Roll gets to decide your hero's next action.
Some tasks require skill checks of base skill + specialization + D20 against 10 or 15.
Trips mean instant success and more possibilities, for instance normally you can't just change main character or major location, but with trips you can!

I'll try to post updates as fast as possible.

How dare they mock our lineage!! Go over to those goblins and intimidate them into apologizing or else! (What's the dice?)

Glare and aggressively pretend to drink from our empty mug at them. Or aggressively chew the mug, whichever occurs to drunk us first.

Welcome to Runequest, this is a quest where you work with magical runes to try to eliminate your enemies in an arena.

To look at the map just go to the link above and when there click the "Current map" tab at the bottom right.

Every turn you get to move one square and use one action, you can use an action to move 2 squares, attack, or cast a rune. You can only move to adjacent squares with one move action, you cannot move diagonally without using 2 move actions. You can also only attack in squares you could move to in one move action and an attack deals 25 damage.

There are twelve runes you can acquire and one that everyone starts with. The one everyone starts with is the null rune, it for one mana, fires a projectile that travels 6 squares and deals 10 damage. The other runes are as follows: Space, abbreviated to Spa; Doom, abbreviated to Doo; Breath, abbreviated to Bre; Heart, abbreviated to Har; Rage, abbreviated to Ra; Light, abbreviated to Li; Time, abbreviated to Ti; Life, abbreviated to Fe; Blood, abbreviated to Blu; Mind, abbreviated to Mi; Hope, abbreviated to Ho; and Void, abbreviated to Voi. You do not know what these runes do specifically, but you do know their effects are related to the symbolical meanings of the runes and that they can be combined up to three times to create even more effect, 1884 effects to be precise.

You are Lumnox Sevora, an elven warrior who suffers from severe schizophrenia, hallucinations, and delusions of grandeur. You believe that you are a true hero, and that because you are strong, you should protect the weak. You don’t typically help others because you want to help, nor do you care about rewards or money. Instead you help those in need because you want them to spread the tale of your heroic deeds, and because it’s the right thing to do. Mostly for the fame though.

Unlike other members of your species, you are a lot larger and stronger. Your attractiveness is a given considering you’re an elf. Despite being extremely strong, charismatic, and handsome, you’re not very intelligent or wise, and almost always believe that your hallucinations and delusions are in fact part of reality. Can you become the hero that you believe you are, or will your false reality shatter before your very eyes?

Over the course of this quest you will gain skill points that will allow you to advance your talents and stats.

Disclaimer: So I’m pretty new here, and I don’t know how well I’ll actually do running a quest. Sorry if I make any errors. Also if you have any questions feel free to ask.

During this quest you will be able to pick from various options to progress the story. Combat will be turn based, and I may ask you to roll a couple of dice for me from time to time to see how well your action succeeds or fails.

“Come on and face me dragon!” You shouted as you lunged forward and swung your sword in a wide arc which sliced through the dragon’s tough scale armor like butter. “Your armor is no match for me beast!” The small baby dragon roared in anger and agony as it began to spew fire from it’s maw. Deftly evading the flames you countered by swinging your great sword at it’s neck, completely decapitating the beast. “Mission complete!” Turning around to the quest giver behind you, he seemed to be a lot angrier than you expected. “Cheer up man, you just witnessed me slay a dragon before your very eyes. You should feel honored to have seen such a sight. Go and tell all the townspeople and spread my name far and wide.”

“An honor you say? You completely trashed my house in that fight. Furthermore, you weren’t even fighting a dragon. You were fighting a large lizard. How you even mistook it for a dragon I don’t even know.” The man said as he shook his head in dismay. “You know what, just get out of here. I don’t want to see your face after all the trouble you caused me.” The man said as he reached into his pocket and threw a small gold coin at you which bounced off your chest. “And don’t forget your pay!” Yelled the man in anger.

Picking up the lone coin, you smiled at the man. “Feel free to contact me if you need any more assistance.”
“GET OUT!!!”

And with that the incredible journey of Lumnox Sevora, the delusional hero begins.

"Krall, get down!"

