Anyone else just not understand life at all? Specifically normie life and the way things are done. You finish school, find a partner, settle down and hope to work and watch tv. Normies go about this like clockwork and obsess over the next tickbox, be it a promotion or a new couch.
I just can't fathom how anyone does this. Don't they ever stop for reflection, aren't they scared, or confused?
It doesn't make sense to me.. how people can do it. Is it just that i'm weird, or is everyone else an automaton?
>Don't they ever stop for reflection, aren't they scared, or confused?
Yeah, I kind of think about this too. It's like normies can just run on instinct and never think about things and it all works out. When I try to do things on instinct it blows the fuck up in my face.
>Don't they ever stop for reflection
Being neet for years on end because you have no markettable skills due to spending your days trying to numb the tedium of your existence by escaping into fantasy worlds provided by anime and vidya games... that isn't "stopping for reflection".
>I just can't fathom how anyone does this. Don't they ever stop for reflection, aren't they scared, or confused?
I've known a few regular normies, a few failed ones, and have made some half assed, failed attempts to be normie myself, so I guess I can try to answer.
In my family I have great pressure to go into that life style you described. When you're in it or trying to be in it, you're encouraged and acknowledged by other people doing the same. When you get scared or confused, you can at least say "well, at least everyone else is doing it" or "but this is what my parents want/would make them happy" and you go on, especially if you're too lazy or cowardly to push the questions further.
Going out and doing something that differs from this robotic lifestyle takes a lot more guts. The moment you do something different people start shoving all sorts of crap and opinions your way.
You're not weird for wondering about this, and it's never too late to go for the life you you want, regardless of what other people say.
There's more choices than just normie robot and NEET. You're presenting a false dichotomy.
You can be a landlord and sit on your ass and make money. You can run a porno site and make money from the advertising. You can run your own business.
You can have a nice life with a regular corporate job with no wife and kids, if you just don't like them.
Straying away from the cookie cutter path does not automatically make you a loser.
it is though. granted we were forced into being alone and contemplating things.. that or we had a predilection for it. but i swear most normies don't stop for even a year, they constantly stay busy and don't linger on big questions or questions at all.. like this >>25940907
actually it is. NEETs, despite being distracted by escapist entertainment have many boring hours of the day. Vidya and anime isn't fun 7+ hours every day for months/years. People work, socialize and party to escape boredom (even though work is boring it's still a distraction from reflection), so he's right.
>stop for even a year
>linger on big questions
What ""BIG QUESTIONS"" have you pondered anon? Besides what kind of sauce to have with your tendies, or the wording for today's wagecuck thread?
I have taken more than my fair share of years off but I won't deny that they've been a complete waste of time.
>People around me usually fucked up and trying to push their insecurities and frustrations upon me
>move away from them to a new city
>have to work to pay rent and food
>only enjoy programming and don't like to go out for shit
>can't get a job programming cause I can't focus on a single thing and make a project through to the end
>everything else is meaningless
life is devoid of meaning, and boring.
you say they're a waste - but compared to societies current values. which seem to be whatever is either making/spending money (>>25940806)
so you're just programmed by current norms
> People around me usually fucked up and trying to push their insecurities and frustrations upon me
this. i used to do this as well until i got depressed, saw nihilism and stopped caring. people love saying "should", you should do this, you should do that. no you should just shut the fuck up because your opinion doesn't matter and neither does mine
> can't get a job programming cause I can't focus on a single thing and make a project through to the end
you might enjoy making furniture. but when you get a job, you're specialized in making pegs for that table, so now you fashion the same peg day in day out, like a robot, and your soul/mind dies. creative thinking is stamped out in school where people are turned into obedient slaves clamoring for the letter A instead of the letter F, this continues into the workplace
I myself can't understand one thing: how normies change places so easily. I mean:
>live in Europe
>move to Australia to get a better-paid job
At first place, how the fuck you find a job there and a place to live?
It's not like NEET life is any better though. Sat around bored and going insane.
I put with wageslavery because it gives me something to do. I was neet for 3 years and I could feel my mind deteriorating.
Life is just shit in general.
The meaning of life is different for all people. Normie's find happiness in the media and working to have a family, we enjoy shit posting and complain about Normie's doing Normie stuff.
