You are Lorelei Vedder, magical girl for hire currently working for Silver Eye Solutions, a umbrella corporation for magical girl mercenaries such as yourself, located in scenic The Intersection, a dimensional nowhere and everywhere where you rest, recuperate, live, and get details for your next job.

And right now you're being reminded that some crowds could be kinda tough. You're here doing your best to sing your heart out at a karaoke contest, after dragging your friend and workmate Miranda Styles out to spy on your OTHER friend, Izumi Yayoi, after learning that she was on a DATE of all things; not something you normally considered her to do. It'd been going well so far, but after dinner (a time in itself) they'd come here, and you couldn't resist taking part, spywork or not.

You think you're doing a pretty good job of nailing the beats and tone, personally! Unfortunately, you don't need to impress yourself, you need to impress the crowd.

You can see a lot of heads lean forwards, some nodding in solemn agreement to the lyrics you belt out with all the soul and sincerity of a forlorn love, but for some reason...damnit, that just seems to be all you get out of them. It’s a cool, collected atmosphere here, and you can see some people leaning back, ordering a few more drinks, and on the whole, it seems like things are the right amount of calm with just a bit of...confidence, perhaps you could say.

Izumi and Julius, at the very least, seem to be cuddling together; Izumi has a small smile on her face as she leans on Julius’ shoulder, his arm wrapped around her. He’s sitting there, eyes closed, enjoying the music, and you can see him squeeze her occasionally.

Miranda’s in the back, downing her...third? Glass of something, you’re not sure what. She generally had a decent tolerance, but you’re not sure if she’s just more affected by your musical prowess, or if she’d rather forget tonight so far. Not like it’s been that bad, honestly!

At any rate, you soon finish up, and earn a solid, rousing applause from the crowd. No standing ovation or anything, but that’s fine. You’re pretty sure you’re in the top echelon, at least! Maybe it’s just your song was too calming...yeah, that’s it. Everyone was just too exhausted. Izumi and Julius certainly seemed to enjoy it, at least.

>Sit with them for a bit, try to wring out details. It’ll be FUN trying to needle the guy here and there...
>Head back with Miranda, leave them to themselves for now. You can ask for more info later!
>Maybe get everyone together! If Julius was going to be around more often, then better sooner than later!

“Well, at least we know she’s alive...” Acer comments in relief.

Bulma rubs her eyes, a soft smile appearing on her face. “Y-yeah...” Her daughter catches a glimpse of the blue-haired woman in the crystal ball, flying quickly, and seems transfixed on her.

However, Bra isn’t quite flying towards you. She seems to be headed in another direction, checking her watch, then accelerating. She might not be aware of what’s going on. Or she is, and she’s focused on something else important right now.

Agh, what to do...

>Today's forecast.

Foreboding lights in a abandoned college town and angry bots on the prowl. Oh don't forget the lake monsters and undead fisherman!

Welcome to the Post Apocalypse. Staring the amnesiac man who is slowly going insane and trying to survive. Now attempting to enter a college where everyone mysteriously vanished someday out of the blue. He is not however alone as he now has a few people with him. Oh what lies in store for our so called hero?

Well too bad because he isn't one and wont likely ever become one.

The college as it turned out besides being oddly abandoned is the only place in this entire town that appears to have someone beaten you to it. As you can find tracks and places that have apparently been gone through admittedly. Which would of been normal if you weren't at this town in particular and most importantly why did they leave all the good stuff behind?

Yet more mysteries to add into the mix. Luckily after looking around while you were able to finally orient yourself to the local facilities. Mostly due to the fact you found a nifty map. So you along with others hopped out of the VTOL craft and prepared to figure out where your gonna hit first.

It's a good start

In a time of global conflict, the elite international task force Overwatch formed. Soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities: together, they ended the Omnic Crisis and restored peace to a war-torn world. For a generation, the heroes of Overwatch protected the world, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery.

After many years, Overwatch became troubled, and finally disbanded. Without them, world conflict and terror rose again. Governments weakened by strife ceded power to mega-corporations and private security forces. Some omnics returned to war with humans, while others remained peaceful but faced fear and violence. Overwatch was gone…but the world still needed heroes.