You're tackled to the ceramic tiles by Dae as the first volley of blaster bolts salvos just overheard where you had been standing moments prior. Screams reverberate through the plaza in response. Dae's lithe, muscular form blankets you, her chest swelling into your own with heavy breaths as the adrenaline begins to course it's way into her veins. In a few deft movements, you find her hand in yours -pulling you to your feet. In an instant, you assess the situation facing you.

Several smoking corpses lie unmoving on the ground in the middle of the Octagon, some alien and some human. The twi'lek speaker is nowhere to be seen, apparently either having fled or taken cover as soon as the commotion began. The crowd of mixed alien species is attempting to do the same, although they are surrounded by the nearly dozen gunmen aiming down their barrels for another salvo. You catch an armed man breaking the bonds of the confused, auctioned twi'lek slaves.

The Zeltron man you recognize as your boss appeared equally startled by the sound of discharging firearms, though he doesn't have the luxury of distraction. Just as he seems to recover from being thrown through the broken window of the establish, the nearest of the four Gammoreans slugs him back down to the ground where he lies still for some moments. Two of the Gammoreans look to be drawing their axes as he coughs back to life.

>Attack the nearest of the gunmen with Dae, your boss will have to somehow manage this
>Show up to your boss's rescue, let Dae burn headlong into the terrorists
>Attack the gunmen, send Dae to support your boss
>You have to ignore the plight of these civilians for now, you can't leave your boss in danger like this

Welcome to Old Republic Surveyor Quest. You are Krall Sivron, a Nautolan Surveyor working for the Old Republic in the era just prior to the Mandolorian Wars.

As of the last thread, you landed on Ryloth to search for and report to your boss. In your investigation, you came to realize the plight that catastrophic climate had brought to Ryloth in recent times, and the anger amid some of the populace that came with it. You searched a local bar and taught Dae pazaak, gaining information about your boss's whereabouts in the process. You found his predicted location, but decided to accompany Dae on her own personal journey first. However, you've been cut rather short by an alarming attack...

We rejoin our protagonist in the midst of this ongoing act of terror.

Welcome one and all to Kobold Civ Quest. Ran something like this years ago on /tg/ and, [s]with nothing better to do[/s] because I like you guys so much, I decided to give this another shot on /qst/.

Real fucking simple premise here; You're a group of Kobolds that just recently got your shit kicked in by some other assholes that we'll determine later on, and your whole goal is to find a new place to settle down, recoup your losses, and seek revenge!

Or, you know, end up dying.

Now as is apparently common on this board, I went and set up a twitter for you fucks in case ya'll got questions or if you wanna' check up on the progress of when I'll be postin' again.

Twitter: https://twitter.com/QM_Brush

Dice rolls will be as such.
d10's, or multiples of them, for every basic task and such, and we'll be using Best of 5 because I'm super generous.
d100's will be used for random events and encounters. They can range from finding magical berries to coming across Kobold eating Owls.

So without further ado, let's kick it!

Previously on Kobold Quest: Your name is Khumgrin, you're the newest chief of a group of Kobolds that have just recently been pushed out of their home by some greedy, merciless humans. You've lost many of your kin, and were forced to find a new home in the form of a cave in the swamps.

You chose a war counsel of your most trusted friends, Gex, Tix, and Snas. You went exploring the swamp with Snas, came across a magic ring and a Feywood(magic tree), and then did battle with a Giant Enemy Crab.

Once home you decided you needed to have a reliable resource of food and materials. You sent Vik and Tix to some caves to harvest minerals, and in the course Vik brutally murdered an attacking giant Centipede.

At the same time you improved your abilities with the spear by fishing with Snas, surprising her with your prowess.

And this is where we pick up our story.

Dawn of the 5th day

Giving a light yawn you roll yourself out of your mossy bed, stepping on some poor kobold's tail in the process and getting a nasty look for waking them up so early in the morning. Having a giant snuggle pile might be incredibly comfortable, but it did have its drawbacks.

Tip-toeing your way carefully around the others, you give a quick stretch before heading into your war room, where you find Gex sitting atop the triangular table, many large books at their side as they also read through one of them.

Death to Magi!

