My mother was diagnosed several years ago with stage four breast cancer.

It was a slap in the face for all of us. As time went by, her hair started to fall out, she would barely eat, I had to help her dress in the morning and help her up and down the stairs. She was given a 5% survival chance.

But despite all of this, anon, I knew that if I let her see how broken I was, that she would break too. Be strong for your momma, alright? She's going to need your strength in the next few years. You can do this, for her.

I haven't been examined by a doctor in 11 years (I'm 28 now). What are the chances I can get cancer and not know about it until it's too late?

Had a cancer scare with my mum 2 years ago. Was the worst time of my life, she was really sick but it ended up not being cancer.

I'm sorry you're going through this. I doubt you're from the UK but when we were at the cancer clinic, we were assigned a personal nurse specialist who was there for support both on-site and on the phone. Hopefully you'll have one too.

When i was 18 years old my mom had a brain anuerism. a sub arachnoid hemorage to be exact.

she had no insurance, and was poor as fuck.
the doctors said that that type of stroke has roughly a 75-80 percent mortality rate. and those that do survive normally end up retarded or vegetables. My mom survived that night.
and she made it through surgery with flying colors, and was home a week later. and is absolutely fine now (given she has short term memory issues and some personality changes) but thats better than having a dead or veggie parent. especially since i have no dad and he hates me.


she also survived a rare form of cancer in the early 90s. back when they didnt know jack shit about it. they gave her 6 months to live. and she made it into remission in just under a year


People survive crazy shit man


and if they caught it early. its treatable as shit
even if they say its terminal. its not always written in stone.