You are a young man who's been many things: adventurer, treasure hunter, freedom fighter, and international criminal. Recently you encountered the re-formed Overwatch: a grand title for two ex-agents, Winston and Tracer, operating as outlaws out of an abandoned Watchpoint. Despite their down-and-out-status, or perhaps because of it, you were inspired to join them. You left your old life behind to become the first recruit of the new Overwatch.

Now you and Tracer are travelling the globe, defending the people of the world from harm and searching for potential agents to rebuild Overwatch. The world needs heroes. Maybe you can be one of them.

Previously on Overwatch Quest:

You contacted a woman tied to Overwatch's past and to yours: Fareeha Amari. Once the heir apparent of Overwatch, now a captain in Helix Security's global elite forces, she also happens to be an old flame of yours. You put aside your personal feelings to speak to her. She was the commander of the squad that defended the main breach at the Temple of Anubis, and you wanted to let her know the truth behind her comrades' deaths -- that Anubis had broken free by another method, and even now threatened the world. You also felt that if anyone could work "in the system" and help track down this rogue AI, it might be her.

You didn't mention the part about how Overwatch was starting up again, or how you'd somehow found yourself as its de facto commander.

You wonder what she'll say when she finds out that you joined Overwatch before she did.

You begin your journey overlooking an ithsmus created by a winding River and a lake. You know the forest will become dangerous at night, and you will require, at least, some shelter from the creatures that lurk. You will also need a source of food, and a bed.

New players are always welcome!

This is the continuation of the experimental Mageknight Academy. >>1066867, >>1095363
This iteration's rules have been updated based on creator and player feedback.

In this quest you assume the role of an aspiring student who is about to enter the Mageknight Academy of Madrid. You must hone your skills, make some friends (and perhaps also some enemies) and fight battles in order to prove yourself worthy of graduating as a fully fledged Mageknight. Each year (every 100th turn) your character will be tested by the academy to see if your character is progressing well and meeting the Academy's high standards. After the 3rd year your character will head off into a their first mission for a final test.

How to Join:
1) New players must fill out their character sheets. The sheet must include the following information: Their character's full name, backstory, 1 basic spell and 2 other basic spells/skills/talents/traits/knowledge/etc. of your choosing.
Note: Characters created are assumed to be students of 18 to 24 years of age.
2) Spells are written as "Cast X" with "X" being the name or effect of the spell.
3) Skills and Knowledges are given prefixes depending on the tier. New players all have theirs set to "Basic" tier.
Note: Anyone can join at any time. Latecomers and laggers are given bonus action points to catch up with the other players.

How to Play:
1) Post 2 actions and roll a 2d100. Each roll corresponds to an action.
2) All players must wait for the "TURN GO" post before they submit their actions. After which they must reply to that post with their chosen actions on this post.
3) After all actions are processed and a new turn begins, update your character sheet and include it to your actions post.
386 posts and 66 images submitted.
>>
Spellcrafting:
1) Spellcrafting involves fusing spells with various skills, knowledge and even other spells that your character has learned together creating a new spell.
2) There is no limit to how many things you can use in a single spellcrafting action.
3) The name of the spell will be determined by the QM. By default it'll be "Cast A B C..."
4) Your dice roll will also affect the result of the spellcrafting. Lower rolls will result in weak version of the spell and vice versa.

Interactions:
1) Role play is a free action. Feel free to talk to other players in-character.
2) Collaborative actions however, like trading and PvP, are not and require an action to be taken.
3) The same applies to interacting with NPCs albeit role play also cost an action point.

Combat:
1) Once combat is initiated you must roll 2 actions to either attack/defend/etc.
2) Your character can not do anything else non-combat related while in combat.
3) PvP requires both fighters to roll.
4) The goal is to hit your opponent while not getting hit yourself.
5) If both manages to block/evade or hit each other then the result is a draw.

