Help me /sci
I feel like i'm slowly declining, over the last couple of years i have become "slow". I don't recognize patterns as fast as i used too and even simple math is a problem now, anyone have a solution or any insight in why this is happening? Nothing much has changed in my life except that i got a more balanced life.
It almost feels as if the fact that i'm no longer getting challenged fucked me over? Does anyone know how to solve this and sharpen myself again?

Get challenged, obviously. Do math olympiad problems, for example.
>>9078857
Yea but ill need baby tier challenges
I have abandoned logic, yet I still use logic to proof the inherent flaws of logic.
Isn't that a paradox? Isn't that illogical?
I love it. Its beautiful. It makes no sense at all.
Indeed logic is by itself illogical. Do not even try to understand it.
When you do not understand logic, you understand logic perfectly.
Some people might accuse me of being a fool.
Are they not simply asserting what I say?
They are wasting their time on meaningless talk, just as I am.
Some people might think of me as a genius.
How foolish they are for listening to a fool.
Have pity on them.
If you understand not what I am saying,
you still have a lot to learn.
If you do understand what I am saying,
you have learned nothing at all.
This is was my thesis and proof on the inherent flaws of logic.
If it is a valid proof or not.
You decide

Being this mad about a shitpost, wew lad.
Pluck a rose and put it on your hat.
Ask for a hug from your dad.
Then your mood wont be so bad.
The likes of you inspire no fear in me.
Thank thee for thine gold medal.
I will hold it dearly

Recently someone I know mixed a strange concoction in a large mason jar, set it in the oven (for an unknown amount of time), resulting in a significant explosion that blew out the glass in the oven and shook the house. This person claimed they were making said concoction in order to ward off bugs (flies, mosquitos etc) in the house. I am nearly certain the reason given is false, and have fears that this person was trying to cause a larger explosion with ghastly potential consequences.
I am posting here to get the opinion of those more knowledgeable than I, and will certainly follow up with authorities should this point to the nefarious intentions that I suspect.
Also, I should mention the person who made the concoction has a background in chemistry, so they certainly had some understanding of what they were doing.
We were able to deduce what the person had mixed in the jar by observing the nearby containers of various substances. A list of these substances follow;
Lye
Sodium Hydroxide
Sulphuric Acid
Old English Oil - main ingredient C13-C14 Alkane
"Vision Pow" toilet bowel cleaner
Amaz water stain remover
Baking Soda
Vinegar
Liquid Drain Opener
Green container with label removed - substance inside was a green/blue/grey paste - possibly some type of miracle gro? - uncertain.
Any help would be appreciated. I have a strong feeling this person had criminally nefarious intentions and am ready to proceed with the authorities.
Is there any reasonable chance that someone with a chemistry background was NOT trying to concoct a bomb by mixing then heating these substances?
Also, if anyone can recommend a better place to post this please advise
Thanks for anyone's help. Will post followup if there's interest.

sounds like he had no idea what he was doing and mixed a bunch of household chemicals in a jar hoping they would create something. and then to put them in the oven? definitely had no idea what he was doing.
what probably happened was just a pressure bomb. Mixing sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide (which is lye by the way) is an extremely exothermic reaction which probably produced some volatile vapors which exploded the glass jar
id report it for idioticness
OP here, I should add that the oven was on, so he was heating this mixture. The resulting explosion was extremely loud, it blew the glass out in the oven door and shook the house.
OP here, bumping for visibility
Furthermore, we had concern about the release of hydrogen chloride gas - the toilet bowl cleaner "Vision Pow" contains hcl, and mixed with all these other acids and bases, it's reasonable for someone with a chemistry background to know about the potential release of hcl gas and it's toxicity.
Does /sci/ like this kind of videos or are as useless as "the others scientific videos on youtube"?

