What are you thoughts on qualitative research? Memes aside, do you think we can come up with accurate descriptions/explanations of complex social phenomena using in?
I'd like to read some actual answers and not just "it's not science", no SJW bullshit intended.
Webm related, social phenomena we cannot explain with numbers.
>>8987085
you wont get an honest answer here.
and you dont deserve one either
>>8987088
Have some more social happening while you think about it twice.
Asians are weird
Sorry, if you think this is inappropriate here. But I find it more comfortable to ask you guys for advice since most of you likely have on average a much higher education then the guys that frequent advice /Advice or /r9k or whatever.
So some of you probably had encountered this problem in college.
Or didn't, because you had superior study habits to begin with.
Anyway,
What's the best way I can keep myself focused on studying.
I want to spend time working/studying as much as I can. But keep getting distracted or stress/worry gets to me and it's hard to keep working.
Or I get hyped because the stuff I'm studying is fun to me etc.
Something always breaks my concentration.
So what do you guys do to keep your mind on the task?

I also want to become study-bot. Transcend all gay-chans and become a man i desire to be. Also i want to become less gay and edgy. I just got to college and all i do is just meme online. What do /sci/ killing myself is the best option but then i'm too scared to do it. There's no point in life than to be successful in your field. BUT HOW CAN I DO THAT? Want to be a good programmer but can't even get myself to fucking learn anything. I am confirmed brainlet.
>>8986925
I know your pain. *hugs*
>>8986918
lol. just relax kid. try meditating. if you enjoy the material, which it sounds like you are, then don't worry about grades or achieving a certain outcome (even a future one) and just enjoy learning the material. Don't do it for your ego.
Hello /sci/, I was wondering if we could have an educated discussion on the recent hetero-fascination with transgender women.
I don't feel like thinking up different fancy words to describe this in a politically correct or "scientific" way, so I'll just come out and say it. I am completely straight and would absolutely destroy pic related, despite the biological similarities.
Why is this?
>>8986236
This is /sci/.
/sci/ does not understand anything not put in terms of mathematics. If you could restate what you said in terms of radians, meters, limits, and such instead of socio-political terms like hetero-facination and women. What is a woman anyway?
>>8986236
You're not completely straight, in fact you are a faggot.
The reason your masters in the (((media))) have been telling you "it's not gay to fuck men!" is because they want you to fail as a man and not to pass on your evildumb white genes.
>>8986236
source of pic?
If Asians have higher IQs than Europeans then why are European nations more developed and contributed much more in all the fields.
Could there be another factor other than IQ like creativity?
I don't think IQ is tied to genetics. You keep seeing those indices changing over the years, due to improvement in education. Also, I am guessing that the Chinese are so high because of their writing system. IQ tests are all about abstract images.
>>8984341
>I don't think IQ is tied to genetics
What?
That's exactly what IQ is, your genetic intelligence. It's not something you can raise by hardwork or study.
>>8984350
It literally is though. You can train problem solving and logic reasoning just like you can train any other skill.
/sci/ can you tell me where I am going wrong? What am I not seeing?
I'm suppose to solve the equation
>>8995062
sin^2 theta minus itself is zero not negative sin^2theta
>>8995083
im getting:
1sin^2 x being subtracted by 2sin^2 x
1-2 is -1
1sin^2-2sin^2 = -1sin^2
>>8995062
theta is quadratical to the minus, you have to use the feces theory that is derived from feceticus FUCK FUCK FUCK
Can pain cause brain/nerve damage? As in getting, for example, your leg stuck in a meat grinder for long fucking time and when they find you, you are mentally dead.
If it can, why is there no pain threshold? I get that pain is supposed to help you know that you are being hurt, but why does pain get so intense that you are mentally, not physically, prevented from taking any action? It's more of a handicap at that point...
>>8992840
the body isnt always logical and perfect xdddd
You would just go into shock and fall unconscious pretty quickly.
Consider also that sometimes debilitating pain has an advantage, since most injuries are aggravated by movement. Just staying still and giving your body a chance to heal could save you in some situations.
>>8992840
Pain is pain its not disinhibiting completely. Even massive pain while disorienting can be compartmentalized
Massive pain is reliably followed shortly thereafter with endogenous dopamine production which helps you do useful things, like dial 911 with your stumps.
Hi, I've been reading through baby Rudin and have learnt the following:
1. There are countably many rational numbers (m/n)!
OK, that one is easy to prove and understand.
2. There are uncountably many real numbers (impossible to express by m/n)!
This means that there are infinitely more real numbers than rational numbers. OK.
3. Between any two real numbers there is a rational numbers.
This is also proven, and can be even further developed, that between any two irrational numbers there are infinitely many rational numbers.
Here's my problem now So, ok, the number of IRRATIONAL numbers is infinitely many times larger than the number of RATIONAL numbers (uncountable infinity v countable infinity).
Yet somehow, between any two irrational numbers there are infinitely many rational numbers.
Fuck Math!
yes, but between any two irrational numbers, there are countably many rational numbers, but uncountably many irrational numbers. So even if there is infinite amounts of both between any two numbers, there is significantly more irrationals
>>8991492
>there is significantly more irrationals
They're infinite so there are not more of one than of the other
>>8991484
>the number of IRRATIONAL numbers is infinitely many times larger than the number of RATIONAL numbers (uncountable infinity v countable infinity).
>Yet somehow, between any two irrational numbers there are infinitely many rational numbers.
>Fuck Math!
Dont waste your time with this nonsense, study useful math instead
I walked into a warehouse that I later learned was a factory for polyurethane foam for solar panel shingles that go on roofs. Nothing was on or being produced or anything, the foam was just sitting there and the place smelled like shit. How dangerous it to be in a warehouse where closed cell polyurethane foam is produced? I was in the warehouse for a few minutes?
You will die in seven days.

