My mom got a windfall $5k when I was 22. She said she'd pay for my braces if I wanted them.

Would have made a lot more sense back when I was 14... all the offer did was make me even more self conscious. Like, somehow she knew how much I hate my teeth, and she was trying to spare me further pain... but at the cost of being an adult with braces.

Acne and fucked up teeth... both easily remedied, but we couldn't afford either. Fucked me up bad.
