Can someone recommend me some good science audiobooks for laymen? I recently enjoyed Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan. Anyone got know of anything good along those lines?
Is a trans woman a woman?
/lgbt/ thinks feels > reals so im here for a more consice answer.
>>9062691
no
fuck off
>>9062691
Nice elite hacker group image faggot.
This is a symantics question of how you define the word "woman", not a science question.
If you mean woman as in "a female human" then no, a trans woman is not a woman. They are genetically not female, they can't give birth and their chromosomes are wrong.
If you mean "convenient contrived definition some transexuals came up with" then sure, they're women, whatever.
Is there a way to rotate a line about some point like pic related in Matlab? I can't find anything that has worked, you guys are my last hope.
>>9062652
the first thing that came to my head was to have 2 rays come out from that point, one in the direction of the axis, and another in whatever direction you wish
i hope this helped, i don't use matlab very often
>>9062652
Construct the unit vector of the line containing the point whose starting point is the point. Rotate that vector using the rotation matrix. Then construct the line generated by the new vector and the point.
What exactly is the job outlook for an astrophysics? Is it easy to get a job as one?

We're a bunch of high IQers. How did this trick work?
Take a standard five-year Capra aegagrus hircus. Goats are naturally aware that they eat anything and continue to eat till the man or the head goat stops violently. They often survive and destroy the environment. As we all know, these are one of the popular explanations for Middle East desertification with a large goat population.
I did not read the biological mechanism that allows them to eat so much because I am very busy but I was curious that a goat who is extremely hungry and nothing can stop it is possible to consume the whole life on Earth and the planet Leaving a bare apocalyptic wasteland.

You're from Africa right?

No
Dark matter is visible in redshift galaxies and is now being hypothesized to be unreactive sub atomic particles. If that were the case gravitational lensing would have deduced that it interacts with itself only to relocate after galaxy clusters are formed. If it were unreacting particles how are they traveling without electrons protons and neurons influencing the energy behind it? It's more than a gravitational glue. And must be responsive in some way shape or form.
Will someone explain to me what exactly degrees of freedom means in stats?
Accounting for variance in variables and some shit
>>9062516
yes
>>9062516
this isnt exactly an enlightening response, this much is generally gathered already
The other day I found a mathematical puzzle in a textbook and after awhile I figured out a solution that involved taking one set of numbers in a pattern and associating them with another set of numbers in a pattern.
Anyways, I started to look closer at these new associated sets. I noticed that no matter what patterned set I associated with other patterned sets, even if my choice of sets were random, the result is always a new and alternating patterned set of numbers.
Surely this has to be an established axiom or I'm just a dumb-ass that noticed an arbitrary property. Anyways, I'm not sure where to look into this and ask questions.
Explanation, clarification, and 'brainlet' declaration are welcome.

Post what?

Have you ever done that before?
yeah but it ruins your dopamine neurons

Erdos did it but he was using amphetamines

If you love maths then sure you can do that. If you don't love maths then it would be torture and you wouldn't "absorb" much of any use.
If aliens showed up do you think they would differentiate smart people from dumb people or do you think they would look at earth like we look at an ant hill?
>>9062276
Well, in an ant hill there aren't visible differences between ants, you only see all of them working, if you observe humanity you will see a group of human dancing and singing around a fire to make it rain, and you will see some of them orbiting the earth. I think that they would see the difference
>>9062473
But most ants actually do not work. You perceive them to all be working therefore we can conclude the alien may or may not know the difference.
3% of ants working all the time

>>9062276
probably not since the difference is objectively small in the grand scheme of things.
Whats the best equation?
Are trannies real?
Is a math degree really just a meme?
Why doesn't nothing exist?
Is .99999... Really 1?
>>9062252
Euler's identity
Trannies are real, but the women they claim to be are not.
Only if you get it from a meme university
if anything can exist, nothing can exist
yes. Easily verified.
1/9=0.11111...
(1/9)*9 = 0.9999...
(1/9)*9 = 1
0.99999... = 1

non standard analysis exists

Why is it that height is highly heritable but intelligence is much less so?
If you have a couple who are 190cm and 182cm respectively, their kids will almost certainly be giants.
If you have a smart couple, say two college professors, their kids will be smart, however it seems to me that often times they will not be smarter than their parents. I.e. there is regression towards the mean.
Now what I find puzzling is, why isn't there also regression towards the mean in heritability of height?
>Now what I find puzzling is, why isn't there also regression towards the mean in heritability of height?
I'm quite sure there is.
