I am returning to school in the fall and will be taking Calc I/II/III/Diff Eq over the next two years. What should I study before then to be successful, as someone who has been in the workforce and forgot all the math they learned in high school?

So at what level are you at now, can you do trigonometry, do you know what a function is? Get a precal book and go over those things they'll be used everywhere in those courses. Those 4 courses are basically "drill courses" where you have to do a bunch of problems using a few techniques and the only thing that separates each problem is tricky substitution or trigonometry or using logarithms.

So if you can get to know : exponentials, logarithms, trigonometry functions, then you can ace those 4 courses. The techniques they teach you there are super easy, it's the trig and other stuff that makes people fail.
>>
If you want an A in Calc I, definitely know everything through Calc III and get a head start on real analysis.

Well, isn't anything that isn't math rooted in some underlying belief or assumption?

>mathematical axioms
>not a belief

The belief needs to be TESTED via a METHOD, then it becomes science.

How do I get into artificial neural networks and machine learning as a hobbyist? I have above beginner-level python skills.

>inb4 python is for plebs
>inb4 some amateur is trying to tackle one of the most complex fields of computer science

I'm just curious bruh.

It's actually not that hard to understand and implement. You just won't be able to do crazy neural networks.
>>
>>9044686
>as a hobbyist
you learn some toolkit.
don't waste your time trying to understand any of this shit or trying to invent something new since you need stats 1 & 2, calc 1,2 & 3, and diff equations as a minimum prereq for ANNs.

good luck.
>>
>>9044696
I have a physics degree and I already took all of those classes.

I'm just looking for a crash course that doesn't start with "this is how you make lists in python..."

I'm going to college for environmental science technologies, and I would love to do some volunteer work, try and help out a bit. But I can't find any volunteer work relating to the environment in my area, other than like the adopt a lake stuff, which I can't find any groups doing. How do I find volunteer work? Anybody know any places? I'm in North Carolina if that helps.

When are we going to terraform Earth?

When we are a global white ethnostate
>>
I wouldn't mind if we greened all the deserts

And we are sort of already did it, parts of the Amazon are abandoned food forests and the
Middle East, Sahara and parts of Australia used to be much greener (though there is debate whatever humans were the culprit)

That's boring. When are we gonna terraform Mars? I want it to be like Cowboy Bebop where all the rich people move to Mars and Earth becomes even more of a shit hole

I've stopped studying mathematics ever since graduating high school four years ago, so my current knowledge is limited to derivatives and whatnot.
I've recently taken an interest in learning about math, and more specifically, computer science and quantitative finance.
I'm not exactly sure where I should start and what I should aim for, given how low my current level is and how broad those subjects are.
Could I get some suggestions?

Also, I've never been particularly gifted at math, and unlike some people here, I don't have a natural, intuitive understanding of mathematical concepts.
Will this give me trouble at some point if I plan to study financial math and CS?

Stay outta pure math. No real analysis, no topology. The areas of math you should look at are Applied Linear Algebra and Statistics. Go find some textbooks and start doing some problems
>>
>>9040586

If you are talking about that book, they use a lot of examples that require some basic knowledge of math. For example in the first chapter one of the examples they give is a program for finding roots using Newton's method, which requires some basic knowledge of calculus.

In general though, you don't need to know any math to study CS.
>>
>>9040595
>Applied Linear Algebra and Statistics
Are those basic enough that I can dive right in?
I just remembered I own a book about basic math, with explanations and exercises about the fundamentals of trigonometry, algebra, calculus etc. Is that not necessary?
>>9040606
No, I'm not talking about SICP in particular.
>you don't need to know any math to study CS
I'm interested in the more theoretical parts like algorithms, ML, and cryptography. Not much about the practical aspect, I already know how to program.

How does evolution work? It's not a conscious thing, how can a fish, for example, develop a fucking lamp? How does it know light is needed in darkness? How does it start to develop that extra part that produces light? I know it's not something random, but some stuff seem too much. Is it possible to adapt to everything, like if it was necessary could we develop limbs that worked as flamethrowers etc?

Sorry, I know I sound like a retard, I don't know English that well, I really don't know how to explain better what I'm trying to ask.

>>
Fish gets mutation to make light is very succeful fish has light on protrusion even better over time this can cause evolution
>>
>>9027591
But how would the intermediate form function with only a half/quarter/eighth of a light or protrusion to hold said light? Such an animal would probably be swallowed by something larger before it ever captures anything itself. Only thing to fill the gaping hole in this would be some ad hoc story, in which he "probably" developed them in tandem, or they served a different function beforehand, despite the complete lack of fossils in that regard.
>>
>>9027591
How does it know how to imitate light, do our bodies also have the knowledge to grow a flashlight if it was necessary?

Hello friends,

I've come to you again for answers.
I'm considering doing nuclear engineering but I'm concerned about its jobs prospects (this is kinda important for me because 3rd world country), what else can you do with the aforementioned degree besides:
Work in pic related
Nuclear medicine
I know there's some burgers that work in subs, but I doubt they'll hire a foreigner for that.
Also, I suppose it's really necessary to have a PhD to have better opportunities (I guess that when the time comes I'll know what it's gonna be about), but I don't know about other areas besides nuclear med, and nuclear plants.

Can someone give me the quick rundown job opportunities?

thanks.

look at your government's job listings...
Why wouldn't your own country let you work in a sub if they have them? Stop trying to steal US jobs nigger.
>>
>>9048119
what do you think a nuclear engineer does

i think you just like the name of it
>>
Currently studying Nuclear E.
-You can design new plants to be built
-There's lots of research and consulting opportunities
-Fusion my guy

I hear in America it goes up to 4 only and anything else is basically a fail?

I was graded out of 100 and a few points on that definitely counts as the robots will bin your CV below a certain cut off.

Same in America. I know cs degrees that had shit GPAs and now they clean keyboards and reset routers for 25k a year because a human never even sees their resume.

Why does your hair stand on end when you detect that there is some unknown entity moving about in the dark? Why does any sound make you feel anything? Why can you recognize rhythms and patterns, and predict outcomes or cross-associate?

That basic machinery is at work to produce high level results.

North of where you started.