I'm objectively better than normies. I do what I want, get what I want, and deliberately go out of my way to laugh/ point out how pathetic regular people are.
It's hilarious when they get all defensive about their lifestyle. Like they're content with ticking boxes/ jumping through hoops. Not only do they get scared when I call them out, they deliberately go on the offensive and try going for "Well I'll at least have a happy family life" or "Security" or "Friends"
> family life
The cancer of this earth. Sure, it's nice when there's people to unconditionally love, but more often than not they turn into needy strangers the moment your life starts taking off. They will complain about you, tell you how unfair you are, give you the whole rhetoric. They're fucking useless to me.
Yeah, let's hope you NEVER have to have any bit of risk and responsibility in the same room. Hell, let's remove responsibility- follow this dotted line for all your life and you'll be fine! No one will ever hurt you, or your feelings!
People who buy up each others' bullshit just to have an audience around when you want to get on your pulpit. Basically circlejerking 101- and the moment they see you doing better than them, suddenly you're at fault.
Honestly, 90% of people simply aren't living. I would say Robots are closer to the truth than most normies, but lack any sort of positive feedback loop to take advantage of that truth.
Gotta practice trusting your gut anon. It will fail you less often if you follow it without hesitation. The short comings in trusting it will ultimately place toy in your niche anyways.
I'm running a growing business that's seeing a lot of traction lately.
After I got fed up seeing people complain/ criticize others all my life, I just fucking cut people out and just went for the typical life advice meme shit of not caring and just doing what I want/ taking opportunities I can find.
People don't hate videogame playing autists (unless they're NEET)- for regular people they are hilarious clowns to laugh and point at. "Ha, glad I'm not THAT much of a failure! My life is so great in comparison!"
That is why all these shitty TV shows about dumb fucking zoo animal people are taking off these days- everyone that falls into the category of mediocre just has to have someone worse than them to justify their own existence.
> It's hilarious when they get all defensive about their lifestyle
but you just wrote a whole post trying to defend yours, to an anonymous audience
> Robots are closer to the truth than most normies
i think robots have a great advantage in that they've broken a lot of the mind-control of modern society. the problem comes with how to replace that. i feel most robots are in a kind of limbo between throwing off the normie life that they (rightfully) see as bullshit, but lack the strength to create a new one in its place (probably takes a lot of self belief)
Hoe can you possibly claim to know these things when you never interact with these people, much less live like them? Get off your high horse, 'normies' are just regular people and have plenty of their own doubts, fears, and dreams.
>hurr they dont fulfill their dreams just the next checkbox!!
You don't fill any checkboxes by wallowing in self pity.
>hurr arent they scared??
Of course they are but they keep it private and don't feel the need to show everyone how much of a victim they are.
You're not a special snowflake uniquely capable of independent thought.
>but you just wrote a whole post trying to defend yours, to an anonymous audience
I just relate to some of you, but the constant neediness/ defeatist attitude when there's a CLEAR opportunity to get ahead pisses me off to no end. But occasionally I'm reminded of the ACTUAL robots who aren't just petty children crying over "tfw no gf" and ACTUALLY has no chance in this world. It's not motivating, it's not depressing- I just like to see it so that I'm reminded that this world is just fucking chaos, but despite all that regular people are just apathetic. Unlike these guys who literally have no chance- I strangely admire their existence.
>i think robots have a great advantage in that they've broken a lot of the mind-control of modern society. the problem comes with how to replace that.
Another reason why I stick around.
Honestly, I can't understand how you'd come to 4chan and not have that sense of "IMPENDING SHITSTORM" vibe. Like- you're more in tune with the harsh reality. I just wish you guys would take the reigns. You have the power to spite normies, but because of some brain chemicals/ bad habits you refuse to take any action.
Do something just to fuck with normies. They get REEEEEEEally angry when they see you succeeding. Hell, if I knew they'd be this mad, I would've done this shit/ have this mindset I have now waaaaay sooner.
Boring hours are by very definition not reflection, and you should only reflect when you have something worth reflecting on, fantasizing about your waifu and thinking 'le deep thoughts about life xD' in the shower isn't reflection.
>Is it just that i'm weird, or is everyone else an automaton?
nope. youre just having babby's first existential crisis. everyone has it and gets over it. or kills themselves, do whatever you want
Never has this image been more appropriate to a thread.
