The reason your first example is "normie" is because it is the norm to follow it, SW/Avengers/Batman have a huge following, from children to adults, some having never read a comic, hence making it "the norm" to have seen them.

Sure it's similar for pleb animes like AoT/Death Note/Cowboy Bebop. But people who watch obscure anime, by definition, aren't the norm.
