American, and both of my current cars are manual, as were the almost 20 I owned before it. The only auto I've ever had was my first car, which was a cheapo shitbox my parents bought me.

I live in Los Angeles, and have a long commute in stop-and-go traffic, too. It's a tradeoff, yeah you have to use the clutch, but on the other hand you can relax your legs when stopped and don't have to stomp the brake to keep the car from driving forward on its own.
