I know r9k isnt the place for these types of discussions but I have read numerous accounts of dreams featuring men wearing hats and there appears to be an archetype or an expression of one that is "the man in black"
Jung documented it, he referred to his as the jesuit, but most people see top hats or some wide brimmed hat like a mexican style one
Its just interesting to think about, what these common dream characters really mean, of course i think freud took the view that "he represents a COCK!" just like with everything else

The Hat Man is a character in the Japanese PS1 video game LSD: Dream Emulator. He is also called the Shadow Man, Grey Man, Mysterious Gentleman and a few other nicknames. Although it's never stated outright, he is considered something of an antagonist.
