what is the appeal of travelling?
i really don't get it guys. i work for a travel agency and got a free vacation from it. i did skydiving, dolphin swims, a dinner cruise and snorkeling. i was supposed to do more activities but i just stayed by the hotel and got a tan and chainsmoked cigars for the rest of the week. i could have done that at my apartment, the entire trip was pointless IMO but it's something normies pay $1000 to do for "the experience of a lifetime" or something.
can someone please give me one benefit of traveling besides looking deep and interesting to jealous roasties & other normies on social media?
that's not the true spirit of travelling anon
what you just described is like saying going to dubai to do shopping, swimming and sleeping in everyday is travelling. it's just not.
Travelling is when you go to somewhere rich in culture/nature/other shit and see completely new things that you don't really see anywhere else.
new plants and animals? i could go to the zoo or google images.
i am just wondering what is so amazing about seeing another "culture"
i eat some mexican food at a restaurant near my apartment, seems good enough for me
yes, it's entirely different to go to the jungle or some peasant town where you don't know the language.
what the fuck is even the point? i can't imagine how anyone would derive joy from it
What's exciting about staying in the same 25 mile radius your entire life. There's an entire world out there to explore. Yeah you can google it or look at a book but nothing beats the actual beauty of something new first hand. Sure you can look at a picture of the Phantom Ranch, but what it takes to actually get down there and back up is such a huge reward and to be there makes you realize how small you really are
there's nothing "exciting" about it but there's nothing exciting about travelling either. the difference is that all of my stuff is already here so i gain absolutely nothing from travelling
i've been places. the grand Canyon, mt rushmore, carlsbad caverns, the appalachian trail, all sorts of places. so i saw some fucking rocks, big woop. it was annoying to sit in the car for hours or go on a plane or whatever. i just don't understand how i could possibly enjoy travelling somewhere unless it was to thailand to fuck hookers or something. and that's a guess, i never actually fucked a hooker so i wouldnt know
Are you saying that you are perfectly fine with being on the same schedule and doing the same stuff all the time? Because if you are, that's probably what your mindset is like. My other question is this: if you could have the best vacation of your entire life, what would you do and how would you do it? Even if it's something like milking a cow or some shit, tell it.
i don't do the same things. i eat a few different foods, i fap to different porn, i do different things on my pc.
my perfect vacation would include meeting a girl who i fall in love with and be together with forever. however that wouldn't require me to actually go on vacation, i would be just as happy if we met online, or at work, or she moved next door to me. in my experience single girls dont go alone to strange places looking for a boyfriend
i figured this. JUST
> if you could have the best vacation of your entire life, what would you do and how would you do it?
i would wake up every day on the comfiest bed in the world with a bowl of mac n cheese & a dr pepper and do heroin, coke, and viagra and fuck a bunch thai ladyboys
that would make me "feel good". experiencing "culture" doesnt
I don't like traveling, it's just a meme. However, I thoroughly enjoy the activity of skateboarding. Because of that, I enjoy traveling if the purpose of the trip is to skate places that don't exist anywhere else. For example, traveling to San Francisco to skate the historic spots in that city is something that I would enjoy.
For traveling to be enjoyable, you need a reason to do it. For some that could be photography, or maybe they're really into trees and want to see exotic tree species in person. Traveling just for the sake of it is ultimately unfulfilling
Being somewhere other than yr shitty hometown
Getting away from people who know who you are
Seeing things and doing stuff you haven't done before
An excuse to ride in a car and sleep in a tent
Easier to do things that are illegal
but how is it fun? i went skydiving once with my boss & coworkers. i was bored the whole time, but they were happy and smiling. it costed $100 per person and people actually think it's fun and worth paying. but how is it fun? i don't get it, honestly. i just can't see the fun in it
Fuck me, I know this feel
>hit up tinder
>every cunt on there's bio is "OMG I LOVE TRAVELLING"
>meanwhile I studied in Madrid for a year and hated it
>yet I tell everyone it was a great experience
Nothing makes you realise how shallow the concept of another culture is, especially in this day and age, until you live there a year. Literally the only thing I miss about it is tortillas and swordfish being commonplace in the supermarket.
And with other people it's always the same shit. People who've gone to impoverished areas of Thailand, experienced "culture", sat with a sedated tiger and want to do it again. For all its faults, the second Inbetweeners movie got their summary of this attitude spot on. People who say travelling is their life/what they live for make my blood boil. So you live for 3/52 weeks of your calendar year? Go fuck yourself.
>tfw I'll probably do 2-3 cruises during my early 30's, visit most of the destinations I want to see, then draw a line under it
>will probably take breaks in the same location every year like my parents do; a home away from home.
>You will never be an explorer, discovering new parts of the world before anyone else does
>You will never get into all sorts of trouble and have to find ways to get out of it
>You will never get the girl and be your generation's Indiana Jones
This anon gets it. Traveling is the most expensive meme that every normie gets sold on. And I bought into it too.
Once I'm done with this expensive /r9k/ visit I'm never traveling again unless I have a clearly defined motivation.
He said he did skydiving and swam with dolphins retard, hardly something people do everyday.
OP, travelling can be fun you just have to find stuff you find interesting, for one I love camping and you just can't experience different climates by staying in just one place so you have to travel.
Some people like photography and they travel to take pictures, others enjoy architecture or history so they travel to meet new buildings and places.
I do exactly the same as you
>Go to 5* hotel in Turkey
>Spend all week drinking free alcohol, laying on a perfect beach and smoking
>Get tan, perfect weather and breeze
>Read books, watch films on iPad
Was a perfect week, ashame it was so expensive
I went to Las Vegas and ended up drinking heavily by the hotel's pool. I did went to the casinos and shows the first days but it was boring as fuck.
I probably had a better time doing that than the people who were drained of their money mindlessly
