>>
>>25957395
Your degrees are already worthless (well, not yours since I happen to know you're a blue collar wageslave).

There's not a job you can get that doesn't either require serious experience or nepotism. And with that we're still told that the USA has a shortage of skilled labor. That's why companies are importing programmers from India and Russia to work high skill jobs. At the same time, jobs like yours are being given to Latinos who will gladly work for less than a living wage to escape the humanitarian crisis conditions of their home countries.

When it comes down to it, unchecked capitalism is completely built on suffering and exploitation, and the people you want to vote for want to bring you closer to that.

Daily reminder that socialism doesn't work with a non-monoethnic society of 300 million+ people.
Socialism requires people contribute properly, and to give up what is asked of you. This goes against human nature, we will never be equal and egalitarianism is a pipe dream. We all seek to have more than someone else, it's what drives us as humans. Socialism/communism goes against human nature and therefore will never work. National healthcare will ruin the competition between healthcare providers and will only provide substandard healthcare at most. Social security is a failing system and won't last much longer. Government welfare is a failing system and won't last much longer. Socialism does not work, it will fail.

>Le /pol/ meme that Sanders doesn't understand economics
No, YOU don't understand economics. Going to college is a positive externality. What that means, because I bet most of you never took an economics class in your life and only believe what Fox news tells you, is " a benefit that is enjoyed by a third-party as a result of an economic transaction." So when you go to college, that is an economic transaction, and the third-party benefit is the country as a whole. The country benefits when you go to college. So the more people who go to college - the more the country benefits. Other countries understand this, they know that they need people going to college for the good of the whole country, and they have subsidized college so that education is cheap and or free. Not in America though. In America, the purchasing power of minimum wage has gone down 25% since 1978 so your dollar goes less far than it used to. In addition, college costs literally 10x as much ans has increased in cost way higher than the rate of inflation. Fun fact: college textbook prices have increased even higher than that.

People complain about OH NO THE RICH HAVE TO PAY MORE TAXES UNDER SANDERS HOW AWFUL - you people are so young that you do not realize how ABSURDLY low taxes are compared to what they were in the pre-nixon era. Before nixon, the top tax tiers could go up to 50%, 60%, 70%, even fucking 90% going back to the 50s. IRONICALLY, this is the "good old days" of America. Yes, the good old days of america, as conservatives say, were actually far more socialist than we are today. Google the tax brackets over the decade if you don't believe me.

What has happened is that rich people own the government now, they literally own congressmen and women to vote in ways that benefit them and propose bills that benefit them. Most recently, several republicans have proposed a bill that would allow lower speed internet to be called broadband. they're obviously in the pockets of big internet.

And it's not just big internet. Big oil owns the republican party. Some of these republican congressmen are not as stupid as you may think, they may very well believe in climate change but big oil pays them to pretend that it isn't happening, just as big tobacco did to pretend cigarettes dont cause cancer. the influence of money in politics has made a mockery of democracy. in america, it's not a democracy. it really isn't. big money, whether its big oil, big internet, or big pharma etc - they're the ones that run this country. they make us turn on eachother - they make us think that all our taxes are going to support black welfare queens with 15 kids when that's a fucking SMALL percentage of what our taxes are going towards. They make us fight eachother instead of them. And you guys all fall for it.
>is magic and they can get free things because it's magic, I don't have to explain shit.

Bernies policies would SAVE money in the long run. Why the fuck do you think we pay the most money in the world for healthcare? Literally, how do you think this is true? Post-secondary is specialized education. Nobody comes out of high school with a marketable and independent skill.

Besides, the economic recession spurred a gigantic boom in higher education on loans and personal savings and really if you don't already think your degree is worthless, you have nothing to fear.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard all day. Wealth inequality is inherently bad.

To put those numbers into context, $14,875 in 1988 is $29,802 today. So if you made less than that, you were taxed 15%. If you made higher than that, you were taxed at 28%.

So if you made the equivalent of 30,000$ in todays dollars back then, you'd be taxed at 28%, you'd be bringing home ~21,600$.

If you made 10,000,000$ a year, you'd be bringing home 7,200,000$

In what universe is that fair? That 28% tax rate is going to take a considerable chunk out of the regular worker and just takes out pocket change for the millionaire.

Of course, this is regan era economics, so the wealth will just "trickle down"

laughable. The poor have only gotten poorer in America.

In what universe is it fair to take out more of a percentage from the higher earner? A percentage based tax ALREADY does that.

The rest of your post isn't worth responding to.
>>
>>25959138

Let me put it to you in a way even you can understand.

Let's say the US has a shortage of engineers, which is true. Let's say there's 100,000 engineers but 300,000 open jobs for engineers, so a shortage of workers but a surplus of jobs.

Now let's half of all Americans now get free College which would be 150,000,000 Americans. And maybe 1% of those 150 Mil want to be an engineer and get a degree, that would be 1.5 Million new engineers competing for about 300,000 available jobs, what do you think would happen to the other 1.2 Million new engineers in the US and what would their degree be worth here?

