You don't just suddenly start feeling horny or thinking sexual thoughts out of nowhere, even if it might feel that way now. You reach a point where you can notice the thoughts, even if they're incredibly subtle, that precede desire.

Once you reach this point, you can develop ways to skillfully send your thoughts in a different direction and avoid the thoughts that lead to desire before they start.

Regardless, there are lots of different approaches and it's entirely possible as long as you're willing to put in the effort.
