QUEST BLOG (I know...): https://qm-vox.tumblr.com/

You are Brianna la Croix, necromancer, and shortly before this awkward conversation with a one-armed ex-pirate just shy of being physically 18 you got help investing your newfound money from Princess Amalie, the royal for whom money is quite literally her job.

It's a good thing you have that load off of your mind, because Gemma is joining the short, yet seemingly growing, list of people lining up to chop bits of their life span off so they can play with bones.

"What is it you're expecting to learn?" you ask, plainly.

"Necromancy."

You don't know what you were expecting there.

Gemma seems to have an ongoing (problem? talent? Let's say 'condition') where her facial expression is only capable of 'placid calm with optional serious stare' and 'I have literally just been stabbed'. You look at her, patiently awaiting your reply, and sigh. "Can you sit, please?"

Nathan reaches to pull out a chair for Gemma. The young woman yanks it herself, directing the Optional Serious Stare at your husband, before taking her seat.

"What is it you want to learn that you think necromancy will provide to you?" you ask, going for more explicit wording.

"I have no idea what necromancy is fully capable of."

"...What is it you want to achieve that you think necromancy can help you accomplish?" you press, carefully.

Gemma moves her finger in circles on the table, looking down on it with distant, idle detachment. "I would like to stop being afraid of death. I have no fear of battle. I have fought before. I know how to survive. But I cannot fight time."

"That seems like a poor coping mechanism," you point out.

"I apologize. Please direct me to the nearest physical embodiment of my mortality that I might fight or befriend it."

Amy snorts coffee from her nose. You struggle not to smile at the deadpan delivery.

"I do not have to ask you," Gemma points out. "There are other necromancers. The elf seemed competent. If she refuses me, I can seek the necromancers of the Cornucopia. Someone will teach me what I wish to know."

"You have your whole life ahead of you," Nathan says, a little confused. "Why deliberately shorten it? I mean, yes, you just said why, but...why?"

"If I cannot spend it as I wish, my life is not yet mine," Gemma says quietly. A cup of coffee is placed in front of her; she immediately moves her finger to the spoon, stirring the cup in the same slow circles as before.

This is The Fighting Quest. This quest is based on the manga and anime series Hajime no Ippo. The series focuses on the sport of Boxing, and the relationships of the athletes and their supporters. In this quest you'll play as a sixteen year old boy from Japan, but which character you play as will cause the beginning of the quest to vary considerably. There is a choice of three boys to play as, each one fairly distinct from one another. While they each may be unique individuals, they will all be drawn to the sport of boxing. Specifically the Featherweight class.

For those familiar with the series, the player will be discovering boxing a short time before Itagaki goes pro. This is a considerable time after Ippo, the main character of the original series, becomes the Featherweight Japanese Champion.

The first choice of the Quest will determine your player character, his physical attributes, and where he lives. These will all have numerous effects on your starting career as a professional boxer.

>A. Riku Fujita. Age 16. Highschooler with a penchant for getting into brawls. He lives with his mother, step-father, and older sister. Riku is 5'3, and 134 Lbs. Due to spending a fair amount of time outside, his skin is somewhat tanned. His black hair is short and shaggy, and his eyebrows are a little bit bushy. His cheeks appear rounded and soft. He has naturally broad shoulders, and is built to be stout.

+ Brawler. Limited fighting experience.
+ Powerful. His broad back carries heavy weight, despite a lack of physical conditioning.
-Slow
-Poor Cardio
--Family is poor.

>B. Kaede Kita. Age 16. Highschooler, studious and well rounded. He lives with his father, and little brother. He's 5'5, and 123 Lbs. + Good Cardio
++ Strong Legs
+Athletically inclined
-Weak punches
-No fighting experience
-Family is middle class.

>C. Yuuta Yamamoto. Age 16. Highschooler. Likes video games. He lives with his mother and father, though he's an only child. He is tall for a Japanese boy, at 5'9. He's just as notably, thin, however, at 129 Lbs. His hair is medium length and completely unkempt, and his eyes continually seem tired from exposure to a screen.

+ Left handed
+ Long arms
+ Good natural reflexes
++ Family is very wealthy.
-Poor Cardio
-Poor Strength
--No predisposition to athletic ability at all.

