He was dealing with a bout of depression by making pot brownies and he turned around when the cops entered with a knife in his hand he'd been using to cut the brownies. The cops opened fire, shooting 11 times, hitting him 9 times and shattering his spine. (They missed once and one cop shot his partner by accident in their panic-firing.)

The cops then told him that if he tried to sue them they'd charge him with attacking police with a knife and he'd spend his remaining years in a prison as well as a hospital bed.

Got my phone backwater that day. But the end result over two years later was my step-dad losing his driving license despite smoking rarely and got caught with nothing almost. My mom and he just had to pay a small fine. As for the child protective services they backed off she they realized we were good.
