>This is a quest taking place in the Fullmetal Alchemist setting, beginning at roughly the same time as the original story. However, some parts of the setting have been slightly altered. You will be playing as a Iskander Steiner, a young alchemist, who will develop based on the choices made by the players. Remember that write-ins are always welcome, and to have fun.

During the wait for spring, you focus mainly on your studies. In particular, becoming skilled enough at alkahestry to use it in combat. If Father shuts down alchemy again, it will be your trump card.

However, in order to keep from working yourself too hard before even starting the operation, you do make sure to take some time to relax while you can. You and Leah even take a day just to head out to Yock Island and reminisce.

"When I was a kid, my father took me out here to teach me how to survive in the wilderness. Just like your teacher, I suppose." Leah explains. "He was always with me though, rather than leaving me on my own. My mother died when I was too young to remember her, and he had to take care of me by himself. He was always glued to me, never letting me leave his sight. So when he suddenly died in an accident, I had no idea what to do. I didn't have any other family, I had nowhere to go. So I just came out here on a whim. And that's when I met you. You just seemed so helpless, and I had the means to do something about it. It was like I had found my purpose. I had no idea what that would end up leading to, but I still don't regret any of it. I'm just a normal person, not even an alchemist. I'm in way over my head with these high ranking military officers and homunculi, but I'm going to do whatever I can to keep looking after you no matter what."

The two of you renew your determination, as the day of the eclipse draws ever nearer. With it just two days away, you find your teacher knocking at the door for a visit.

"We're heading to Central." Izumi tells you. "I want to talk to Tucker before everything goes down. Not to mention, we've got soldiers practically banging down our door now. It's only a matter of time until they try to drag us there. You two should be careful as well."

>A.We can go with you

>B.We'll make our way there soon

>C.If we go with the soldiers, they'll take us right where we need to be for the plan, won't they?

>D.Other

This is Boruto Quest, a quest set in the universe of Naruto. It is during the generation of Naruto's son after everyone has graduated from their Genin exam. I haven't kept up with the series beyond the end of the original one, so this one is intended to recapture the feel of that time of Naruto. I will not be incorporating the main show or the Boruto movie's plot into the quest, although some recognizable characters will be present. You play as a 12 year old Chunin named Takeshi. You have been assigned a Jounin squad leader named Hanto, and your two squadmates are Kichiro, a young delinquent, and Ai, a strange social outcast of a girl. You are of average skill in most aspects, although your sharp intelligence, and your jack of all trades skill set have brought you far. You're a Chunin of notable talent for your age. You're training with your brother Hideki.

Good to have you back m80.

Before we start, here is a short side story from Shozuku's perspective.
--
Your eyes snap open.

It's not unusual for you to have difficulty sleeping. Your insistence on remaining underground has caused your internal clock to become quite disrupted, and the near relentless nightmares offer little peace. You stare up at the stone ceiling of the facility. The military complex was originally one of Orochimaru's hideouts, and your cultists have cleared and expanded many others like it. You find it fitting to fill in the spaces he left behind, considering that you obtained his goal of immortality so easily.

Swinging your legs over the side of the cot, you rub your face and stand up. The air down here is as cold as ever, and it helps to rouse you from your drowsiness. You stand up, and move to take a drink of water from a sink. You stare back at a pair of gaunt, lifeless eyes in the mirror.

At one point, you had the cultists waiting on you hand and foot, serving your every need. When you first dominated their pitiful excuses for leaders, you humiliated them by making them into slaves. They'd bring your breakfast, wash your body, and suffer your abuses without a word. Anything to escape being horribly disfigured by the acid.

It got extremely boring fairly quick.

You soon isolated yourself from the rest of the cultists, for several reasons. The honest one is that you really just wanted to be left alone. Most of them are just the scum of society leeching off of Jashin's power for a chance to assert their will on the world. What you tell them, is that you wish to not have any special treatment. To live in the same barracks they do, drink the same water and eat the same food. Compared to the high walls of the village gates, the common man is eager to accept a ruler who has no interest in stroking their ego.

Far in the distance, the sound of human agony can be heard. Down the halls echoes the moaning of still living torture victims can be heard. You don't take part in pointless sadism like that, but when you've forced your cultists to do terrible things in your name, you can't really blame them for being twisted. At minimum the average immortal has to kill on a nearly daily basis, so they have to get creative with it to maintain any sort of interest.

You are Sukāretto Sutorenjā, you died two days ago. Since then you've woke up in some strange land of paperhouses and bare feet, a place where eating is the ultimate luxury and most money goes towards alleviating the tedious boredom of eternity.