Fucking Ippo quest, let's go!

For those wondering about Naruto Quest, and for those interested in this quest, I want to note this is something of a teaser. I'll be running this thread mostly for set up, and to talk about the idea, but as planned on Tuesday I'll run Boruto Quest.

As we're approaching the mid point of Boruto Quest I feel like I'd like to take a small break from it, so when that time comes I'd already like to have this idea established so we can smoothly segue into that.

The future: a time of unimaginable opportunity. Time travel was discovered in the late 2050s due to a freak teleportation experiment. Since then, people from around the globe have been eager to traverse the sea of time, but few have dared to do so.

The limit for this time travel is around 100 million years, where the earth is still recognizable and life somewhat resembles that of today, but with much more extreme adaptations. This is where our story shall be told.

>100 million years: Hothouse World
Most of the earth has been submerged due to rising sea levels, creating shallow seas, massive brackish swamps, and tropical rainforests. What was northeastern Asia (due to a collision with Australia) is now the largest mountain range on earth, even surpassing the Himalayas of the Holocene.

>Bengal Swamp
Ehat was southeastern Asia has now become part of a massive brackish swamp, spanning almost every corner of what was Asia. Due to its brackish nature, the creatures that inhabit it are from both marine and terrestrial origins.

>Great Plateau
What was northeastern Asia has become a massive plateau. Due to its rather remote location and immense height, few creatures can live here; even so, some still cling to life trough extreme adaptation or coevolution.

>Shallow Seas
What was eastern Asia has now been replaced by shallow seas, teeming with new life unlike anything before or since. Many of the niches utilized by coastal fish have since become occupied by new strange creatures.

>Antarctic Rainforest
What was Antarctica has now shifted to a much more hospitable position just below the equator. In that time, the once frozen continent has become a tropical paradise, but everything is not as it seems. This new Eden is a battleground.

You are one of many "Joes," people who have been selected for experimental time travel (basically guinea pigs). Due to a bug in your teleporter, you are unable to return to your time for around 30 days while the machine repairs itself. You have to survive until then in order to complete your mission, and be celebrated as a great explorer.

It has been days since you last drank, let alone last ate. Your skin stretched thin over malnourished bones tears as you're thrown onto a hewn stone floor.
"Rise maggot."
But even if you had wished to, you cannot. A rough hand pulls you back up, and you see the figure of the man who has thrown you and your people into chains. An elf by the name of Red Alyma.
"No need to be so cruel Folren" She speaks to the figure holding you up. "This is our esteemed guest!"
She gives you a smile with a little too much warmth and sympathy, "See them to their chambers Folren, and do try and be more gentle."

You are half are dragged stumbling down a series of corridors, an oak door is opened and for the second time this night you are thrown against the floor; luckily this time your impact is muffled by thick carpeting. You start to look around but are arrested by a clear glass of water, you greedily drink it down before spotting a full-length mirror.

What do you see in the reflection?

Born as a commoner, fate had much in store for the young Jean Capet, as his Lord, Jandant de Labendai took him in as his squire.
Years later, Lord de Labendai died without heirs, raising Jean to the rank of a Lord with his last breath.
However, the realm had fallen on hard times after two years of sickness that had befallen Lord Jandant de Labendai.
Still, there was hope. Jean took up the name and title of Lord Jean de Labendai, first of his name. In only a few months, he has proven a prodigy at ruling his lands, restoring what was left of them to peace and order, making many friends, but also a few opponents along the way.

At the moment, you are in the market hall, looking for anything veritable to give your hosts as a present. After all, House Sang-Valois will house and educate you over the next three months.
>Some coal for Ariadne might be nice. It's unusual, but she's always been the type to appreciate something that's actually helpful, right?
you say to yourself as you approach the stand.
>Good morning, Thorbjörn. I wold like to buy some of your best charcoal.
you say to the viking trader. He nods.
>Of course. Gotta keep your castle warm during the winter, right?
he asks. You tell him of your plan to give it to Ariadne as a gift. He shrugs.
>It's surely useful, but I'm not sure if it will be received very well. After all, misbehaving children get coal for Saint Nicholas' Day, don't they?
Well, this is a good point. In the positive just like in the negative. What is your decision?
>Ariadne did a lot of things that weren't very smart or proper. I guess this would be a nice joke. Still, we should get her something else, too.
>This will be sufficient. It's helpful, just to her liking. Also, it's a nice joke, isn't it?
>No, I think I will need something else. Still, thank you.
>Something else? (Write in)