You must have really great friends, because I wish I could say that a lot of people I know have even done a minute of introspection.
Like, I have to explain to them that they shouldn't worry over certain stupid shit ("I just don't know how people know what to do all the time" for example is a common one I hear)
Normies do all of those things because they have to.
Most of us, myself included, have passive parents that allow us to be neets. I'm 27 living with my mom. If my mom kicked me out I could choose between being homeless or being a normie. When you HAVE to pay the bills or you'll lose your house, work is all you can do. And when you're trapped by all sorts of bills that must be paid on time and screaming kids or child support, you can't blow your money on a vacation or a new gaming PC that you wouldn't have time to play. You look forward to spending what little leftovers you have on the one or two nice things that are available to you.
Although it does disgust me how normies seem so complacent in this. At the store where I work part time they they play a stupid jingle over the speakers every ten minutes that drives me nuts. One of my coworkers made a comment about how it was a good marketing strategy.
Really? Why the fuck do you care? They buy into capitalism so readily, it makes me mad.
>inb4 le ironic wake up sheeple meme
When you are on the internet you are surrounded by introspective people for one.
And yet as far as sheep are concerned even an immaculate member of the flock is still a member of the flock.
In any case while this image has a special snowflake feel it isn't fair to say that its crap. Most people are dullards from the perspective of the author and people like him, not to say thats good or bad.
i think you invalidated your point later into that post. they put themselves in those shitty situations through debt and kids..
probably b8, but this image is bullshit. most people (80%?) are easily controlled and literally cannot think for themselves. its why democracy works.. because the majority opinion is swayed by the media, whilst the remaining 20% complain about how shit things are but cant change it
It's literally the most normie thing to think
how can you not be aware that no one else knows what they're doing and that everyone is experiencing today the first time as well
It's fucking mind boggling how many people don't simply acknowledge that everyone else is just as fucking clueless and scared as they are
Robots are not "introspective". If anyone here were intelligent they wouldn't be in their situation to begin with. Op could ha given it ten minutes of thought and already figured >>25942831 this out
>tfw not social in the slightest
But really social animals are bound to trudge through a world that otherwise spares you of its dreariness through early death.
Myth of progress from a certain perspective imo.
I'm tired af, when can I travel to voidland
All normies have bills, you cannot live without owing something, even if it's just apartment rent and car insurance. You'll be homeless if you don't pay monthly.
Why don't you go ask your mummy why she works?
>they really think that they're part of some tiny minority of people capable of introspection
Is this like that "I'm really smart but unmotivated" thing? Is this how you reconcile your failure of a life with the success of "normal" people, by pretending that you achieve some level of introspection they're incapable of?
I agree with you, I spend more time on smaller communities so I am experiencing confirmation bias. Although there are still more introspective people on 4chan in general imo, if only slightly.
OP is probably speaking rhetorically, he could have given that answer and yet the feelings of pointlessness of it all would remain. Its just a way to share feels
>everyone is experiencing today the first time as well
Damn, that gave me a nice mental image. Standing on a cliff of time.
I am doing it. I own multiple real estate properties in a US city, all of them are paid off and produce good rental income.
I'll be retiring from my full time job in about a year and a half. I'm 31 right one.
Hope you enjoy your life with your full time work and your "marketable skills". I'll damn well enjoy my life.
I share the view that deep is an annoying buzzword thrown around by normies at bonfires. But matters of time are worthy of the word I think. Although I just prefer to call it spooky
>If anyone here were intelligent they wouldn't be in their situation to begin with.
Lots of intelligent people have bad luck or make poor decisions due to factors they didn't anticipate.
The problems I have in my life ultimately come down to luck. A lot of people screwed me over by cheating me out of money, injuring me in various ways (through negligence or even outright malice), etc.
I'm fairly intelligent but still have a pretty crappy life.
A list of protips for robots
Lazy != freedom
No plans != freethinker
Unable to find a job != avoiding slavery
Confused by how to talk to people != oppressed
Afraid to leave the house != profound thinker
Unable to find a girlfriend != choosing anything
Sitting at home, eating food provided by your parents as if you were still a child with no friends, no job, no skills, and no hope !=superior to anyone
I made this gay chart a while ago
I would say being successful is far from being normie. You might end up being Chad-like, but normie implies there's some kind of like "need to be accepted"
People both simultaneously like you more and hate you more when you start "beeing urself". Everyone has their own unique "bee" state, but it's more of an amalgamation of your experiences/ mode of thinking being redirected out into the world. People surprisingly listen.
