I just realized something regarding gender differences in sexuality.
We all know that men objectify women. We see a nice body, or even a nice body PART, and we want to fuck it.
But women objectify men, too, right? WRONG. Let's look at what women find attractive in men.
There are only a few PHYSICAL traits that women are consistently drawn to: height, musculature, and to some extent, a "masculine face".
What NON PHYSICAL traits do women like? Fame, success, power, dominance, etc.
What do these traits have in common? They both demonstrate capability.
Being famous, influential, and rich means that you can enforce your will on others. Being tall and strong means you can...enforce your will on others. A "masculine face" is probably just a proxy that correlates with testosterone levels or something too.
So in short, men OBJECTIFY women, and women SUBJECTIFY men. The more of a "subject" a man is (the more capable he is of enforcing his will on the environment around him), the more attractive of a mate he is.

Yes, you rationalized what Dave Chappelle said back in 2000.
Only he did a better job that wasn't full of autism.

You've made a contentious merelogical assumption. Prove that a body has parts other than its self.

Is there anything wrong with it? It gets made fun of a lot, but it doesn't seem to actually be bad in theory. It's essentially just hyping up what humankind will already do in the future (if they don't JUST themselves to extinction) but sooner than reasonably expected.
Do you agree with crazy Kurzweilan timelines or think it'd take much longer?
If I understand it correctly, the purpose is to eliminate aging to allow civilization to think on the scope of longer timescales? In essence, if you have reason to worry about more than 80 years as an individual, you will take more effort in ecology/space colonization/longer term existential hazards for humanity.
And speaking of long time scales since I didn't get an answer in a previous thread: Do protons decay, or are we just trying to figure out how to make them decay to fit a Theory of Everything? I've only seen articles that say it either doesn't happen or happens 10^11 times further in the future than the universe is old.
Also do you guys think our current model for the creation and fate of the universe is as good as it'll get, or will we eventually return to an ageless universe theory?

This was already the second post on /sci/
Prove that the reflection matrix:
[math]
S = \begin{bmatrix}
2x^{2} - 1 & 2xy\\
2xy & 2y^{2} - 1
\end{bmatrix} [/math] is of the form [math]\begin{bmatrix}
a & b \\
b & -a
\end{bmatrix} [/math] where [math]a^{2} + b^{2} = 1[/math]
Proof:
[eqn]a = -(-a) [/eqn][eqn]2x^2-1 = 1-2y^2 [/eqn][eqn]2x^2 - 2 = -2y^2 [/eqn][eqn]2(x^2 -1) = -2y^2 [/eqn][eqn]x^2 - 1 = -y^2 [/eqn][eqn]x^2 + y^2 = 1 \;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\; [1][/eqn]
[eqn](2x^2 - 1)^2 + (2xy)^2 = 1 [/eqn][eqn]4x^4 - 4x^2 + 1 + 4x^2y^2 = 1 [/eqn][eqn]4x^2(x^2 - 1 + y^2) = 0 \;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\; [2] [/eqn]
now plugin [1] into [2]:
[eqn]4x^2(1 - 1) = 0 [/eqn]
Nice [math]\LaTeX[/math].
Have your [math]\color{green}{\mathbb{BUMP}}[/math].

Guys im trying to figure out calculus so as an beginner level question I wanted to calculate the area of any circle with radius r.
I did this in two ways, one way worked, the other one didnt, and I have no idea why not.
Bascially I did the following in the first one: I split the circle into smaller circles, then I calculated all the Circumfrences of all dr's and summed them up. With that method I get the Integral over 2*Pi*r dr which of course solves to Pi*r^2.
This is A in the attached image.
In B I first split the circle into 4 quadrants, then I tried defining the relations of all the little rectangles that are dx * y, I noticed that y is variable, and a function of x, so I drew out what the function must be by using Theta, it turned out to be y(x) = sin(arccos(x/r)
Then I took the Integral of these y(x) * dx from x=0 to x=r, which is one quadrant of the circle. This evaluated to (Pi*r)/4, multiplying by 4 should give me the Area of all 4 Quadrants combined, so Pi*r.
This is as we know not correct, its supposed to be Pi*r^2, im just so confused to where exactly I am missing out on the second r, since the method itself doesnt look that flawed to me.
Many thanks in advance!
Might be valueable:
I evaluated the Integral in Method B from 0 to r, as the quadrant only goes from x=0 to x=r

Shouldnt y(x)=r sin (theta)

1) you would need geometrically perfect mirrors
2) even mirrors with highest possible efficiency have big looses of reflected light so transport of "compressed light" is not an option
3) any mirrors we can make would melt as soon as stage 2
I was watching the ISS Earth live stream and saw a strange cloud formation which looked like a nearly perfect circle. Is this a natural occurring cloud formation? Pic related
aliens.
>>8978928
Yeah they are. I forget what they're called, something like a drop formation I think?
They're actually pretty common, but they're often not visible from the ground. They occur when the water vapor in the cloud is chilled, then once one molecule is excited and freezes, the effect spreads outward uniformly.
Samething as when you chill a water bottle and smack it

Economicfag here!
Can we discuss a little about the implication of an inflation less than 1% in an open economy?
Extra Points: ... And what is the relation ship of the effects of an economy with that inflation in the productivity of the country? (open economy)
I know that exists a relationship between the inflation and unemployment, wich is somehow related with the productive funcion of a country. Also, that constant inflation lower that one in the long run says that the economy is stagnant... but why?
>>8974599
Not a science.
I know that the inflation is a reflect of the speed of the transactions in the country, a country without transaccions is a super slow economy and the interchange of G&S occur really slow, slowing down the economy ergo reducing investment wich translates in less people working? o it could be a monetary policy to avoid the erosion of the debt?
