I wouldn't even care if it weren't for the fact that so many of them claim to love/be obsessed with their hobby but are completely clueless about it. If you claim you're fucking amazing at CoD or LoL, but then I see you play and you're bad, I'm not gonna think highly of you're other opinions about gaming. At least be humble and say "Yeah, I'm not that great, I'm learning/just play for fun".

Now after writing this, I feel like I'm a catalyst for the problem. When a normie friend is playing a game and asks "hey, you're good at this, do you think I've gotten better?", I usually tell them "yeah, you've definitely improved since the last time I saw you", even though they haven't. If you try to give them constructive criticism they either ignore it and don't apply it, or they get mad. Feelings/appearance > ability/knowledge for normies.

I honestly feel bad for a lot of them because this applies to shit like their jobs and education too. They get into debt and aren't even worried about it until the loan shark's knocking.

I would say probably DBZ is the most normalfag anime if we're going by the western names (since it was only ever Dragonball in nipland). I don't know a single normalfag who has read it at all or watched any Dragonball prior to it being named DBZ however. I remember there was a time when I was in secondary school where literally every male watched DBZ.

Despite all of its shitty writing at times and endless anime filler, the DB manga is still an enjoyable read and Toriyama did some great work in it for a long, long period of time. I've more or less stopped watching any anime unless it's an adaptation of something I've read or unless I'm a fan of the director/some of staff (I'll watch literally anything directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and anything with Yoh Yoshinari as key animator).

As far as DB goes, I appreciate Toriyama made it up as he went along but most of the criticism DB gets is from the anime. The manga is still pretty solid. The art took a hit when he started drawring everyone really angular but around late DB/early DBZ his art was fantastic, simple but good and not overly detailed but with enough detail to not look bland, almost perfect for a comic book. And he still does the best motion lines for fights, everyone praises Murata for the stuff he does for OPM fights without realising that he's essentially expanding on a formula that Toriyama perfected.

I'm not mad people are liking what I like, I feel like if more people like x, then x will continue to grow. What I'm mad about is being harassed and picked on for liking something, and now since that something is the new big thing everyone pretends to like it and its fine.