You just have to have the means to be a person worth listening to. Either through kindness, riches, attractiveness, or power.
>Anyone else just not understand life at all? Specifically robot life and the way things are done. You don't do anything and shitpost on an anonymous chinese cartoon board. Robots go about this like clockwork and obsess over the next tickbox, be it a girlfriend or a new meme.
>I just can't fathom how anyone does this. Don't they ever stop for reflection, aren't they scared, or confused? It doesn't make sense to me.. how people can do it. Is it just that i'm weird, or is everyone else an automaton?
No. Most people don't question things. They have goals, but they may not be the same as your goals. A lot of people are unhappy in their careers and lives in general, but don't desire to change. Others have hobbies, but they may not be the same hobbies you enjoy. But work isn't the problem, working mindlessly is. You're not superior for being a neet or anything. Live life, follow your passions, pursue your dreams, gain wisdom, spread love and kindness to those you meet, never judge strangers, accept people and their flaws, accept yourself and your own flaws, Blow up your TV, throw away your paper, go to the country, build you a home, plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches, try to find Jesus on your own.
>NEET same tier as artists and free willed
>Don't they ever stop for reflection, aren't they scared, or confused?
they probably do. everyone probably does.
But its not like you can figure anything out. no matter how smart or philosophical you are, in the end you just go back to work or school, your hobbies and your friends the next day.
> Live life, follow your passions, pursue your dreams, gain wisdom, spread love and kindness to those you meet, never judge strangers, accept people and their flaws, accept yourself and your own flaws, Blow up your TV, throw away your paper, go to the country, build you a home, plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches, try to find Jesus on your own.
why would i bother doing any of that?
> So stop acting like you're so fucking superior in faculties
we are though. any introspective intelligent person will quickly come to the conclusion that life is not worth living, but that suicide is also pointless. so you're stuck
Why wouldn't you? whether you do or don't isn't important. But by not doing it, you're making a conscious choice, which in turn is no different than actually doing it.
So really, in truth, it doesn't matter what you do, but you have to do something, and by doing something you fall into the greater whole of existence. So why not find a purpose for yourself seeing as how avoiding to find a purpose is still a purpose, why not find a greater purpose.
All in all, it is up to you anon which path you go down, and I will wish you peace in all your travels.
A truly intelligent person wouldn't brag about their intelligence, they would realize the meaninglessness of life, accept the ennui that comes with it, and try to achieve a greater good.
>But its not like you can figure anything out
>actually counting this as introspection
Yo, it goes down like this over the course of a life:
> experiment with introspection, start becoming scared
> try it a few more times, you feel that presence of the void
> stop trying
> stop trying
> give in when you're at an all time low
> self pity/ worthlessness <-- phase failed normies stay at
> more jaded, mixed in with edgy
> literally not giving a shit anymore
> judging yourself
> lots of judging
> more kill yourself feels
> on and off phases of jadedness, edginess, and self pity/ judgement
> this goes on until you give up your ego
> you become not scared
> you have control over emotions
> ALL emotions, all your reactions
> Edginess + trolling <-- phase most people SHOULD be on 4chan
> self judgement, but some that actually moves you forward
> you find yourself battling your ego every now and again, and knocking down your world view several times just to make sure all you've got is truth
>don't understand how people can just sit there and just listen to music
>every time I mention it I get called an autist
I don't even understand why people get so defensive about this. You can say you don't understand books, and people are completely fine with that.
> whether you do or don't isn't important
> But by not doing it, you're making a conscious choice
> you have to do something
> by doing something you fall into the greater whole of existence
> find a purpose for yourself seeing as how avoiding to find a purpose is still a purpose
just.. what.. what the fuck. i cant even respond to the insane tumblr quotes and contradictions here, nor do i need to because you just outed yourself as a complete idiot
how many rhetorical questions do you want to pack into a post btw, i bet you thought that was persuasive and well written..
so at this point intelligence means whatever you want it to mean
the robot journey is basically turning from wojack into pepe? (someone post that nihilism cinema image)
sometimes this show gets too real
It's an ever-changing state between wojack and pepe, with a small taste of gondola from the past, and a feeling that he'll show up again in the future
In the meantime though, it's fun to "bee"
>Gondolas are relaxed, harmless creatures that observe their environment. They rarely interfere anything, but just keep observing. They rarely talk, just look around and smile. This makes them very different from other creatures such as spurdo, that feel, pepe, yoba, etc.