Last thread we did a lot of remembering, then we were tasked with hunting down a pervert by a fruit vendor who seemed veyr interested in the word of Go-single-D.

It doesn't take long for you to reach the office and knock. "Come in." Hidoi... yawns? from inside, you enter and find him half dressed.

"Good morning Hidoi." You say inclining your head politely, in the manner you've noticed the people here seem to do.

i]"Hey, don't do the bowing thing Sukāretto, no need to be formal." He rolls his neck cracking it in a series of pops and click uncomfortably similar to that of your arm and hips yesterday, "I'm not big on ceremony."

"Thanks." You say gratefully, "I've started working on something; a pervert groped Mira the fruit vendor."

His good mood goes down the drain immediately, "Damn. You said you're handling it right? I'll handle the thing I was going to ask you to do then." He lights up a cigarette and picks up a pair of keys from the desk inviting you to leave first. The two of you stand in the doorway, "Any questions about due process or need any advice how to track down this guy?"

You are Lieutenant Commander Reynolr, of the Citadel Empire, recently-promoted captain of the CAS Brora (PS-4-917), an armed trawler based in the wretched Kraegsk Archipelago. You were flown in to the primary naval base of the Kraegsk during uncommonly quiet weather, are now onboard the Brora.

Your orders are tied to the nature of the storm-ravaged Kraegsk - north of resource-rich islands and a major naval warzone, the floating wrecks of great warships are carried by the currents to smash against the jagged coasts of the Kraegsk. You are to recover Citadel personnel from wrecks, protect salvage ships, and ensure that the enemy Republic and its craven mercenaries does not gain control of the Kraegsk from their own naval base, at the opposite end of the archipelago. Every month, a convoy of cargo ships picks up scrap that cannot be used or embezzled by the forces of the Kraegsk and takes it back to the naval yards of your homeland - loss of these ships is unacceptable.

Before the Citadel-Republic war, the Kraegsk was inhabited by a series of destitute fishing communities living in the shadow of the ruins of the old Astaeran Empire. Now they are forced into the service of the belligerents, powerless to resist the meager forces allocated to the Kraegsk.

You are glad you were not sent the the great naval battles as a destroyer captain. Whatever the odds of surviving patrol duty in these stormy islands is, it must be superior to that of destroyer captains. A destroyer, admittedly, would be more impressive than your new command, the Brora.

1. CAS Brora.jpg

Brora is 40m in length and 8m in beam, capable of a measly 10 knots in calm seas, which is rarely the case in the Kraegsk. She looks seaworthy, if small, and is reportedly the standard for combat ships in the Kraegsk.

She’s armed with a single 12 pdr. cannon on a pivoting mount on the forecastle, two .303 machines mounted on either side of the bridge, and another .303 machine gun in a canvas-sheathed position on the stern. There are three rusty bolt-action rifles of foreign make stored in the armory closet, and you were issued a personal revolver with your rank.

Brora is undermanned, with 15 crew out of the normal 25 - of them, you only know the name of Master Evans, an elderly local fisherman who has been conscripted to be your guide and adviser in the harsh and unfamiliar Kraegsk.

As to the range, storage, and why there’s a crane bolted to the stern of the ship, you’ll have to ask someone.

Kraegsk Map No. 1.jpg
346KB, 1670x870px
You review the map of the Kraegsk and your patrol route. The rough center of the archipelago is divided between the floating forts of the Citadel and Republic, anchored to the shallow waters of the sinking volcano. The south is free of emplacements, as the massive warships helpessly drifting in from the north usually far outgun whatever salvaged weapons the forts are armed with.

Your timetable for leaving on patrol are exact. The timetable for returning only specifies the date by which your ship will be considered lost at sea. Despite your unfamiliarity with the region, your crew, and your ship, the timetable schedules you to leave on patrol within an hour.

Your map of Kraegsk has some additional notes about areas under Citadel control, pencilled in by Master Evans earlier. Anything of note that you discover will be added to the map. The patrol route for this sortie is marked by blue - the shaded area is where you are expected to patrol, and the circles are settlements or fortifications where you can seek shelter and repairs. Do not expect the civilians or the fort garrisons to aid you for free. Captains are expected to acquire local currency via personal scrapping.

You may check the map and your location whenever you wish, without wasting the choices at hand. Storms may cause you to lose track of where your ship is in the Kraegsk. Gods help you if you drift outside of the archipelago.

