My dad constantly complains about this sort of thing because he helps his company hire.
Basically, he says college degrees are shite and that professors teach nothing practical, so he looks for people that have actually gained work experience first.
This knowledge is why I am instead joining military to get work experience and respect.

>college degrees are shite and that professors teach nothing practical
Isn't that the point?
I mean, if you need practical, go to something designed to be practical.
The whole 'college/uni for jobs' thing needs to die. It's academia.
Go to college to become a scientist or a scholar, not something that should be taught at a trade school.
Look for internships if you need experience, even if they don't pay you anything at first

Assuming you are an American:
All the military does is train you to be a (mentally and/or physically fucked up) government bureaucrat who does a lot of pushups (and drugs). If military experience is of such great commercial value why are so many veterans homeless?
apply anyway