Last time, we performed the following (mostly noble) actions:

>Inadvertently released a couple of vicious abominations into the once-prosperous city of Javnazgrat.
>Fought the same mage we killed once already, killed him once more, and found ourselves with more questions than answers at the end of it all.
>Pursued the blood trail left by said abominations; decided to help a senior guardsman named Pyotr chase them down.
>Decided to follow up on reports of an attack at a clinic in the slums; chose to wield a falx over a few other unorthodox weapons.
>On the way there, witnessed a house in the process of burning to the ground. From it emerged an alchemist, who had burned it down by accident.
>Chased the alchemist; decided to spare her and offer her a brief alliance to fight the abominations.
>Entered the clinic and instantly slew a mage, who seemed to be the master of the alchemist you recruited only moments ago.
>Witnessed the alchemist flee from battle like a dirty coward.
>Ascended in power and obtained a new perk which allows us to memorize our holy books, thus assuring that losing them would not harm our ability to learn new antispells.

The Lord has seen it fit to reward you with strength and courage. Where before there may have been some doubt regarding your ability to carry out His will, that doubt has been entirely erased. You have seen to it that the city of Javnazagrat will not suffer the evil of magic with only its incompetent -- and potentially corrupt -- guard force.

The death toll in this city is rising rapidly, and you are the cause. Meting out justice is no longer a choice; you have committed to this cause and you will see it through to the bitter end.

The clinics are renowned for their unlawful collusion. All too often have their meddlings with alchemy yielded life-threatening results. You are witnessing these results firsthand, in the form of two creatures born of nothing more than bitter hatred for mankind.

Alchemists may be glorified drug dealers, clinicians may be scum, and the guards may be corrupt, but the Lord's will is greater than any mortal sentiment.

They will beg for forgiveness once you've saved them.

Here's some more information to help you folks out. I said I'd make maps at some point, so here's one of them!

Some notes:
Black paths = Official/planned
Gray paths = Unpaved/citizen-made (crime is typical in these areas)
Red dot = You

1 = Kongregatny (cathedral and administrative buildings, barracks; high-class and wealthy and their slaves)
2 = Sedlo (lived-in shops, family businesses; low-class employed)
3 = Teprodaja (failing businesses, guard-exclusive weaponsmiths; refugees, a few disgruntled middle-class)
4 = Akciza (once-famous marketplace; corrupt merchants, refugees, estranged non-humans)
5 = Izbeglan Bowels (residential district in a state of disrepair; low-class unemployed, criminals)
6 = Butcher's Block (home to city's once-successful meat industry, taverns; diverse population, mostly low or lower middle-class

--

When He picked you up a minute ago, you felt elated. You still feel a touch of that satisfaction, but you no longer feel the vigor granted by the Lord. Suddenly, the weightlessness of your spiritual journey fades and you return to the fallible world, feeling as though you had just been struck in the gut with a brick.

You nearly collapse. Your force of will keeps you moving, however, and through a few brief lapses in vision you stumble your way into the dark hallway, stamping across piles of herbs haphazardly thrown about by a fleeing clinician.

Before you know it, you're at the end of the hall questioning how you even got there in the first place. It hits you that you haven't had a restful sleep in days, nor have you drunk or eaten anything.

This is horrible. Why must divine power come at such a great cost?

Or is it not the divine power knocking the wind out of you, but rather the realization that you have been active almost nonstop since you embarked on your journey to this accursed city.

Enough groaning. Pyotr could be dead, and every moment spent crying about your condition is a moment not spent assisting him.

He may not appreciate the fact that you left him to fight the alchemist earlier.

[2/2]

>Give me a 1d100 roll for Pyotr's defense as I roll for the svinja's offense. Best of three.

You are Allen Starwind, a starship captain and veteran of the Great Interstellar War. Your starship is old, yet (mostly) reliable, and you must take on jobs in order to bring in enough cash to keep it flying. Last time, you arrived on Thalos, attended a funeral, and learned that your alien friend, Virgo, will have to engage in ritual combat. Good luck, and fair skies.

Fuck yeah, its back

You pace in your room, grumbling to yourself about the current situation. Virgo’s bout of ritual combat against Orion is slated to occur tomorrow morning. Being the guest of honor, you learned that you are also expected to witness the combat. You just got off the phone with Tom, who sounded absolutely pissed at the idea of you spending the night at the temple.