is that level of cleavage age appropriate?
So we all agree that the standard base 10 should be replaced by a base that is a power of 2. Now the only question that remains is if 8 16 or 32 is the best number.
Almost all people have no problem learning a 25+ letter alphabet, so 32 being too large is not an argument
Does S come before U, or after it? Does H come before or after L? Just because people know letters it doesn't mean they know their order and place instantly like they do numbers. Most people have to sing the entire fucking song to figure out which letter comes before or after which.
>>8991844
We don't agree with that anon, fuck off.
>>8991867
>Most people have to sing the entire fucking song to figure out
lamo brainlet
Also you "practice" the order of numbers 100 times more often than the order of letters
Does anyone have a youtube channel or video that explains to me how computers work at a fundamental level?
Things I don't understand are everything about how data is stored and how storage size has reduced over time.
I don't understand how hole punch cards were used to make computers. I really don't understand anything about computers.
I know how to build a PC, you put the parts on the motherboard and google the rest. I completely lack the actual mechanisms that make a computer work, and it seems like I should know that.

If my birthday is 1/20/85 and my fiancée's birthday is 4/27/98 in 2019 we approach Phi. On what day of the year will our ages be closest to 1.618 ratio?
>>8991493
Why are you marrying someone 13 years younger than you?
>>8991496
Classic Ḉunny
Does that really matter? I know couples 17 years apart. Seems to matter less the older you get.
Hey. TOT
Ok so
>let's just say I recently studied code
>I got this problem that if let's start from the beginning
>all of humanity, that is based in a computer coded version of itself that is consequently becoming self aware
> I'm a worker that performs at this company that got asked that question
>I'm a loser and I want to answer this question because it promises at least another +2 in life as a whole so then it's possible for CEO money and bitches
>step one: decipher this shit
>step two: answer it
>apply solution
>Wait 5 years
>during that time rediscover
Then put that back into the fabric of the code itself?
>What the fuck should I base all of this on as far as a coding language goes?
>2spooky4me
As o you're a student that studies code and you're asked a question:
If you were to base a program of the entire history of humanity linked as a single source file in which the eyes of every human that has ever lived is covered as far as information exists, what programming language would you use and where would you begin the programming
>>8991059
Also that's a very spooky concept for a language
>>8991043
that is that gayest way to remember V = I R and P = I V that i have ever seen. congrats
Let's do something different today, /sci/. ITT we post funny or interesting news stories about scientists or mathematicians. I'll start:
I was doing some research and came across this by pure coincidence. Thought it was pretty funny.

He probably deserved it

the thing about non-brainlets is when they day dream they think about numbers.
One weekend these physics students at Cal Tech were taking a break from studying and go out cruising around Pasadena. They see this hippie van up ahead, with an amateur custom paint job. You know, like flowers or something. Except instead of any of the usual stuff, it's Feynman Diagrams. So at a red light they pull next to him and yell, "hey, dude, why you go Feynman diagrams on your van?!" And then the driver leans out and yells back, "because I'm Richard Feynman!"

matlab is retarded. mathematica is nice. python is ezpz best thing ever.
My diffy-q instructor is making me get Maple.
