty similar and I think it's because my mind is always somewhere other than what I'm doing, whenever I do something that doesn't require much thought I just go into autopilot
>>
>>9156462
many of these can be explained by executive function differences which is distinct from IQ.
>>
>>9156474
I have been telling myself this but admittedly I think my case is more than just autopilot. I have to proof check everything I do and still I'll mess up somehow. It's like my mind is full of blind spots.

Are Eco-Halogen lightbulbs any different from Halogen lightbulbs, or is it just some marketing term designed to emphasise the marginal energy efficiency Halogen lightbulbs have over regular old incandescent lightbulbs?

I broke a lightbulb of the exact brand in the OP pic a year ago. I'm not sure if they're any different from a regular halogen bulb -- they look identical in terms of construction at least.

I fuckin hope they're not hazardous or some shit, because I just assumed it'd be like any another halogen bulb and threw the broken bulb in the trash

NO, THEY DO NOT
when I used to go to another board whose name is irrelevant and left as an exercise for the reader, I would get in this argument a lot with fags who cite that "every possible situation imaginable" bullshit

If there is a multiverse and if there are infinite universes in the multiverse (which there aren't necessarily), that does not mean that all conceivable realities exist, because not all infinities are equal. You could have infinite universes that all vary from each other only slightly. You could do nothing but change the position of a single star, or even a single rock on some moon somewhere to infinite distinct states, and still achieve infinite distinct universes.

With the amount of data and computing technologies we have now, it might be. That being said, it would probably have significant error.

Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you know some good places to find textbooks.

I'm trying to find:

I haven't been able to find it, the closest I got was http://paperbackstation.net/quirky/foundations-of-mathematics-with-geometry-trigonometry-and-statistics-none.php but I guess they closed their registration so I cant get the link to download it. And ideas anons?

>A fully developed hurricane can release heat energy at a rate of 5 to 20x1013 watts and converts less than 10% of the heat into the mechanical energy of the wind. The heat release is equivalent to a 10-megaton nuclear bomb exploding every 20 minutes. According to the 1993 World Almanac, the entire human race used energy at a rate of 1013 watts in 1990, a rate less than 20% of the power of a hurricane.

Link: http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/C5c.html

So, why not build a hurricane trap to generate power for the world?

Hello everyone

I wish to know the formula for calculating how much probability do I have of getting same numbers on some d10s.

For example, how much probable is to get a double (1,1 or 2,2 or 3,3 etc) on 3d10?
And a triple (1,1,1 or 2,2,2 etc)?

I just need the formula and some explanation (bonus), I think i can figure out the rest.

Thank you very much in advance

Thanks Idol girl anon, care to answer since you already got thanked twice?
>>
Use the binomial distribution for n = 2 (double) or n = 3 (triple) with p = 1/10 (for d10)

This gives you the probability of one set of doubles (1,1) or triples (1,1,1). Multiply by 10 (for d10) to get all possible sets.

I don't start community college until January. Ive dabbled into python and C#. I want to continue with C# and learn C++ afterwards. I'm a 19 year old geek who clearly just got into coding not too long ago. What advice do you have that I can prepare by practicing within these months? What math should I brush up or learn? Anything else? I didnt take AP classes in highschool. I'm also worried about transferring to an university. Afraid I won't be able to get a job or that I'll hate my job. I want to cry lmao. Thanks in advance. Going to be honest I want to be a musician but I barely have time to develop talent and I'm not interested in being famous. Honestly indie scene is for affluent kids. Even as a programmer I would like to do music on the side. Tech and music are the only things I find solace in my shit life. Thanks again.

What the fuck are you on about? Nobody is going to care how good you are at coding in an introduction class. I'm not even sure if that's your main concern. Seems you like don't know what the fuck you're doing at all m8.

If tech is one of the ways you find solace in your life, then how do you not know anything about tech? Are you just saying that?

>If tech is one of the ways you find solace in your life, then how do you not know anything about tech? Are you just saying that?

Not OP and I may be projecting but when I was a kid (like 14) I spent almost all of my time in front of a computer on the internet so I thought that I should go into tech because I spent so much time with it, despite not knowing too much about how tech works.

That may be what OP means. That he has been all his life with "tech" and now feels like going into "tech". It makes sense but after I grew up I realized that making that argument is like saying I find solace in toilet paper because I spend time with toilet paper all the time. So my tech thing was just a phase (I went into math for college) and I believe the same is happening with OP. And looking at how suicidal everyone in CS is I honestly believe wanting to be a programmer is a phase for everyone and some people grow out of it too late.

Do animals have the capacity to lie?

Everything with a brain is consious you moron. Sapient or sentient is what I believe you are looking for. Some dogs have the approximate mental capacity of a 5 year old and im sure there's evidence somewhere of them lying. Just because they lack the ability to speak doesnt mean they are thoughtless automata. Im willing to bet there are dolphins and orcas out there that are smarter than most humans.

They're arcing caused by overhead lines coming down during a powerful earthquake.

They're almost always associated with powerful quakes, and powerful quakes also mean power outages somewhere. Electricity arcing is very, very, bright.
