I've heard about the big freeze theory and dark energy, but I can't seem to fully understand either. If some form of energy is making the universe expand at an increasing rate indefinitely, isn't it doing work? By spreading matter/space? If so, how is it not perpetual energy? If it is the result of quantum fluctuations producing a net gain in energy (or dark energy), isn't it zero point energy?

And if zero point energy is naturally occurring in a grand cosmological scale, wouldn't it be physically possible at some point to use it locally? In such a scenario, space may continue to spread indefinitely, but the mechanism it uses to expand does not conserve energy and could just as much be intentionally harnessed to create energy and "stay warm" indefinitely too.

"Recent theoretical progress indicates that spacetime and gravity emerge together from the entanglement structure of an underlying microscopic theory. These ideas are best understood in Anti-de Sitter space, where they rely on the area law for entanglement entropy. The extension to de Sitter space requires taking into account the entropy and temperature associated with the cosmological horizon. Using insights from string theory, black hole physics and quantum information theory we argue that the positive dark energy leads to a thermal volume law contribution to the entropy that overtakes the area law precisely at the cosmological horizon. Due to the competition between area and volume law entanglement the microscopic de Sitter states do not thermalise at sub-Hubble scales: they exhibit memory effects in the form of an entropy displacement caused by matter. The emergent laws of gravity contain an additional `dark' gravitational force describing the `elastic' response due to the entropy displacement. We derive an estimate of the strength of this extra force in terms of the baryonic mass, Newton's constant and the Hubble acceleration scale a_0 =cH_0, and provide evidence for the fact that this additional `dark gravity~force' explains the observed phenomena in galaxies and clusters currently attributed to dark matter."

I know not everything can get condensed to brainlets food.
What I think this means is
>the effects that result in net expansion only occurs at sizes too large to feasibly use.
Is that anywhere near correct?
>>

You're wrong but it would take too long to explain so I'll just call it you a brainlet instead

Will apes evolve someday?
Will they learn to talk, or to build more complex
constructions?
What other specie/s have the possibility to evolve like humans did?
25 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>8938718
Yes they will and they'll probably overtake niggers. Africa will only catch up with Europe after new apes will take over.
>>
>>8938718
All species undergo constant evolution, with spikes of change and periods of relative conservatism but it's still an evergoing process.
>>
>>8938718
no
no
none
apes (and pretty much everything else) are they way they are and not like us, because they've reached an evolutionary equilibrium and settled for what they had, now we completely dominate the environment and whether deliberately or not, we will choke anything that tries to break the status quo to death.
If you don't fully follow that last part, feel free to ask, otherwise I don't feel like writing a litany if everyone gets it.

>*blocks your science*

How can we stop shit like this from happening? Can we start a grass roots campaign or lobby the right people? Who the fuck do you write to and complain about this shit? Is if just down to writing your congressmen and/or voting at the lowest level to trickle up to the higher levels? Making sure the local schools and governing body of the schools are lobbied and informed?

I just want popsci to be cleaned up from all the broscience, pseudo-science, and outright fake propaganda. I believe this shit is seriously harming the future of legit science for generations to come.

I sure as hell don't have money, let alone money to throw at something like this. Thus, my only avenue of approach would be grass roots stuff. I'd prefer showing real science that people want to see to keep them away from the "bad science." That plus educating them to spot the difference between the two is essential. I'd rather not directly vilify, especially since it seems some of the popsci is doing that on its own.

What's wrong with doing it yourself (or equivalently, paying someone you approve of to do it for you)?

That is the exact question being ask. What is the best way to go about such an endeavour? Also, just by posting this thread, some action is being taken.
>>
The only response is to punish the people producing this stuff by no longer buying their products/services. Companies are afraid to piss off e.g. feminists because it causes a huge negative backlash. If we were to start creating the same backlashes, stuff like this would never happen.

Most of the stuff by Umberto Eco. No shit, his research, and what he does with it, is very good. Not exactly STEM, but related and impressive.

Also 'Biochemistry' by Stryer, and the 'Biochemical Pathways' posters by Boehringer (yes, the company).

And what blows my mind every time is identifying a star in the nightly sky and then looking up its wikipedia entries.

But writing a thesis on your own is what forms your mind and your ability of critical thinking the most.

Introducing the concept of infinity means you have no meaningful scales anymore. Is 10^200 big? Is a magnetic field of 100 Tesla big? You don't know, because everything is 0 compared to infinity. I can just endlessly keep giving new numbers which dwarf the previous.

I thought this was a board for smart people. People who could think deeper and look at possibility. But I come here and it's people struggling to understand math problems created from the thoughts of men before them. I see college kids arguing complex theory with a tiny window of perspective. I see "smart" people who are too stupid to plan their careers. I see people talking about reading mediocre books or fucking math books in their spare time like it's a badge of honor.

This board is depressing. This board is the website version of pic related.

Why do people struggle so much with math?
Can you be born stupid?
Did you have to study a shit ton to understand or were you naturally gifted?

Why do people struggle so much with math?
People literally process and retain information differently.
Can you be born stupid?
Duh.
Did you have to study a shit ton to understand or were you naturally gifted?
99% of people will need to study even if naturally gifted. Even the great geniuses needed to study. The difference is the acceleration and ceiling of your understanding compared to normies.
>>
>>8940687
>The difference is the acceleration and ceiling of your understanding compared to normies.
Yeah but why does that happen? Is it bound to genetics? Interest?
>>
>>8940684
>Why do people struggle so much with math?
because you don't really need it in average life. so the brain turns it off.
