>Kinglake ranger Kim Hunter of Parks Victoria rescued the baby wombat from its mother's pouch after the mother was hit and killed by a car.
>The female wombat, Leah, weighed just 300 grams when it was rescued and had to be bottle-fed every four hours.
>Now five weeks old, Leah is doing well and weighs 650 grams, although has yet to grow any hair, Hunter told the Daily Mail.
>"Although she was uninjured, she was cold to the touch and I'd say she was only a few hours away from dying," Hunter told the British newspaper.