GAMEPLAY NOTES: Action will be conducted with a mixture of prompts and d10s. Various modifiers for the d10 rolls can exist, and will be explained before any decision is made. For example, during a naval battle, in addition to three range brackets, sailing in a straight line and missing the enemy will give a +1 to your next gun roll as your gunners find their range. If you manage to hit them once, you’ll automatically hit them for every turn afterwards until they maneuver, which messes with their aim modifiers worse than yours, but can take them closer or farther away from your ship - and the same applies to their fire on you. Of course, naval combat will be completely explained before the first naval battle, as will most mechanics.

Rolling a single 1 will not sink the Brora, nor get you killed outside of extreme circumstances. However, make several bad decisions coupled with some poor rolls, and your adventure might become “Survive Getting Shipwrecked On An Island Quest”.

>Two's Company Edition

The coastal town of Diamond Shoals, a popular tourist destination in the summer but otherwise relatively sleepy in the off-season. Occasionally though, there is some supernatural activity abound which is usually seen to by a few strange denizens of the town. For as unnatural as this activity might be though, it usually goes unnoticed by most everyone else. Usually.

You've seen your fair share though and are starting to think you picked the wrong town to move to.

If you're new, read the basic summary >>1175582 as this is also where you'll create your character.

We are a nomadic tribe in the Arctic regions. There are seals, polar bears, wolves, foxes, and other animals in this cold, snow region. We travel around this landscape, killing our prey and eating before moving on. Though, if you wanted, could this be the generation that decides to create civilization?

Urdir was a much different system now from when the Armada first arrived. Barren and deserted with the ruins of hidden Confederate facilities on a single world. Now it teemed with activity as ships departed from the three planets sporting dense shipyards constructing and repairing the fleets of the Armada. Legions Home spun in the darkness, its surface as grim and cold as the Legions determination as soldiers were broken down and trained.

Yet among all the industry there was one unassuming world covered in ice that circle the white star. Unnamed it was nonetheless an important piece of the Armada's plans for the future. Beneath miles of ice a facility harbored the twisted Blackscale necromancers and dedicated to their blasphemous projects in cloning and corrupting the Sunscale towards worship of the Wormstar and loyalty to the Armada.

Or so, that was their mission assigned by Jadyk himself. To ensure their cooperation and loyalty a taskmaster was sent, now that the invasion of Kanda was complete and in the hands of the Deep Rot.

Sur-Quro stood next to Dominator Valresko as they descended on a lift into the depths of the ice, the yuyut shivering despite the thick clothing she wore. Glancing at the solar-powered undead who had said little on their journey to this desolate world she finally broke the silence, "Jadyk is sending you to oversee a simple cloning project? Couldn't he send one of those brainjars that float around everywhere instead of sending you?" she asked incredulously, hoping to drive a wedge between the Lich and his General.

Turning his faceless gaze toward her by a fraction the smooth white bone cracks but does not part, his voice deceptively soft and calm for the power he embodied, "A cloning project with the potential to bring great change to the galaxy, Sur-Quro. The subjects, you may recognize, can be quite difficult in working with. Domination over your enemies can come about through many ways besides sheer military might. Economics or religion for example."

The former sub-admiral begins to speak but the lift finally reached the bottom and the doors slid open. Her eyes go wide in shock at the sight of the two undead that waited for them. A pair of the Blackscale Knights, amalgamations of Sunscale Warblood bones shaped and reanimated into deadly combatants, bow their heads to Valresko, the semi-sentient undead recognizing his importance. They silently motion for them to follow and turn to walk down the corridor.

Valresko and the yuyut follow and in the halls they pass the undead Sunscale moving about their tasks in sullen depressed silence. Their once decaying forms were repaired, the chitinous plates of Reconstruction merging with their scales as the Blackscale continued to learn how to use Cauldrons with already undead Sunscale without fear of retaliation from the Mother or Father.

His whispered voice startles the yuyut when he suddenly speaks, "Corruption and blasphemy are also powerful tools of conquest, Sur-Quro."

Star Wars thread!

First 5 replies decide the main characters.

If anyone else posts after that, they can be minor characters. Minor characters receive less time in the spotlight and are more likely to die. They're essentially redshirts.

Each player must pick a class and a species. Your class allows you to do stuff that is related to your experiences.

Characters can be of any sentient species (unless their class specifies a species) but they must be affiliated with the Rebellion.

Each major character rolls 1d6 each for strength, agility and intellect. Each minor character rolls 1d4 each.

