You are awoken in the early morning before the sun has risen by the sound of shouting, but it is not from nearby. It echoes across the treetops and causes birds to fly up in large numbers. Immediately Kaylessa shoots upwards, and Merriam and Brutus are similarly startled. The voice is like a great horn, bellowing from the west.

"What is THAT?" Merriam asks, clutching the bedroll she shares with you. "Some kind of monster?"

"It sounds like a giant," Kaylessa replies, going for his bow.

Brutus snorts. "I recognize that voice. It is Krom."

Your eyes widen in disbelief as you look over at him. "What? You say he lives?"

Brutus rolls over, scratches his behind and prepares to sleep again. "Those things could not kill him. He has the blood of his god."

You shimmy out of your bedroll and stand up in the cool, damp morning air. A moment later, you hear another cry, coming from the west again.

'What is he doing?' you think to yourself. 'Could he be at the church?'

Down-on-their-luck heroes with a magic swords and brooding pasts like Cairsun; escaped slaves with a penchant for magik like Nissar; disgruntled veterans of the Nuemunster Legions like Corporal ‘Jack’ Marcus; Scarred Wildborn ‘Smiles’ (because fighting is really all a Wildborn knows); aging Skald huscarls like Hirstun of Ligh that should have retired long ago. You even have a mute rotten undead warrior, ‘Mask’, which is one even you haven’t heard before. Nevermind the fekking Dragon.

They’re your men (and women). Mercenaries, that kill for money. Warriors, with the right degree of pride and stubbornness. Soldiers, that fight for the man next to them. You never wanted this position, deciding who dies where. Dark Father knows it’s only a matter of time before you get them all killed.

Recap
Following the fall of the Neumunster city of Sarsburg several weeks ago, your Employer has sent his unholy host spread throughout the entirety of the western and northern reaches of the Neumunster Nation. While the main part of the Company and the undead went west to Oxenfurt Bridge, you were tasked with the seizure of the northern town of Kresden.

Having taken Kresden mostly intact, at the cost of a few comrades to the ravenous Grenn, the rest of the province should follow in short order. You've had to take some drastic steps to keep discipline, including what amounted to an execution during a one-sided duel. This has been met with mixed reactions from your subordinates. Some reckon he had it coming, some are angry with you and others are now fear you where before they did not. You're becoming an officer now, no longer 'one of the lads'. Perhaps you haven't been for some time.

With a sentient Undead warrior recovered from their dream-like state, you can finally turn your attention to the big issues like incoming reinforcements, a spy and the sneaking suspicion that something has been taking control of your body and mind.

For some reason the Doc, having failed to elicit and actual name, has insisted on using an alternative to the slang ‘Kid’. ”Now your –ahem- Lieutenant has indicated you know a few other phrases in hand signals, might you show them?”

Kid hesitates, but then runs off the only other words he was taught in his short tenure with the soldiers of the Neumunster Legion and Black Company. Doctor Arnulf K. Kurerfitz pales and grips the table he was leaning on.

”Oh dear. Oh mein dear sweet Olivia, give me strength. –Ahem-. Clearly if we are to begin your medical education we must first approach your lack of lessons in communication” The Doc takes a moment to compose himself by rubbing his spectacles. He pauses at a moment, squinting outside the window of the Manor before putting them back on. ”Child. Do you know that young coloured fraudeline watching us from the roof outside?”

Kid looks over his shoulder at one of the young Zakashi sisters watching them, or more specifically Kid, like a hawk. The hairs don’t rise on Kid’s back or anything, but they do suddenly feel uncomfortable.

Looking to Vara and back at Azura, you get a devilish idea in mind. Azura then looked surprised as you suddenly close in along her side.

You gently caress Azura back and give a look at Vara. You whisper to the centaur princess ear and move the two of them into a more private tent.

Slightly embarrassed as she no doubt has your own idea in mind she waves her hand to have her handmaidens leave the tent for you three alone.

"You know, when I changed that jerk into Vara it wasn't only to save his life but also as a personal gift to you. Now that she is a proper servant you can use her for entertainment and advisor. She is still smart and has her memories, we could use that in this war, but first..."

