Only thing I ever bought from that damn scholastic catalog
Holy shit! I had one of those as a kid. I lost it shortly after buying it, though. The wind literally blew it out of my hands, across the field, and gone, before I could get to it.
Devine intervention, maybe?

I remember buying some book solely for the pendant necklace that came with it. I wore it every day and made sure everyone could see it because I thought it looked cool and edgy.

>scholastic catalog afternoons
I wouldn't say it was a highlight, but it was a pleasant enough diversion for me to remember

I remember buying a book only because it came with a little stuffed dog that looks like the main character in the book. I didn't even read the book and don't remember what it was even called, but I remember I carried the little stuffed dog everywhere with me and pretended to feed it every lunch time.

>used to read these all the time
>buy books I never read
>fun until mom died
>dad said "you don't read books anon"
>no point in reading them anymore
>>25829744
I remember buying a book just to get the plastic flip phone that came with it. Fuck if I remember what the book was about but I wanted the plastic phone because it was as close as I was going to get to an actual phone

>used to draw dragons in school.
>a lot of times kids would rip up my drawings.
>dontgiveafuck.exe, just bust out more epic drag pics for my collection.
>even wore a dragon pendant necklace.
>mfw i still have a few pictures and that necklace.

I actually remember getting gud enough to finally draw this anime school-girl without massively fucking up and I placed the drawing on the corner of my desk with my hands folded hoping someone would notice and comment on it. I sadly do not have that drawing (at least I don't think I do. I might.)

one of the Captain Underpants books came with a "hyponotism" ring. Supposedly you'd wear it on your finger, and then when you pointed it at someone, he would do what you commanded of him. It had the little black swirly symbol like pic related as a "stone."
The thing is, my fellow classmates decided to have some fun by playing along, so for at least a full week I thought it was actually working when they ACTUALLY decided to go along with my orders.
Good times.

I was expecting this to go bad really fast. Good thing you didn't sperg out with it and do something you'd later regret.
>>25829724
You are still here with us, so probably no.
>>25829596
OH MOTHER OF GOD I LITERALLY HAD THAT ACTUAL EXACT BOOK
I REMEMBER THAT FACE, I REMEMBER THAT AWFUL FUCKING FACE
>>25831570
I don't remember what I tried to do with it and supposedly neither does anyone else, since I was never reminded of it until right now, with this thread.
I have plenty of regrettable memories from school and I'm glad none of them are related to a superhero who wears nothing but tighty whities.
>>25831526
did anyone comment on it?
I used to draw me and my friends as our runescape characters with the fancy weapons and armor we were way too noobish to get.
>>25831617
One random kid looked at it and said "You drew that? Cool." and it made the 10 minutes of patient waiting worth it.
>>25831059
Thats honestly a nice story. I would think a person that fed a toy dog in school was cool. I would have been your robot friend.

I bought a book about roman history that came free with this game(pic related). Hands down one of the best games I've ever played. played it so much that my dad took it away from me. I later caught him playing it. its been almost a decade since he took it away he still fucking plays it every day. I told you it was a good game dad

I was a... troubled kid.

My two sources of shame in elementary.
>>25832277
That's the pic in the book, but it basically looked like that except B&W and with a ton of faded erased lines where I redrew it a bunch of times.

I bought that at 4 grade and thought it was the worst how to book I ever read. The artist was shit tier and never used it again. I ended up using shonen jump as a guide.
At 19 I got in connections with a VP of DC Comics for an art/writing/ business position back in 2012. I came up with a business plan to take over Marvels market share. This was right around the time the new 52 launched and the avengers came out. The nigga wanted me to email him the business plan which consisted of movie ideas, comic lines and everything. I ended up getting stoned and told told him off. Deep down I had a feeling he would've taken the ideas and duped me for nothing. Nigga should have had some faith for 15 minutes of his time.

>mfw I found this 12 year old note
My bad Jorge. I'll get it to you when it's done.
>scholastic books
SHIEEEEEET SON
Every book fair I'd buy these and always asked when the new entries came out. Someone mocked me for "reading girl books" but I used to think they were okay.
That and Goosebumps books.

>Mfw enjoyed reading as a kid
>wanted to read the Nancy Drew series my elementary school library had
>thought people would make fun of me for reading "girl books"
>asked my sister to sign it out for me
>she declined
>I begged
>still didn't
>always considered myself a pussy for wanting to read "girl books"
>Mfw I lost interest in reading during my teenage years
>Mfw haven't read a book in the past 6 years

Read a book doofus
>>25832216
>tfw I was that kid who could draw
>tfw drew girls, all day err day
>other boys would ask me to draw them hentai
>I'd do it, especially in yearbooks
Wish I had done it way more, but I was afraid of getting caught and what my parents would think. I kept doing it anyway, though.