Now, you are standing in front of the book seller, asking him for something regarding art or culture. He turns around and begins to sort books into two towers, one much higher than the other.
>Well, all of these books might be interesting. The others are mostly... manuals.
he tells you. You start to look through the various books.
Do you think one of these fit for Lord Sang-Valois? Or could it be interesting for other people?
>Sculpting for beginners. A guide on creating sculptures from various materials.
>History of the Roman Empire. A history book with a few nice illustrations.
>Long way home. A purely prosaic romance novel.
>None of these will do what I intend them to do. I will have to look elsewhere.

>By the way... did you know that I intend to open a school for the people of this village?

he asks. You nod.
>This is an impressive business oportunity. I think I will soon improve my selection. Is there anything special your lands would need very direly?
Well, this man is asking the right questions. What kind of books might be good to have?
>Simple books to teach people, especially children to read. Gotta start somewhere.
>Farming guides. You can learn to read from everything, so why not add another chance to learn?
>Entertaining literature. Besides work and alcohol, there is not much to do in your lands.

Moreover since she didn't think much of the present we got her last time tell her it's so she can use it to smith her own weapon with it.

I am Mewtwo, the result of an experiment to make the world's most powerful pokèmon. When my creators sought to control me, I broke out and left to find my origins, as well as the limits of my strength.

>Last time, we had a discussion about what gym leaders do with the ex-leader and went out to search for the source of the psychic screeching...

I tell the old man, <I just heard another screech from somewhere in town and that takes priority. I'll head over to the gym afterwards.>

"Aren't you worried that people will react badly to a strange Pokemon walking into town?"

<It's not my problem, unless they make it my problem. In which case, they'll regret it.>

"Don't cause trouble or the police will be called in, and even you will have trouble against six pokemon at once."

<That sounds like it could be an interesting challenge.>

"If you were to start winning, they'd have to call in the gym leader and other trainers and eventually you'd be beaten, and someone might have the bright idea to throw a pokeball."

<Point made. I'll try to avoid drawing attention to myself then.>

"Good. Just let me know when you go to challenge the gym. I'd like to see that ungrateful whelp taken down a peg or two. "

<I'll do that then.> <Come on Vulpix, we're going.>

As we head down the winding path to the town, I reach out with my mind and try to figure out where the screech could have come from. I also give the town a detailed look over from above, in case the cause is hidden.

Most of the town seems fairly similar to before, however there are a few places that seem different from before, as well as some areas that seem suspicious.

Firstly there's a house on the east side of town that looks like it's on the verge of collapsing, even though somebody lives there and the surrounding houses are new. Secondly there's a mental blank patch around the fancy building in the center of town that wasn't there before. Finally there's a shining human presence arriving at the train station and a large crowd waiting for them.
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Of the three suspicious places, by far the most efficient route would be to check out the run-down house first, followed by the fancy building and finally check out the commotion by the train station. However, the lack of any presences near the fancy building is by far the most suspicious and everyone being at the train station gives me a much better chance at sneaking in now, rather than later.

Decision made, I tell Vulpix <I suspect the screech came from the fancy building in the center of town. Follow me and try to avoid getting seen.>

Vulpix nods and we set off.

The outskirts of town are almost deserted and my ability to detect presences lets us easily avoid the few people who are still around. As we draw closer to the fancy building, avoiding people becomes harder and harder. More than once, I'm forced to take a more circuitous route to avoid groups of people who are either heading for the Pokemon center or rushing towards the train station. It's a little challenging to navigate the side streets from a memory of the town from above, but I manage with a minimum of getting lost.

I peer out from a side alley and into a wide plaza with the building I've been searching for. The front of the building has a neon sign depicting a stylised E on the front, along with the words 'Evolving trainers and Pokemon.' in smaller writing.

The front of the building is a pair of sliding doors, opened fully to display a grand lobby with a few stalls littered around, but nobody appears to be in. A psychic sweep of the area doesn't help as even the people I saw earlier don't show up.

