While atheistic society would have been very beneficial in terms war, many of our beliefs in fiction would be completely lost. Also Communist turns Nationalism into the recommended (Sometimes Mandatory) religion, often with it's own fictitious dogma. Attempting a anti-religious society would be SOOO much easier with a fascist community.

If you sell yourself into slavery, you're still a slave. The idea of elected rulers is just plain illogical and utopian as well. We never see who is actually doing everything, the people behind public programs, the economy and so on. It's all put behind this one "great man" figurehead that exists for no reason other than itself. A president or prime minister is just another example of the ability of power to change its appearance in order to preserve itself.