To be fair, you feel just as iffy about the whole situation, but Libra seems trustworthy enough. Walking over to the bookcase in your room, you look at the various volumes, mostly books on thulian history and culture.

You are about to pull one of the books off of the shelf when you hear a knock at your door. Walking over, you open it slowly, seeing a set of thulian eyes on the other side. At first, you almost assume that it is Libra, but you can tell by the color of her eyes that this is somebody else. Opening the door a bit wider, you see that she isn’t wearing the ornate robes that everyone else around here seems to be wearing. Instead, this one wears a simple, brown set of robes with a hood. She carries a small box under one arm, and what looks like a bottle of liquor in the other.

You raise an eyebrow as she speaks. “Good evening, Captain Starwind,” she nods respectfully at you. “They told me to bring you Aries’ writings, as per the will.” She holds up the bottle. “They also mentioned that I should probably bring you something to drink. You didn’t show up for the communal dinner, right?”

“Wasn’t hungry,” you shrug.

“Ah,” she nods quickly. “Right. I’ll just set these on the table in your quarters then?” She gestures to the inside of your room.

>”Actually, I’ll just take them myself.” (ends conversation)
>”That little box is all of Aries’ writings? I kind of expected more.”
>”I don’t believe we’ve met. Are you a member of the Council?”
>”What exactly is in the bottle? I’m a bit paranoid about accepting drinks from strangers.”

You are Lieutenant Richter Von Tracht, tank officer for the army of Strossvald, and right now you’re having an out of body experience with a freakish wizard.

Poltergeist didn’t call himself a wizard, but it felt better to call him such rather than by his true title of soulbinder. Soulbinders were a sect of mysterious people with strange powers brought about by manipulation of the souls of others as well as their own; the concept was still incredibly unclear to you, but that was understandable considering you’d never heard of them until yesterday.

You had been pulled to this bizarre dreamscape by something; Poltergeist, the person sharing this strange hilltop among clouds with you, claimed it had been the Demiphantom you sealed away. You had the feeling that it was actually Poltergeist.

This suspicion was added to by the fact that Poltergeist was telling you, in a roundabout way, that you needed to release the Demiphantom. An action that would be incredibly dangerous to the denizens of the Ilex River Valley and Blumsburgh, where you were stationed.

“Your tricks are growing ever more elaborate,” you growl at Poltergeist, “Let me guess. In order to stop having wacky trips and hearing voices in my head, all I have to do is release this soul eating monster.”

“You may not remember,” you go on, highlighting what you presumed to be feigned ignorance on Poltergeist’s part concerning the situation, “but less than a day ago from my perspective you did indeed want the demi phantom, and seemed quite desperate to make a deal with me to release it. If you’re about to tell me the only way to solve my apparent ‘problem’ is coincidentally by releasing it, I’m going to have a very hard time taking you seriously.”

“Hrm,” Poltergeist thought out loud, “Perhaps it isn’t you that’s early, but rather me. In a strange way.”

Clouds from below rolled up over the hill again. Poltergeist tried to repeat the movements to dissipate them, but the fog thickened before he was finished.

“Ah well,” he sighed, “It seems we’re out of time. I don’t know when I’ll be around, but trust that I will arrive in time to aid you.”

“Your aid is not needed.” You managed to get out just before the clouds became entirely opaque. You felt yourself floating, then falling…

It was morning when you woke up under the bridge. Early morning; the sky was a dim blue and grey, but the sun hadn’t crept up over the mountains yet. Birds sang to one another in tinny melodies over the ponderous flow of the river below you.

Why you were still outside was puzzling. Had Maddalyn left you here to go find help? Had she been intercepted by somebody? Who?

These concerns were laid to rest when you turned the other direction and saw the little redheaded lady curled into a ball with her back to you, deep in sleep.

Maddalyn Von Blum, despite being the daughter of the territorial lord, had an unhealthy mistrust of her fellows. Perhaps she had decided it was better to drag you under the bridge and hide rather than seek help. It was either that or the little thing beside you was actually a bridge troll that dragged you under to eat you.

