Fairy Tail was alright, the first 100 or so episodes were the best although the grand magic games arc is my favourite

Maybe I enjoyed it because at the time I hadn't seen much anime so I wasn't as aware of all of the tired, overused tropes like "nakama power". After Fairy Tail came back from hiatus in 2014 I realised how downhill it had gone. I realised how repetitive it was and how bland and 2D many of the characters were. I've dropped it now but I might rewatch the original series at some point for dat nostalgia

The amateur movie episode was originally the very first episode of the series when it was broadcast on TV, but now it's in the correct chronological order towards the end of the series. One of the worst shows I've ever seen (or dropped, rather). It's all because of that scene where he sexually assaults Sunakawa. The scene has no trace of humor in it, it's played completely straight. And it's supposed to be a comedy and the protagonist is supposed to be this sympathetic good guy. It's one of the most bizarre, out of place things I've ever seen in anime.

If Sunakawa was female, the Western anime community would have gone nuclear. But because it was male-on-male, nobody said a thing.

I was so disgusted with it I turned it off before it finished and haven't watched any anime since. I still have my little collection of bebop, champloo etc but I just dont think I can stomach all the typical tropes in anime anymore. All the overly dramatic 20-somethings screaming about how angry they are while dashing towards their enemies while blushing about their crushes. Its all just too much for me now.
