I just recently finished watching season 1 for the fifth time, for the first time without subs, gunna start working on doing the same with S2 soon

I like moe characters, I just don't like anime that has its focus completely on cuteness. It's nice to have something to make you think. Characters with flaws, conflicts that are actually daunting, foreshadowing, themes, a story arch. Without that element I can't enjoy it. Real dank animes have me watching multiple episodes in a sitting. Like a book I can't put down. I can't enjoy anime like K-On! and Yuru Yuri, God knows I've tried. I like the cuteness but it lacks the substance I require. It has no complexity or texture. It's like drinking soda as opposed to wine, or playing checkers instead of chess.

Also Serial Experiments Lain, Welcome to the NHK and Neon Genesis Evangalion both had waifu-tier characters while also having problems and development.

If you enjoy it by all means go ahead and watch it. But I sure as hell don't like it.