Acquiring new Spells & Skills:
1) Study, train or take classes.
2) Learning new skills or spells requires only 1 turn
3) Training an already learned skill will raise it further to the next tier once enough progress points are accumulated.
4) The progress threshold is based on the Fibonacci sequence (1,2,3,5,8)

A more in-depth look of the rules (and some work-in-progress concepts) can be found here: http://pastebin.com/qfUzgJjd

In the aftermath of the beach, the students return to the school. Once the students in the hospital return there is to be a visit from the Madrid Municipality, the Mayor is even supposed to be there.
In light of the number of students injured, and in a few sad cases dead, classes have been canceled for one turn and varies shines for the students that have passed away can be found around campus.
It is a guilty thought that the students are glad it is nobody they know, not everyone is so lucky.

The coastal town of Diamond Shoals, a popular tourist destination in the summer but otherwise relatively sleepy in the off-season. Today will likely be no exception, having been asked to help out with an odd matter to say the least. A request by a strange local gem person for you to try and convince a girl you know, Sarah, to engage in a sort of test. Some type of endeavor to see if the subject can handle the sorts of difficulties faced in a "quest" or so you've heard it called. Unfortunately, the only way you managed to convince her to take the test, is if you would take it as well.

And so you, Owen, have that to look forward to today. Thankfully it's a day off work for you, so this is the only matter on your mind. Rolling out of bed from a waking by a car horn below outside, you groggily try to set about your day.

[Aurean Dominion]
The Dominion's ironsmithing efforts progress, though the elves prove no help in the research agreement. Under the helping hand of Droc, the Aurean Dominion begins to increase it's magic power [2/6].

[Machaka]
The Machakan people become better boatsmen [Boating III], and the figures are found, the tall one chasing the little one (Feel free to RP]. One of the Machakan people is sent to live amongst the Feathered Empire as a slave [-1 pop].

[Balbyionia]
To account for the Aurean Dominion's failures, the scribes of King Balthazar work overtime [Writing III]! The Kingdom expands north [+4 hex], and the knowledge is sent to Arakos.

[Feathered Empire]
Better Infantry training methods are sent to Machaka, while better methods of flight begin research [4/8] and better architectural principles are studied with the fire fairies [Architecture II].

[Henoan Conclave]
Agricultural research progresses slowly [4/6]. The Conclave's experiments into new ways to improve their economy end up nowhere, and the Conclave's leader goes meditating [1/4].

[Arakos]
The hobgoblins research into basic siege technology bears fruit [Siege I], while the technologies are sent to Balbyion. The search for iron stalls, but is nearly done. [shouldn't be /10, my fault.]

[Gynnead Ceadn]
>Addendum: Add [Guardian to military [1x (-1 food, -1 currency/turn)]
Seeming to sense the need for a better defense, the spawning pool spits out a Virwittan. However, the lack of food makes training it impossible [Once you acquire enough food, the Virwittan will be added to your army]. The sulfer vent is made useful [2/4], while a quick defense is formed [.5x] and sent to the front. Traps are started in the western outpost, but don't finish in time [2/4]. And finally, the Ceadn start to work on improving their telepathy skills [1/4]
>Your forces have engaged the Arakosi. Roll 3d10 (Gaurdian [1x] Virwattan [1x] Militia [.5x]

[Riaetrusqe]
No economics research is done, though the Riaetrusqe mages have begun studying water magic in greater depth [4/6]. More outriders are trained [1.4x (-2 food, -1 currency)] (List techs/bonuses next time. First and final warning.)
>Event: Riaetrusqe scouts report two tall humanoid figures wandering around- tall and dark skinned, one wears a white gown and looks to be scattering ashes; where she goes, the trees and plants grow thicker. Where the other, in a black dress with shimmering orange trim, walks, fires seem to frequently start, almost out of nowhere.
>Event: A giant crocodile has been spotted in the ocean of Riaetrusqe's southern border, as well as a strange fisherman.

[Black Feather]
The Clergy has been established [Clergy I], but in the excitement, the knowledge of herbalism isn't sent north. However, the roads are finally paved, increasing trade within the Republic [Roads I, +1 currency].