With what had happened over the past couple of days such a thing was no longer outside the realm of possibility as far as you were concerned.

It was the morning, though, and you had to get back to the barracks. Perhaps even to the manor to see what needed to happen next.

GUYS
we got this universe all ready to go,
but....
theres just one thing missing.
we need a READING STEINER
a way of making sure that everyone remembers what they actually did in spacetime, even with people fucking up the world lines around them.

we have a few tools at our disposal, including:
the beast behind all perceptions, which records the physical space that we inhabit and makes comments about the space we currently exist in.

the dimensionless point, that doesnt do anything and cant do everything, but it can turn.

and a noise field, a 2d plane of infinite size that has a random allotment of particular values over its "surface"

what the fuck do we do?

"You are a man now, and you must take a place in the world"

Your father, a tall, broad man, his rich brown hair beginning to grey with his years. There is no nobility in his face, but the stoic power behind his words is entirely evident to you. You have lived your entire life at the family farmstead, and now it is time for you to leave this place that you have always called home. You are the third son of your father, and your older brothers will remain to care for the man in his old age.

You, however, must set out to build a new life, and a new home for yourself. You will need to find a site, build yourself a new home, and set up some way to keep yourself living. You must marry, must please the gods, and must go on to prosper. The world is open before you, all that remains is for you to decide where it is you will go.

Where do you stand, in this broad and open world, and what is your name?
>Wulfric, A Saxon man, born in the old country, with an eye to travel across the sea to the lands of the Britons? (Realistic, Mostly)
>Megakles, a man of Hellas, born in the mythic age, off to find a name for himself and settle in new land,s if it pleases Aegis Bearing Zeus? (Bronze Age High Fantasy)
>Ambrose, A Briton, born in Britannia in the aftermath of the abandonment of Britain by the Romans. Your family is beset by raiders and crime, and the stream of raiders does not seem to be abating (Hard Mode, Realistic, with some low fantasy elements)

I can get behind this. Though to be honest all three options sound pretty cool.

You are Wulfric, son of Aelharra, and your father's homestead rests in Old Saxony, on the north sea coast. For years you have lived in the ways of your people, owing your worship to Woden and the gods of your people. Your father was a man of little importance, a landowner who made his way int he world through the trade of cows. Your first brother was taught how to run the farm, and his stoic, solid frame has developed as a result, he resembles nothing so much as your father. He will receive all the silver of your father, along with all of the land, but he will have to care for your mother, aunts, and your three sisters.

Your second brother, Aethelstan, learned the trade of a tanner, and his trade has been prosperous. He has his own home in the village nearby, and he deals with all kinds of men. He is yet to be married, but no responsibility will marr his future. He bears only his trade, his home, and when he can get one, his wife.

As your father looks upon you, what trade have you learned that he can take solace in?

>What trade have we learned? (Anything reasonable for a Saxon in the fifth century. This profession will give us the skills to survive on our new Farm)

Quest Intro

You are Mikage Chiba, second year high school student, fifteen years old. You used to be the third woman to carry the mantle of the magical guardian of love and justice known as Sailor Moon, after your mother and older sister. A year and a half ago you had a traumatic experience fighting the corpse of the father of your best friend, struggled victory leaving you thinking you had killed the
man you had set out to save and prompting you to abandon your heritage. More than that, the relating emotional collapse lead you to abandoning yourself. Developing disguises and personas to inhabit and do the things you could not in secret, to live while you let yourself wither, you carried on.

Now you know the truth and have been taking measures to put yourself back together, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones. More than that you’ve been doing your best to support your younger sister, Koyomi, as she has become the fourth to carry the title as Sailor New Moon.

Interlude: Worried

She’s too calm today. With everything that happened last night, she is far too calm today. You don’t pretend to understand the way your friend’s mind actually works and deals with everything that happens to her and those around her, but when she allows you to feel numb to the things that plague you there is no denying that you gain a certain and unique perspective.

Waiting in the hallway during class cleanup, you listen. You had told Sakurada-kun a summation of what happened. That you were worried about Mikage being on the verge of an extended panic attack, or lashing out in some way. Everyone was worried after lunch, except for Umeki-san who carried on unphased. Though your worry took a spike after the confrontation with Nomura-san.