Is the universe infinite or finite? Which one has more evidence to support it?
>>9078753
Strictly speaking finite, because the universe is 'all there is to find'.
But nothing keeps it from expanding from the inside out.
The funny part is. We seem to discover more and more, but it was already there before we knew it.
>>9078753
Best data says it's flat so it's infinite.
I used to be a top of the generation student who could finish every class task in 1/10 of the time it took the rest.
Sadly, certain inconveniences have thrown me into a life of wagecuckery from my comfy academical lifestyle and my brain has started to rot to the point that just now i have forgotten in which order a long division is made.
Where and how can i learn math and general knowledge to keep brainrot away?

is coursera any good or is it hit/miss depending on the teachers?
Is there a good book (like pic. related), that covers a bit more complex DC/AC transistor/diode circuits?
I'm revising for a final exam coming up, and I learned a whole lot on s-domain and two port networks from this book, and did a lot of examples from it, but it's a bit light on transistors and won't really do me any good there. My prof. recommended pretty bad literature to study from, too much theory and too little examples, so I was wondering if there's middle ground book you could recommend, or even a full blown workbook?
>>9078716
sedra/smith is the best book i ever used
it's so clear you can actually read it cover-to-cover style
>>9078783
Funny you would mention that one, I actually got it way back, and hardly even opened it to be quite honest. I saw that it has almost 1.5k pages and that the examples weren't as complex as what we get in our finals, so I just discarded it in 5 minutes. I'll check again, but I'm pretty sure my professor is a sadist, and I won't actually find the type of problems he comes up with. Pic related.
Picture a perfectly orderly universe where everything is as orderly as it could get.
Any two points in the universe would have the same amount of energy since different
amounts of energy would imply a universe with more chaos. Since every point in this
universe has the exact same energy the universe would just be constant, only defined
by its total amount of energy. Constants are arbitrary, so we could give our universe
any constant and it would behave the same. A perfectly orderly universe with a total
energy of 1 would behave equally to one with total energy of 2. So since the total amount
of energy doesn't matter we can use 0 as total energy if we want, as long as everything
inside the universe has the same energy everywhere. But 0 energy, that's nothing!
Therefore: Perfect Order = Nothing

Based on that hypothesis, the optimum state must be death. In conclusion, kill yourself retard.
>>9078622
isnt that maximum entropy or am i confusing things?
>>9078687
Yeah, maximum entropy would be when all energy has dispersed evenly. Entropy isn't analogous with chaos though, it's more of an property that energy has.

So, in addition to being source material for special effects in "The Abyss," ctenophores now seem to have evolved nerves and a nerve network independently from other animals, using different genes and enzymes.
There seems to be a lot of conclusion-leaping in this article (for example, I'm not sure how many conclusions you can draw about ways a brain can evolve by looking at an animal that dopes not have a brain) and a click-baitish headline, but still an interesting read.

Hi guys, I need some 4chan help. It would be nice, if there are some doctors/endocrinologists here.
How can one increase their TSH levels before the test? Is it true that propranolol administration for 2-3 weeks can do this?
Hey guys, I seriously need someone's help.
Buy some Thyroid Hormone from pharmacy take it.
>>9078499
Coldness increases TRH and TSH. Take cold showers often, sleep without a blanket, stay cool.
I was playing Fallout and it got me thinking, how much radiation would it take for an average container (box, bag, wrapper, etc) of snack foods to become irradiated enough to be harmful?
Heads up, I don't actually fully understand the effects of gamma rays or whatever particle rays come from radioactive elements and compounds.
Depends.
Irradiation with gamma rays sterilises food. It kills bacteria/microorganisms and the food doesn't continue to emit radiation afterwards so it's perfectly safe.
Alpha particles are the most damaging to biological systems but they're blocked by cardboard or thin foil so the food inside a sealed container could be safe even if the container was irradiated.
Harm to humans is complicated to work out because it's about radiation dose delivered to sensitive tissues which depends on how the body absorbs specific radioisotopes and how they decay.

So when things are moving fast, they have a length contraction. I was wondering why this is: is this because the speed of light is the speed is the speed of existence? Apparently, magnetism is just electric fields at another perspective. Can someone explain this shit?
vibe-rayshunz nd shiet
>>9078337
Read up on special relativity and magnetism is a static field, while the electric field is moving charges of the same phenomenon.
>>9078337
>Apparently, magnetism is just electric fields at another perspective.
Magnetism is a tachyonic field. No joke.