[Butterland]
Though there's no progress on the docks, the school is nearly done [3/4], and the trade is completed (be more specific next time.)

This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of trades skill set have brought you far. You're a Chunin of notable talent for your age. You're on a mission to track down a rogue jinchuriki named Usagi, whom you defeated in the Chunin Exams.

The man you have cornered is clearly highly confused. "You freaks can't just come in here and do whatever you want! This is our country, if you don't think I won't tell-"

You slap him across the face, and tears start to lightly well up in his eyes as gives you a stunned glare. Being slapped by a teenager and his pals can have a rather demoralizing effect on you. You begin to explain yourself. "We've been hired by the Stone to help bring back Usagi. With minimal damage in mind, of course. People like you who only serve to agitate him are probably the reason he's left in the first place, so I really don't want to hear about your supposed patriotism."

You bear down with a fiery glare. Ever since the mission in the Mist, you feel a renewed sense of duty in all forms. You'll certainly be taking things considerably more seriously. Kichiro and Ai hold the man by the arms. Ai leans down, and whispers something to the man that you can't quite hear.

He looks up at her stony white face, and back to you. He doesn't even dare glance at Kichiro, who's also staring in a similarly harsh manner. He begins to understand that, more than your average squad, these teenagers haven't an ounce of mercy for those who step out of line in such a cruel and unnecessary fashion. Since he's just a petty thief, and not some hardened mercenary, he breaks down. He just wants to get the hell out of here. "F-fine! I'll tell you everything! I-I don't know the exact reason he went rogue, but he killed a guard that was investigating him! Apparently there's been a string of murders on the outside of the wall. It's a rumor that he got bored of hunting animals, and started to go after p-people!"

The man is nearly slobbering on himself. You nod to your allies, and they drop him as you push him forward.

You need to investigate Usagi's home for any clues. But clearly these people have disrupted the crime scene. What do you want to do?

>A. Have Kichiro and Ai hold them here while you go in and investigate. Take them to the gate after, and report their crimes.
>B. Just let them go, they're not important in the grand scheme of this mission. Investigate.
>C. Let Kichiro do what he wants to them. That's punishment enough. Investigate.
>D. Write-in

You sat up in the sunny forest clearing, feeling a cool breeze wafting through the trees in greeting. The familiar song of birds that you had been your companion for the past ten years tittered spritely, heedless of the disorientation you felt for having woken up here once again.

...Once again.

"I can't exactly show you around if you keep dazing off whenever you find a sunny spot." Tim chuckled, "All kidding aside though, we really best be off if you wanted to make it to the Shrine before the L̵̴̨u͡n̛͞a ͏̷͢D͘̕o͡m̵̧͜in̵i̕o̶n does."

You didn't bother trying to say your acquaintanceship was a lie this time. You knew Tim, even if he didn't know you. Even if he thought he knew you.

"Where am I?"

"...You still asleep, Irue?" He hunter took a closer look at you. "We're just inside the Fae Forest. You wandered off while I was breaking camp. Don't suppose you broke something of your own when I wasn't looking, eh?" Your head pulsed with a dull pain, and your memories were fuzzy... Like a rapidly fading dream. It was beginning to take a concentrated effort to remember what led to you being here. A blur of things falling to pieces, and then sinking into that viscous nothing in the abyss... And then all you knew was nothing.

"I'm fine." You accepted his hand and let him pull you to your feet. "Shrine... We're going to the Shrine of Dryad, right?"

"I hope so!" Tim laughed, slapping you on the back good naturedly as the two of you began to move, "It's the only Shrine around here, after all."

That... That wasn't right. "What about Carona?"

"What about it? Carona doesn't have anything big and important in it, Irue. You should know that by now; You and your friend were the most 'excitement' we'd had in years." He drew himself up with faux indignity, "An' between you and me, I'm not letting my guard down now that you're moving out here permanently, either. You're nice enough, but ya bring trouble."

