No I don't have a diploma i'm going to school for one. I've been shooting for some pretty low tier jobs such as Pizza Hut waiter.

I've also thought about doing what you said you did, however I can't find a place that is hiring interns or anything of the sort. I'd gladly work for nothing if it meant I got references and shit.

Frankly, the majority of what I've learned has been self-taught, I place little credit in schooling in regard to my knowledge with the exception of perhaps the most basal subjects.
This leads me to my next point, the reforms I believe should be present in education. From my observation, self-learning is MUCH more effective than modern-school learning (with, the caveat that society currently values generalists rather than specialists). So, my recommendation would to build massive stores of knowledge that one could freely access, of course the internet is one such store but alas, it seems like there would be too many distractions, so massive libraries or e-readers with access to all kinds of topics and all manner on knowledge. The inherent passion of learning present in every man shall lead him to whatever he wishes to learn about, take Mandarin Chinese (currently one of my hobbies). Instead of having the subject drilled into his psyche, if he has the passion to learn more about Mandarin, he will have to ability to pursue to subject on his own terms, a good book and his own ingenuity being a far better teacher than any shit-pay, recently-hired teacher (I'm the son of a teacher, so I'm quite familiar with the shit they have to go through). He will have the ability to wake up whenever he desires as to make sure that his mind is ready to absorb the vast stores of knowledge given to us by modernity. Once the student has reached a proficient level, he may choose to take certification exams (mandated by professionals and securely administered) so that he will have some credibility to his knowledge.(2/3)

He won't have to struggle with an intolerant mind or weak conviction, and can instead move on to something else, perhaps returning to Mandarin later when his mind regains it's conviction. If the student wishes to learn from a human, then he will have the ability to attend lectures on that specific subject, likely vastly increased in quality as attendance implies a present interest and understanding in that subject. With these reforms, Man will have the ability to educate himself on his own terms, instead of relying on the mandate of others.