The only problem is that the Pokemon center faces onto the same plaza and a group of hurried looking trainers entered about a minute ago and I don't know when they will leave.

>I have a few options. Roll 1d100 regardless of option chosen.

>Risk being seen and rush across the plaza now.

>Wait for the people to leave and then sneak across, talking longer but having less chance of being seen.

>Search for another entrance to the building, and risk setting off an alarm.
>>

‘I don’t know what to believe with you to be honest.’ Realizing your mistake, you decide to tack on one last detail. ‘Sir.’

He doesn’t reply, rummaging into what looked like a box of medical supplies. You wince as you straighten yourself – your prosthetic exoskeleton was still a little stiff, so you couldn’t adjust your joints as freely as you would have liked. Your thoughts return to Akashi – no doubt she’d have an earful for you when you arrive back in Yokosuka; you roll your shoulders to double-check: it was indeed a little stiffer than before… and a slightly out of alignment, now that you got a hand on it. The Grand Lieutenant nears you, holding up what looked like a cross between gauze and a sponge… and the other had a needle. You immediately fill a chill go down your spine as he gestures for you to undo your shirt.

You obey.

The top finds its resting place on the bench; The Grand Lieutenant makes his way behind you to start with your check-up. You hiss in pain as you feel the needle break skin… he’d injected something into your side, prompting you to spin – and almost knock his head. He ducks, of course – and glares at you, his patience wearing thin from your antics.

‘That hurt!

‘The Fairy’s Tears concentration is too high. This injection’s to make sure that you don’t pee blood at night, Commander.’ You quickly shut up, leaving him to his work. ‘When you’ve seen enough, you can tell at a glance. They mean well, but they’re hopeless at human biology.’

‘The KanMusu?’ You snap, almost venomously.

‘The Fairies.’ He looks at you, as though incredulous that you had thought about it.

You don’t reply, allowing him to continue with his work. Other than the odd wince, you find him… an adequate replacement for Akashi’s gentle hands.

‘It’s a lot easier when you’re an intern.’ He says absently. ‘It’s almost impossible to screw up in a simulated environment – every mistake you make, you can just reset and do again until you can get it right.’ You feel tape sticking to your skin as he steps back. ‘Life doesn’t give us that luxury.’

He nods, placing his hands into a bowl of liquid. You were done.

Twenty After Zero is a quest set 5 months after the end of society as we know it. Before any more information about the quest is revealed, we must first produce a character with a political alignment.

Post the image above with a single mark representing the political affiliation you would like the character to have. The character's position on the graph will be averaged between all submissions, so it's likely that they will start out with moderate views. This is not necessarily set in stone.

You may include a suggested gender and age along with your submission, but these shall be picked to the discretion of the author, so make it interesting!

Submissions will be averaged 60 minutes after this post, or after 10 unique submissions, whichever should come first.

Well I'm phoneposting so I can't do a lot, but I do suggest a far bottom right alignment. Essentially a Batshit insane-sell your children to the devil-sociopath with a small (Yuge) compulsion for profits and exploitation.

And I think being a young girl would be absolutely terrifying, so let's do it.

For years, harsh and unforgiving Primal World has kept any intelligent life that manages to take hold in isolated pockets, while beasts that are bigger, stronger, and more deadly roam the land unhindered, but no longer. Some of the intelligent beings of Primal World have formed small but powerful city-states, and have begun expanding their influence through the mountains, jungles, savannas, and grasslands of their world. What's more, scouts have told the people of their cities tales of ancient, all-powerful beings, offering great power to those that share their ideals. Will you help to preserve the Primal World's natural state, bend it to your will, or ignore these Ancients, and forge your own path?

Joining the game is simple, just fill out the sheet (And put your desired starting location):

Questions like this usually go in the general thread
>>1068215

But to save you time, just about anything goes here. The only way to find out if anyone is interested is to run it and see who joins.

We've got one already involving an occultist, but I'd love to see another one, particularly if it involves less magic, more tech, and stuff involving go-gangs.
>>
>>1080246
I'd still include magic.
I don't do Shadowrun as a replacement for regular cyberpunk; there's other stuff then that that uses plain old cyberpunk better, even if it's not as famous or popular.

I do Shadowrun because it's Shadowrun and despite the trappings of cyberpunk it really is it's own thing at this point.