>Gondola is the silent walker. Having no hands he embodies the Taoist
principle of wu-wei (non-action) while his smiling facial expression
shows his utter and complete acceptance of the world as it is.
He's basically the every growing acceptance of the void. That whole aspect of travelling through time, not knowing what is ahead. It's not so much negativity or self pity, or wallowing in pain.
Transcendent shitposting is kind of like entertaining the "nothingness" of this universe. It's like "despite everything being pointless, I'm going to do something more deliberately pointless to spite that whole idea"
But it's more pepe and not quite gondola. Gondola is scary but calming.
Pride and ego is far behind me. I'm contempt.
I've got this itch/ curiosity however.
I'm naturally drawn to "the void" in any of its characteristics. Sort of the endless nature of it- fractals, spacetime, psychopathic behaviour- I find myself wanting to indulge in it as an act of defiance toward it. Leaving all I know behind to be THE someone who finds what is beyond it.
Maybe it's my desire to naively find some purpose for everything?
Like if I label it or grasp just how much I can't understand it, I'll finally be able to move on from it.
But the void is kinda just impartial. It's attractive to me. I feel like I want the void to acknowledge me or my "brave and noble" defiance I give it. Or even acknowledge my presence as a silent observer. Nothing.
But if it was any different, it would lose at its core what makes it so attractive.
>lack the strength to create a (new) life
I don't think it's strength really. It's finding a niche, or a part of society that can be exploited for capital gain, etc. There's not much emotion or fear involved, its more about thinking clearly until you find a path.
>I don't think it's strength really. It's finding a niche, or a part of society that can be exploited for capital gain, etc. There's not much emotion or fear involved, its more about thinking clearly until you find a path.
God tier advice that is so in touch with reality it's not even funny
None of those are contradictions. To erase yourself from the equation is to commit an action. What I'm saying is you can't escape your existence. You originally said "Why would I want to do that" simply, you have no choice. The universe is like a mechanism, and no matter what you do, like it or not, you're perpetuating the mechanical aspect of existence. You're heading in a certain direction. And whichever direction you or any other person travels on, we should wish them well on their journey.
Be as upset as you'd like, even disagree, you're free to do that. You are not obliged to do anything. But accept the beauty of being a part of the greater whole, step back and open your eyes and take in the bigger picture.
There is a lot to be learned from this picture >>25945106. Look at it a while.
>Don't they ever stop for reflection, aren't they scared, or confused?
>It doesn't make sense to me.. how people can do it. Is it just that i'm weird, or is everyone else an automaton?
Now get this.. probably half of the people you see walking around have thought the exact same shit. Yes, people are scared and confused. But nobody can escape. In the words of Emil Cioran, "Try to be free. You will die of hunger."
I understand most of it except the finding a partner part
how the fuck does that happen
like you just meet a woman who you get along with and then you just suddenly decide "hey let's have sex and live together and have children and get married"
that just seems absurd to me
I've never had a human connection go further than just casual friendship
can't even imagine having a deep conversation with someone, particularly a female
I think it's something to do with familiarity. If, for instance, you're in a conversation with someone and they say something that is almost exactly the same as one of those weird shower or bed thoughts you had recently. If their words are similar to your inner monologue, you are lulled into a sense of security. People feel safe in situations they are accustomed to or familiar with, that's all.
>Leaving all I know behind to be THE someone who finds what is beyond it.
Who the fuck are you?
I feel ya man
> tfw the seas will be sompletely dead in my lifetime
> tfw most animals as well
> tfw global warming, overpopulation, the universe expanding, Trump etc etc
I just cant block out shit that other people completely ignore, i dont get it.
If you're actually the guy I replied to, it's good enough for me.
I only wish I could articulate my thoughts when the situation demands it.
My shit just goes fucking blank when people touch upon ideas I have to pry out of others with steel tools.
