A Professor at a state university is paid around 72000Euro (roughly 78000Dollar) in Germany. They definately make the upper 5% with that salary.
Also they often have parallel incomes from research or lectures. That lifts alot of them to the upper 1% of german incomes.
I don't think most of them would bother giving private lectures to students on a student's budget.