"I am becoming resigned to that." You grumble along behind him, even as your mind turned to try and make sense of what was going on. You were back here, for whatever reason... And things were going differently this time. What had happened that night? The man that had arrived, a wagon carrying something, and the dripping of blood... Your stomach still turned when you recalled the strength of despair that had filled Elly's cries when she had reached it.

And then everything had come to an end, and you awoke once more.

>Ask Tim to take you somewhere (where?)
>Hurry back to the Shrine
>Ask Tim something (what?)

QUEST BLOG (I know...): https://qm-vox.tumblr.com/

You are River la Croix, necromancer and demonologist, and your cousin has suggested to you that you should bury all evidence that the man who taught you these things did so. He also suggested that you not react hastily about this, which is fair enough. You won't.

You brush a lock of hair behind your ear, helping to force it away from your head. There's no need to be this stressed, but you want to make a good impression and it almost feels like you've already made a bad one for no reason.

"I realize that I am asking quite a bit of you here," James continues, about as gently as he can manage. "I can see on your face that the notion is offensive to you."

"He was my teacher," you say quietly. "He did well by me. But I'm going to guess you have some solid reasoning for saying what you said, so...let's hear it, I guess. I'm going to guess lynchings."

James shakes his head. "No. Assuming my first impression is correct - and it usually is - there is no need for the family to put you or Brianna down, and I will be the first to argue against that move. You love your sister?"

"Yes," you say immediately.

"You support her desire to see this school through?" When you nod your head, James continues. "Robert's shadow would not be helpful to this. The family's memory is long, and it remembers Robert as the leader of an army. The distrust of academia is one thing, but there are many who would conclude, not without reason, that you are seeking to inherit and surpass his legacy."

You blow a strand of hair out of your face. "...Family politics sound pretty grim and cynical."

"There's a reason so many of our children move away," James agrees. "But I am attempting to prepare you for a preventable worst-case scenario. Neither you nor Brianna needs to deal with this."

"Does that mean you support the idea?" you ask, quizzically. James shrugs expressively.

"Like yours, my duties are complex. I am a vampire hunter, but in that capacity I am also, at times, their advocate. I have no grudge to bear with the two of you and I suspect that Brianna will make her decision with or without my approval. It may as well be done with its best foot forward."

He may have a point, at that.

"Are you a necromancer?" you ask, curious. "You don't feel like it, but I can't imagine there's a reason for you not to be."

"I'm not," James admits. "I do dabble some in kineticism. I'm good with wood."

"Why - the stakes."

"Mhm. Among other things. There's almost always decent wood to hand." James gives you a long look. "You will be the first elf in the family and part of a very small selection of non-humans. That's not bad, but expect a certain amount of, ah, commentary about that."

"And elders slapping uppity younglings?" you hazard.

"...Seen that, have you?"

"Rose Cult," you answer, pointing down.

"Of course it was." James sighs. "I should probably visit them too. They still at the family shrine?"

"A lot of them are deployed in the defense of the Dungeon right now," you tell the vampire hunter. "They're fell fighters, though. They know their business."

"No one has ever accused a la Croix of being bad at what we do." James gives you something almost like a smile. "And I don't think anyone will any time soon."

You are Brianna la Croix, necromancer, and James has been here for about two days now. He's asked you not to go too far if you can avoid it, while he learns more about the situation in Glen and speaks to Henrietta and, to his surprise, Amalie, about the proposal.

Nate's been gone for most of today, and you figure out why when he pulls up in a carriage with an impish grin on his face.

"You had Shankbird Day awhile back," the Hero teases. "Care to take a day off with me?"

"I - sure! Where're we going?"

"There's a festival going on in Kurt's Crossing," Nathan tells you. "I thought we'd attend in style."

Nathan opens the carriage door for you and helps you in, and he signals the driver to set off. Kat coughs from your feet. "Am I invited?"

> Sure
> Nah, take the day to yourself

"Black Hearts. Cold Steel. Dark Deeds."

These are the words of the Black Company, the infamous band of mercenaries that has been on one side or the other of every major conflict on the continent since its founding.
The Company has seldom cared who they fight for or the cause so long as they are paid, and paid well, when the killing work is done. Though they may be considered by some to be little more than glorified brigands, it cannot be said that the Black Company is not good at what they do.