You move to Vara, gently rubbing her breasts in a circular pattern in a slow and teasing way, making her blush.

"She needs training, both of you do, just because one is the master and the other is the servant is not excuse for both or one of you two to be lousy in bed."

Then you teach them and then teach you since as centaurs they know better what the right spots for their species are, you even get Vara to confess "experimenting" with her new body when she was alone. You three have a very busy night and in the morning you are all tired but happy.

Then the tiredness finally gets you and you fall asleep. You are back into your headspace, did Kagehana grow again? She looks... more adult and developed than you do or is just your imagination?

You then decide to go somewhere more relaxing, maybe a garden? You head to a beautiful garden with a full moon. Kagehana follows you.

You wonder how much the shadow demon has changed, how she has changed you and you have changed her. Clearly after your recent escapades with women quite a lot. Though from what you could tell it was an odd loop were you indulge, she indulges and then makes you want to indulge more. A vicious cycle so to say. Though by this point you don't mind it at all.

While sitting in the pleasant garden your mind drifts to what your friends might be doing, and what you want for them in the future. You... you want your friends and lovers to be happy. Maybe get the Imp and the bicorn together? Get Anna and Victoria drunk with Oni's sake so they finally end having sex? Marry Aki and Yuki? Encourage your kitsune sis and your demon sis to end together?

Damn... you sure are meddlesome, but you are not mother. You prefer a gentler touch while possibly not violence. You feel regret and pain because Mother... no... because Melena was too far gone, because you couldn't save her.

Reminiscing you look at the Mommy doll in your hand. It was Malena’s greatest possession but it serves largely now as a grim reminder of what had happened to that little girl. You wonder for a moment if Malena's plushie has her soul on it but that's a silly idea isn't it? After all, her memories were inside of you so it seems, so maybe the soul could rest elsewhere? Maybe. But you had no idea, and you were pretty sure a vampire’s soul dies when you pierce their heart with a stake. Then again Malena wasn’t an ordinary vampire…. You shake your head vigorously to rid the thoughts from your head. Such ideas won’t get you anywhere right now.

Suddenly you felt a glow forming within your pocket, the communication orb Auriel gave you radiated an odd glow, but you were technically still in your mental world? Who was calling you?

Looking at the orb in your hand you feel an uneasiness, the glow spoke more to your feelings dread as the orb radiated an odd dark color black color which it has yet to ever do.

Writing up a Noble who is in charge or part of whatever the equivalent of the "CIA" or "FBI" is this setting. Former piece of shit who has changed his ways and now serves Lucia.

Delfos is a sneaky bastard. He wasn't a Chaser, but his fame as an uncatchable anonymous shade in the streets earned him the same disdain as one. As a solo criminal, he lived a simple lifestyle. Steal to get cash, then waste the stolen cash on prostitutes and opium. However, one day, he got caught, and spent several months in prison. During this time, he talked to one of the guards, who through her charisma and honor, managed to make him understand that his ways were wrong. During a Chaser raid, the prison got destroyed, and this guard who changed his life got killed. Furious, he started to instigate a plan to prove his worth to the Lucians, and take his revenge onto the Chasers.

Eventually, through years of efforts, hassles and controversies, he managed to become the Noble of the Secret Guard, mostly through sheer display of criminal talent used in good ways.

A couple of the other Nobles still don't trust him though, so he is often unable to get his voice heard in political matters, much to his frustration. Because of this, he prefers to simply remain silent during official meetings and later tries to talk to people in private to get his opinion listened to.

Hold on there! Just a heads up, Planet Lucia just entered the winter season, time of day is 5x the speed of Earth's 24-hour period, and White Desert (Monochrome People) seceded from the main continent. Once the Lucians vs. Chasers war is dealt with in Yerivia, southern Lucia will be unlocked for exploration. Going there will result in your vision turning black-and-white, and it is a high-level zone. Level up your character first and be prepared for that kind of adventure. Characters whose HP reaches zero will find themselves woken up back in their own real world and will have to wait a day (4.8 hrs real time) before revisiting again.
