And then she just kept asking about my thesis for like 5 minutes. Like, I was obviously only trying to talk to you to ask you out. Why do women do this? Also why do they spend so little time single? Wtf. It hadn't even been a month and she found a new guy.

Don't be a rebound OP. She'll treat you great for a few weeks before she finds someone she really likes. Girls cannot be single for more than a few weeks at most, they need a guy even if they don't really care about him and will drop you as soon as they find someone else

Your best chances are to get to know her better before asking her out. It doesn't matter much that she's dating someone else right now, that guy's probably just her rebound and won't be around for long.
