Black guy currently studying STEM (sophomore pure math major) and it was only really bad during middle school and high school. People have said some funny stuff to me over the years, but it's not really as bad as you're painting it to be. I've had plenty of black friends and plenty of white friends in my life, and I probably would still have most of them if I didn't work so hard to isolate myself. I think it's actually been a pretty enlightening life especially since white people are usually comfortable enough around me expressing their prejudices and I've been able to sort of convince them, "hey, there are plenty of us that aren't like that."
