CAPTCHAs were a necessary evil against all the AnonTalk spam that was flooding the site relentlessly several years ago. Thread after thread on damn near every board. The site's founder was embedding malicious JS in images, posting them on /b/ and instructing /b/tards how to execute said scripts. Naturally, several underage faggots actually executed them and ended up having their computers turned into an army of AnonTalk spambots. I'm sure the mods tried blacklisting the spam IPs at first, but it didn't matter since the script continued to infect new systems.

The best workaround at this point is to revert to classic CAPTCHAs so you don't have to input multiple solutions.