CLASSES FOR MAJOR CHARACTERS
(limited to one of each)

-Jedi Knight (Select two force powers this character knows. To activate a force power, you must concentrate on the target, lowering your defences against everything else).
-Jedi Apprentice (Select one force power this character knows. To activate a force power, you must concentrate on the target, lowering your defences against everything else).
-Mandalorian (Rolls 1d2 whenever they take damage. A roll of 2 negates the damage).
-Elite Trooper (Starts with 6d6 grenades).
-Smuggler (Choose a light freighter for this character).
-Bounty Hunter (May requisition a peice of specialist gear from the Bounty Hunter's guild up to 3 times per mission).
-Spy (Has a device that can turn them invisible)
-Shapeshifter (Can shapeshift, like Zam Wessel)
-Wookiee Warrior (Can tear people's arms off)

CLASSES FOR MINOR CHARACTERS
(no limit on numbers)

-Moisture Farmer
-Entertainer
-Primitive Warrior
-Trooper
-Jedi Youngling (Knows no force powers)
-Medical Droid
-Astromech Droid
-Protocol Droid
-Battle Droid (Restricted to the basic B1 model only)
-Labour Droid

I will post more info on the setting once the main characters are posted.

Make our main dude a smuggler. We need a ride to be able to explore this galaxy far far away, after all. He's a meek, but smooth talking guy; seems kind of introverted and ill-suited for his role at first until you start talking about his ride or machinery in general in which case you won't hear the end of modifications he's made to his frieghter. He has a mustache and wears a pseudo-uniform like outfit that is nevertheless worn and stained as he doesn't bother to wear anything different when working on his craft.

I assume this is Clone Wars era since there's still Jedi and B1 battle droids.
>>
Mandalorian merc if we're going w/ the smuggler route they seem to be badass enough to roll with us & you can understand them

Maybe will work, but if I have to guess I think will not

You sit on the edge of your motel bed staring out at the dreary world beyond your motel curtains. Rain drizzles down and dark cloud swirl on the horizon, you sigh and lift the plastic cup filled with brandy and take a deep burning sip.

You pull the leather briefcase from under your bed and toss it next to you on the wrinkled comforter before poppingnit open. You look at the contents, a pocket sized leather bound notebook, the dossier on your missing person, the names of local cops who might be cooperative, and your dull black .45 Ruger with a few boxes of ammunition. The essentials.

You read over the case file again. Sandy Bouler, 19, came to this little beachfront with some friends about three weeks back, she emails home and keeps in contact. Starts talking about a new church her and her frends found, everyone is super nice, soon she's talking about nightmares, how the church is different than she thought and as of last week she's stopped sending and replying to any attempts to contact her. Her 3 friends are all missing also with the exception of one Tony Vitso who was found shirtless, bloodied, and speaking an unidentifiable language. He's currently in police custody awaiting transfer to a psychiatric facility. You close the file and take another drink, it took you a few days to drive here and you've just woken up around noon so, no harm in some drinks.

You look at the photo of Sandy. She reminds you of your own daughter, auburn hair, light freckles and beautiful green eyes. You still remember the call you got when your wife and daughter got in the accident, forced off the road into the bay near your house. They never found the car or the bodies.
{-5 Sanity}

The memories of your Rebecca and Lula drive you to finishing off the cup of scotch and putting your side arm in your shoulder holster. You step outside into the rainy daylight and head for your car.

Where to first?

A bird's distant song was there for when you awoke, carried in upon a cool breeze laden with the scent of blooming flowers and running water. It filtered through the veil of ivy which obscurred your view beyond the root-cradled room, accompanied by rustling leaves and the familiar creaking of wood which had come to be synonymous with the feeling of home to you.

Instinctively you had turned away, trying to avoid the harsh rays of sunlight you had grown accustomed to being subjected too when you awoke, but little more than the faintly humid chill of cast shade awaited you. It was one of the few things you remembered before your slowly waking consciousness was allowed to drift gratefully back down to sleep. You can't recall how long you drifted in that state between resting and waking, only that each time you felt yourself beginning to rise back to the surface it was like waking to a dream. A dim and hazy world, where nothing was there to demand your attention, and the responsibilities and stress you had carried seemed so far away.

At times it felt as if someone else was there. A voice speaking quietly, their words muddled and lost to your sleep-addled state. Gentle presences that demanded nothing from you, and were content to leave you alone when you showed no signs of acknowledging them. Leaving you to curl ever deeper into the shade, and the warmth, tenderly concealed beneath a blanket that felt little different from having passed out in the patient arms of a parent long since lost.

