Why do peple move out of their parents home? The only advantage I see is you can bring people over to have sex and not be disturbed (which is no concern for me) I don't understand why you would want to move out, if I ever moved to another city/nation in would bring my mom with me to wash my dishes and clothes and stuff.

because not every bodies parents are nice people
>>
lol loser. no pussy loser lol. r u to poor to give your money away to a landlord lol?
>>
I was more or less left no option. Day I got my associate's, she put my dog down, helped me look for a place to live for maybe two hours and then wished me the best of luck because she moved in with her abusive boyfriend.

About 15 months later and here I am.

Arbitrary social norm that only ever happened because wealth in western society's was remarkably equitably distributed in the mid twentieth century. The only reason it's even an issue is because we're caught in the awkward generation that gets to see the economic norm swing back together multigenerational homes - social norms can change a lot slower than economic norms.

That said, the fact that boomers basically ALL moved out on their own with their historically unprecedented income/wealth tells you that most people would prolly find it more pleasant to do so. It's nice to have your own shit and to not feel like your parents know what you're up to 2bh.
>>
>>25789111
>>25789098

It's a stupid "social norm", more like propaganda to destroy family and nation cohesion,. Back in the day people in Europe used to live their whole life in the same house they grew up with their parents and grandparents and live there till they die with their children and grandchildren.
>>
>>25789190

Also Europeans have proper stone or brick houses and no cardboard boxes so their houses would last generations.
>>
>>25789190
There's a different vibe here. You're supposed to stake out on your own, be successful...but in this economy you'll be lucky to land a well-paying stable job.

It doesn't help that not nearly as many families in the US can afford actual homes. It's all apartments and rented housing, to ensure you spend too much of your income for some lazy bastard who won't even help the shit hole you pay to live in.

Plus Europeans have tradition. Here, your average family just dawdles every generation.

well if I'm a failure at everything else, at least I'm gonna be a 100% financial independent failure so nobody will miss me when I kill myself
>>
>>25789073
I don't want to move out, but I will have to in one year when my mom moves to her new house.

IDFK what I'm going to do.
>>
>>25789073
They move out because social norms and expectations told them to. Good goys with their 30 year loans.

I don't give a fuck what people think, living at home is comfortable and is far better than sharing an appartament or paying some crazy money every month in order to live alone. I have no problem living with parents until I'm in my late 20's-30. I will not pay every month to some lazy fuck or to the jews just to meet the social norms.

>moved out of parents 2 years ago
>live in a shitty house in a shitty area
>house is completely unable to retain any fucking heat
>can't afford to put heating on as much as I'd like to
>front door keeps swelling up and becomes extremely hard to open/close, landlord won't replace it, just keeps sanding it down
>door handles keep snapping off, house mate has cut his hand twice when this has happened
>bathroom window doesn't open so it gets damp as fuck and disgusting
>half the house isn't carpeted and is just bare floorboards that have been varnished poorly
>slipped and really fucked up my knees on new years eve while I was back in home town
>had to stay at parents house for a week as I couldn't walk, longest I've stayed since moving out
>realise how much I miss it

I'm moving out of this shit heap in March but there's no place like home.
>>
>>25789773

In Europ the landlord would be literally legally forced by law to replace shiity doors and it wouldnt be allowed to built in low quality items in the first place.

That's what you get for not studying environmental physics you retard

My parents are absolutely insane and it was negatively impacting my life for a long time.

I think if I'd have moved out sooner, I'd have been able to finish school, get a proper job, etc. But instead, I just work for the naval reserves and life hand-to-mouth on it.

That said, most of my friends still live at home, and only don't if their parents live prohibitively far out of town or something. The ones that do live on their own go home frequently and just use their homes in-town as a base to go to work and see friends and do other business.

But this is Canada, I understand America is a third-world shithole with weird rituals to it so you have to move out as soon as you're 17 or something.

>>25789773
call the rental board, dude, they can force the landlord to fix this stuff and as long as you keep paying on time, the landlord can't retaliate (and if he does, you can take him to rental board AGAIN for that)
>>
>>25789073
The only benefit for me would be that I'd be away from my parents and their disgusting cigarette smoke. I haven't slept all night and I've heard and smelled them 5 fucking times throughout the night getting up just to smoke yet another cigarette in the bathroom next to my room. The whole house smells like shitty nicotine except my room. I am going to get lung cancer before any of them because smokers never FUCKING GET CANCER RRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>25789922
You've missed the point of this thread. It's an echo chamber where men can tell each other that living at home into adulthood is not pathetic.
>>
>>25789969
Except cooking is pretty fun and I get to eat whatever the fuck I want to.
>>
>>25789969
That's a bonus.

These are cool but rent is fucking expensive.

There's no place like your own home, though.

ahahahaaAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA I need a job

>>25789988
literally only a concern for americans, everywhere else, you only really move out when you need to

and you don't move out for college, dorms are not even a thing here in Canada. we just have student ghettoes of normal housing with normal landlords

I don't know literally anyone who moved out of home and didn't "have to" either for work reasons, or because of family issues.

When I lived at home, I did all of the chores and kept the house clean, anyways, ma just watched soap operas and movies all day. I also wasn't allowed to do anything but read, as soon as chores were finished, I had to go to my room and read and bedtime was at 7 pm every night, and this continued all the way until I moved out as soon as I turned 18. I may not get laid or anything, but at least I can jack off to internet porn and stuff now. I'm 23 and have only been aware of the internet for five years.

absolutely barbaric

I know better, now. I get mad when I see NEET threads, like "oh just stay at home why don't you just stay at home forever". Some people have to leave. If I hadn't moved out voluntarily, I'd have been kicked out, already had been threatened with being kicked out when I tried to stay up past 7 pm one night when I was 17. Before I got big enough to defend myself, ma would beat me; I went to juvie when I was 15 because I grabbed her hands while she was hitting me and she called the cops and they took her side. Am I supposed to live like that forever? I come here because I'm fucked up and I can talk to other fucked up people, but I get mad when I'm called a normie because I work for a living.
If your parents love you and don't abuse you, you're a normie and you can get the fuck off my board, ree.

i wouldn't say they love me, it's more likely they are used to me
they always ignored me tbqh
on my 16 birthday i was told im an accident
also my father told me he never wanted any kids
thankfully i was able to escape reality thanks to internet
that's why i said >>25790275