>it means new wealth is being created and being invested back into the capital
no actually the opposite
the wealth is being horded and not spent at all
do you think 1% of the population buys more stuff than 99% of the population?
it would be better for the economy if the wealth was distributed more since then more people would buy goods and services.
>>
>>25959273
>In what universe is it fair to take out more of a percentage from the higher earner? A percentage based tax ALREADY does that.
We use a progressive tax system for a reason. Taxes hurt the poor more than they hurt the rich. To a poor person that percentage of their income, after they pay for their rent, food, bills, etc. is a very large amount. A rich person can afford to spare more of their income. The only countries that don't use progressive tax codes are underdeveloped shithole third world countries. In addition, we need wealth to be redistributed. Otherwise the poor will stay poor forever and the rich will stay rich forever. We need some money to be redistributed, or else the rich will be our fucking feudal lords.

Progressive tax codes are good. Even the most conservative of economists admit this.

and i know that's just those dudes, but there's no denying that the elite are largely fucking with out politics, climate, etc, basically murdering and fucking everything with lobbyists because apparently you can't afford enough with just 2 billion, you need 5 at least

i literally don't care if any of these people get a heavy tax, no one needs 5+ billion dollars and it's proven by the fact that that money often just sits there or gets invested in more shit that just hurts us. am i really supposed to not want to see walton money go to things that actually help people rather than funding their donations to some anti-gay organization that's 1. retarded and 2. literally not gonna work.

notice how the politicians that yell "FREE STUFF" the loudest are also the ones getting lobbyist money to say so in the first place. it's ridiculous that i can go bankrupt over an injury but the walton family is being defended because they "deserve" that money.

nearly 40% of Americans already have college educations, you cuck

add to that that a surplus of engineers could never possible be a bad thing since they literally invent industrial processes and create the entire framework for industry

if there are suddenly 1.5 million new people with some sort of engineering education and they're all competing for the same few jobs (which is already the case if you're taking globalization into account, and I don't think you did), some of them aren't going to make the cut and they'll have to do something else. But what's wrong with that? Why would you be in favor of stiff competition and a more competent working labor pool as opposed to some retarded model of extreme scarcity? Why do you even think that every American would seek a college education if given the opportunity, and how do you think something like 1% of the entire population would pursue the same engineering degrees? You're so disconnected that you think everybody has the same poo in loo tier affinity for high status aspie jobs.

Past all of this garbage, Sanders is proposing a living minimum wage, so it doesn't really fucking matter if there's any surplus of skilled labor. That could literally only be a good thing. Anybody who doesn't find a place here has an edge over global competition.

>too lazy to get involved in edgy /pol/ arguing but i never get the opposition against a heavy tax on the super elite

They already pay 50% of their earned income and the top 10% of all Americans are already responsible for 78% of all taxed income, meaning those top 10% of earners in America pay more in taxes than the other 90% combined. All dem programs liberals and niggers love so much are paid for by the rich.

France tried to tax anyone who made over 1 Million a year 90% of their income. The rich just said "Fuck it Pierre, I'm out of here" and threatened to flee. The poor and middle class can't afford to pay for all dem programs so France cancelled the proposed bill.

right, there are people on this planet right now with the personal wealth to launch objects into outer space, but there are still millions of people who can barely afford enough food

It's ironic to me that conservatives, whose favorite phrase for skipping out on teaching their children anything is "life isn't fair", argue that if you see a problem in one dynasty, or even one man, amassing more wealth than he could ever possibly blow out of his ass on superfluous consumer goods every single day, that you're not being just and fair.

UNFAIR is when one baby is born with his entire luxurious life planned and paid for, while another baby is born with nothing but problems to sort out.
take it from this Debs quote:

>Competition was natural enough at one time, but do you think you are competing today? Many of you think you are. Against whom? Against Rockefeller? About as I would if I had a wheelbarrow and competed with the Santa Fe from here to Kansas City.

>notice how the politicians that yell "FREE STUFF" the loudest are also the ones getting lobbyist money to say so in the first place.
And notice how since WalMart doesn't pay their workers enough money, their workers go on FoodStamps, and often those Food Stamp dollars go right back to the WalMarts they work at so they can pay for food.

So you, the American taxpayer, are paying money to WalMart workers so that they can get foodstamps because WalMart doesn't pay them enough, and then WalMart gets the foodstamp money on top of that.

So if you are a taxpayer of this country you are subsidizing WalMart. They don't pay their workers enough, so you are the only who must pay for their food - so they can spend it at WalMart. And WalMart can't raise their employees salaries, oh no no, then they'd make no money! Poor WalMart.

Notice how corporate welfare is okay but if you're ever on welfare then you are the scum of the earth.

Welcome to America

you know that most of the actual elite like the 1% don't pay that many taxes?
do you know how many tax haven there are?
taxes do fall on the rich but the global elite that are above the rich avoid them all together

>They already pay 50% of their earned income
The top tax rate is 39.6% and we know that those rich enough to be in that tax bracket have lawyers who look into loopholes and tax breaks for them so they are never even paying that 39.6% rate

In 2011, Warren Buffet said that he paid only 17.4 percent of his taxable income in federal income taxes

>top 10% of all Americans are already responsible for 78% of all taxed income
The top 10% of Americans probably make 78% of the fucking income that isn't saying anything

You forget about State taxes, 39% is just federal taxes. Besides, what do you believe they should be taxed, 60%, 90%, 100%? Even if you took their offshore money and taxed the top 10% of earners in the US, that still wouldn't be able to pay for Universal Healthcare alone in the US.

Instead of using Marxist Critical Theory, how about you show some real, sensible solutions.