Recently the Company has taken up a contract with a new employer, one more powerful than any that have come before. An employer with endless ambition, as well as the means and lack of moral scruples needed to pursue it. An employer that pays well...

Recap
Reinforcements have arrived! If only that were unequivocally good news. Having recently finished pacifying Tassenland, the major North-Eastern Province of the Neumunster Empire, this collection mercenaries, cultists, conscripts and vampires are Trouble with a capital T.

Kresden has been captured. You've managed to prevent your own troops tearing it apart in the process. Now if you can prevent these reinforcements doings the same and bring them to heel, you could project force across the whole of the Northern Provinces. Not bad for a few stray Merc platoons.

Strategically things could be looking up, but the traitor in your ranks and lack of news from the main body of the Company that has you worried.

Somewhere North of Oxenfurt Bridge, and South of Kresden
”Captain!” The Skald Lieutenant ‘Black Ear’ bursts into the command tent.

The cobalt maned Black Company Captain ‘Cutthorat’ Kiranova doesn’t spare a glance from her maps at his entry.

”LT ‘Black Ear’, word’s just come in from the 10th Rangers. Elven guerrillas have them pinned down by the riverside, I want the 12th and 13th Cavalry to brush off their attackers and bring them back in.”

”Cav’s gone.” Kiranova looks up at that, causing ‘Black Ear’ to flinch. ”Was just about to tell you so, Captain. Chevalisse Knight’s caught them less than a league out from the main force, dead to the last man. The 1st and 6th Infantry made it back through, but they’re pretty badly mauled.”

The Captain’s face doesn’t betray a hint of panic, Kiranova has never been one to rush into anything. Where another commander might waste time wondering how the hell the Free Alliance mustered a force here when beset on the other fronts, the Captain is thinking solutions first.

”Sound the retreat.”

”What about the Rangers?”

Another pause, this one longer.

”If the Chevalisse Paladins are on the field there instead of our own Calvary then the Rangers are already dead or might as well be. We need to save what we can, not lose more trying to save what we can’t.”

”Our Employer won’t like it.”

[/blue]”Our Employer will like losing this war even less. If the army doesn’t withdraw now there won’t be one this time tomorrow.”[/blue] A dangerous glint appears in those cold eyes. ”I am not in the habit of repeating myself, Lieutenant. Sound. The. Retreat.”

Your eyes sweep along the dim interior of the bar. Gaunt characters huddle and nurse their beers in their once red polyester booths browned with dust and varying stains. Condensation trails along the walls, almost as if it were running away from the mold collecting on the ceiling. Cobwebs coddle the top-shelf booze, untouched for generations. Behind the bar shines the only solace not in a liquid state, the television. The Gotham Blades were once again down by a sizable margin, and there was little doubt in your mind that the score would not get any kinder for your city's underwhelming team. The barkeep, Spivey you think his name was, lets out a grumble and reaches to switch the channel to something a little less depressing. Unfortunately, he finds the news.

"...And, with the combined forces of the Justice League and our military, the inter-dimensional time vampire threat was finally felled. Local hospitals are reporting that everyone is already on their way to a full recovery. All is fine, and the day is saved. This is Snapper Carr, reporting live from Metropolis. Back to you."

"Thank you, Snapper. Now, uh, we move on to the crime report. First, missing persons in the Southeast area of the city are as follows: Allen Roberts, Amie Thiesse, Angelina Cortez..."

Even for a place like this, its too depressing. You check your phone and see that its time to go, anyway. Bringing the musty glass to your lips, you tip it in full, letting the mug stay upturned for a few seconds so as to not miss out on any of the suds. You reach into your pocket and pull out a few crumpled bills. You count out the cash and give the bartender a quick gesture so that he sees the money left on the counter, and stumble out into the cold. You look up and squint to see the signage for the place you just stepped out of: "Spivey's Web". Looks like you got the name right. "Neat," you slur with a dumb smile. Now off to work...

Wait. Where was work again?