“All I’m worried about is whether or not you’re going to be okay,” Yoshi says from the far side of the wall you lean against as their conversation of long silences seems to end, “And if you’re not, I just want to know what I can do to help you get there,”

So, while he wanted to talk to her alone you opted to cover them in case anyone walked in unexpectedly. With muted emotions you considered your father and the power Mikage has achieved. You worry. You worry she is putting on a brave face now for those of you on the front lines with her. That she’s close to breaking, and she’ll need everyone who cares about her to have the strength to bind those fractures and know when to pull her back.

When to tell her no.

Sakurada-kun is like a balm to her now. Her confession to him, the kind of things you expected her to be holding back at lunch, secures in your mind that if the world is to be saved then she who carries its heart needs be saved first.

Even if she won’t share the depths of it, you’ll do your best to know it. As her friend. As her Knight. As whatever she needs you to be, whether she knows it or not.

Interlude End

Quest Start

“All I’m worried about is whether or not you’re going to be okay,” Yoshi Sakurada offers firmly, “And if you’re not, I just want to know what I can do to help you get there,”

You used to think you didn’t deserve this kind of kindness or patience.

“Sundae,” you repeat with a sure nod.

Earlier, it was easy to talk about all of this to the girls. You were being a leader, you got to feel a bit detached from it all as you made plans and shared information. There will be more of that later and for right now it was good to let the walls down just a bit.

The classroom is clean, everything is put away, and you’re pretty much done here for the afternoon. Grabbing your bag, you send a follow up message to everyone about meeting at the Crowne. Plot out what you know about Amazonite and a potential attack on the Aiba Tournament. Figure out how to approach Hisako Ito about your offer. And just digest the state of things.

After Ice Cream, of course.

“We better not waste anymore time and get going,” you resolve and head to the door, pausing before opening it and taking a moment to grin, “before my sister eats them out of stock,”

It was meant as a joke, just a chance to be light hearted after what heavier things the two of you discussed. Unfortunately it doesn’t setting with you that way and you find yourself frowning.

“Do you need another minute,” he questions as he retrieves his own bag from beside the door, where he left it when he came to speak with you.

“No, let’s go,” you confirm and set off alongside him.

It’s a bit cooler out today, and you’re thankful for the sweatervest of your uniform providing some measure of comfort against that. Together the two of you are able to easily leave the school as various clubs start rallying for their meetings and structured time.

As you’re on your way though,

>Ask Yoshi what happens to his band with Kalunite gone
>Has he made any solid plans on telling his mom of his extracurriculars?
>You want to talk to him about your pending academic withdrawal, and your new uncertainty
>Maybe let a bit of your inner nerd slip, see how he handles you talking manga
>Try and tease him about something, what? Distract from you feeling like a hot mess

It's part of a larger (shady) corporation, they must be doing something with it.
Hey, it they're selling the contracts I wonder if Artemis (the moon cat) is interested in branching out.

Hello again Anons. It's been a long time since last we met. A few years I think. What was it? 5? 6?

I've been busy.

So let's play a game. I've created a little device I like to call the God Machine. Through its power the bonds of reality weaken. Anything and everything becomes possible, from mundane coincidence to the fantastic and dramatic. Its power is now in your hands. Whatever entity you guide may perform great feats at your command. Sounds like fun right?

But what is a game without an element of chance? You see Fate does not like those who meddle in his work. So while your word is reality, there is always a chance that fate will discover your manipulations. Whatever you had hoped to achieve will result in complete and abject failure. Don't worry though. I'll ensure your death, or deaths as it were, will be suitably entertaining.

The rules are simple,
-Roll 2d6 and suggest an action for the character to take.
-If you roll 4+ your action succeeds, no matter how absurd.
-If you roll a 2-3 the character dies in a needlessly cinematic manner.

-Currently the First Post selects the action. Though this may change...

I hope you're ready
It's too late to back out now...