When you finally broke that seemingly endless state of limbo, you could only blearily appreciate the hushed silence of your room and the soft trickling of the water flowing along the river far beneath you. Soft vines of ivy wove itself thickly about you, indiscernable from the woven blanket which had been cast aside some time during the night. The room's only door remained shut, and you spent several long minutes just sitting there as the rest of your awareness slowly recollected. It came gradually, with little rhyme or reason to the order of its return. Errant facts and thoughts that you paid little heed to, or hadn't minded in what seemed like forever.

Books you never finished reading. Half formed ideas for teasing Asche. Questions you wanted to ask your aunt the next time you saw her. How long it had been since Caylen had come to visit.

Petty concerns that didn't feel relevant anymore, from a life time ago. Before...

"Ah."

You are Irue Valen, blood heir to House Valen. You can't remember the last time you had felt this rested, but the pieces were slowly fitting back together.

You were still no closer to finding Ari, or figuring out what the meaning of this false world was. You had fallen asleep yesterday, exhausted both from the hard ride here and, though you were loathe to admit it, the weight you had been carrying. You couldn't even remember if your attempts at meditation had born fruit, but given how peacefully you had slept, you would hazard that you had passed out before any progress could be made.

Judging from the gap through the ivy veil, you guessed it was mid-day, which meant you had slept in even longer than you thought... And no one had seemed to mind. There was a note which had found its way to the shelf of your room while you slept, weighted down by a small plate of vegetables, berries and slices of cooked meat that had gone cold well before you woke up.

A yawn interrupted your meager attempts at observation, and you felt even this attempt at waking beginning to flag in favor of the alluring invitation to simply lean back into the constant embrace you found yourself in.

Joined the alien crew that was going to sell you into slavery
Became an engineer for said crew
Made friends with your former security chief (Vasquez) and a fellow engineer (Adams) after you saved his life
Survived your first mission, which was a trap
Gotten Vasquez into a position of command
Got 400 credits
Learn about your captors, a race called Sarqs
You bought a PDA
Took a hit for a Dakiti, a race known for espionage
Bought some armor
Started your second mission
Looted an old military base
Finished the Second mission
Bought a shield
Got hired by a system-state's military

You feel haggard from the last training session. It’s your job to be there, even though you considered just skipping it and just getting the the basics from Vasquez. As you walk into the briefing room on the bridge, you notice the hologram projector is on. The table has a planet floating above it. There’s a couple of small stations highlighted in orbit and a section of coast along the major continent is glowing.

You’re early, only about half the officers are there. They filter in through the next 20 minutes and take their seats. When everyone is there, they stand and salute the Captain. “Be seated,” he say, “there’s thing to be discussed.” Sarak begins to pace up and down the room.

“This is Dimerion, a small unaffiliated farming planet. No official government, no official military. Traders pick up food and drop off equipment. It’s unknown and isn’t on many star charts. The population stands just over 1,000 of mixed species. And it’s ours.”

He motions towards the stations in orbit, “Fighters will secure two of the station, while the ship takes the main station. Absolutely no messengers ships or cargo ships are to leave. Destroy them if necessary,” he says directly to the fighter commanders. “The remaining fighter will provide air support where needed. The dropship will insert two squads into each major population center, six in total. Resistance is expected, though it will little more than militias. Eight squads will be doubled up: Two and Seven, Three and Eight, Four and Nine, Five and Ten. One and Six will secure the two smallest.”

“When full cooperation has been achieved,” he continues, “they too will be ours. Dissidents will be sold away. Any questions?”

He’s planning a planetary takeover, Vasquez was right to be worried about what he had planned. You know the history, sarqs haven’t ever been able to hold together. They’ve always splintered when direct management is unavailable. Then again, not every crew had a light cruiser sitting around with a flight of fighters.

>>Ask questions (What?)
Couldn't we hack their com networks and announce the takeover while ordering all fighting forces to stand down? Could also prevent any scorched earth protocol if they have such things?
>>
You stand, “Sir, how do we stop them from destroying their equipment? Scorched earth? And can we hack their coms down, maybe tell them to surrender?” You sit down while he considers your questions.

He looks at you when he’s done. “They won’t do that to themselves. We block off trade, they destroy their food, and they starve. If they send for food, we intercept and take it until they submit. The coms will be jammed. All wireless communication will be impossible for them. Though any lines they have need to be cut. We’ll have intel on that once we’re in orbit.”

He continues to go on about the geography. It’s mostly cleared land surrounded by dense woodland. There’s a few sparse hills, but it’s mostly flat. Five are near the coast and one is further inland. A network of rough roads run between them. Light manufacturers are in the largest town, though they don’t produce much more than replacement parts for equipment.

You’re given a copy of the briefing and dismissed. There’s still a day and a half until you arrive.