The bright rays of the summer sun slowly lift you into consciousness. You shift in the warm comfort of your soft bed, pulling the sunbaked covers closer to your body. Your eyes open a crack and you glance at the clock on the bedside table. 12:35 reads the digital display. With a start you leap from the bed. Your duvet falls into a heap on the floor. You're late!

You are a 17 year old boy. Your inventory contains nothing. You are wearing only a stained white T-shirt and Boxers. Your Appearance is DISHEVELED. You are currently more than 3 hours late for your shift at the GENERIC SANDWICH SHOP where you work.

What do you do?

You never payed attention in Chronal Mathematics. In fact you slept through every class and half assed the homework. You have no clue how to build a time machine. So you drag a cardboard box out of the basement and write 'Time Machine' on the side. Gods you're desperate. You sit in the box feeling stupid for a minute and then the world sorta falls sideways and you feel like every atom in your body is being stretched around the earth in a complicated pretzel web of you.

And then it stops.

You're sitting in a box in your room. The bed is currently occupied by your TIME CLONE from a while ago. Or are you the TIME CLONE? You aren't really sure. Existential Philosophy is another class you slept through. Still the Clock reads 5:30 AM. That's plenty early. Yeah! You have no idea how that worked but it did and you're awesome!

What do you do?

Your name is Keiichi Hirayama. Your sister is named Airi Hirayama. The two of you are magi—humans with magic and a greater affinity for the Spirit World—and possess a bizzare tendency to cause chaos wherever you two go. Last year, through bullets, explosions and freak accidents, the two of you managed to help interrupt Japan's premier magus academy battle tournament--The Festival of Magic—thrice in a row.

To say that the Ministry of Education is furious would be an understatement. As punishment, they have forced you and your sister to undergo mandatory community service. There are ten tasks to complete and they must be all done by the tournament start date, lest you both be blacklisted from every educational institution and workplace in the entire country. You think it's absolutely retarded, but it seems like there's no choice. You and your sister must step up with your sister and overcome these trials, otherwise your future career will become nothing more than dust in the wind. The eyes of Shibuya and the spirit world are upon you both, so good luck and don't screw this up!

Enhancement: The third category of magic. The name is seen a positive and negative light; enhancement spells improve or reduce the effect of entities. Like Destruction, Enhancement spells are common. Unlike Destruction, they tend to be more subtle. Keiichi Hirayama's Anti-Mana Bullets fall into this category.

Conjuration: The fourth category of magic, also known as Summoning. To summon, to make appear, to bring forth. While Conjuration is used by many to summon spirits from the Spirit World, its applications are not limited to living entities.

morning view 1.jpg
474KB, 1280x720px
[6th of May, 2016 (FRIDAY)]

It’s eight in the morning. The streets of Shibuya are full swing in the early morning rush. Automobiles line the road like metal sardines packed in tins. Children of all ages swarm the roads to their schools, their moods in various states of frustration, hopefulness or terror. You and Airi are conspicuously absent from this. The two of you have decided to skip the morning periods in favour of staring at a cardboard box.

This is entirely your fault. You made the suggestion during breakfast. Airi, being the proper student she is, instantly rebuked, citing the benefits of a good attendance record. It looks good on your resume, the teachers won’t get mad at you, you’ll gain more respect from your peers…the type of stuff your mother made sure to lecture you on back home.

You made the argument that you both needed some time to work on the latest task, to go over the box of stuff the mysterious guy from Lady Sagisawa’s gave you. You thought it was a compelling argument. And it was towards Airi…for about five seconds as she immediately accused you of wanting to commit heinous acts.

“The box of stuff is important, though.” You pointed out.

“More important than our education?” Airi questioned.

“It’s only two periods.”

“I’ve lost count of the number of times you’ve done something like this last year.”

“Look, this is from the government. We can’t ignore it.”

“Oh, now you suddenly care!”

“If I said I’m being regretful, will you calm down?”

“No, I would not believe that! Onii-chan, you just want to skip English because it’s your worst subject!” She declared, hands on her hips, cheeks puffed like little marshmallows. “Also, you got up late and can't be bothered doing anything!”

She wasn’t wrong, but you weren’t about to tell her that.

"You're wrong."

"No, I'm right!"

And thus commenced another of the Hirayama siblings’ infamous arguments. It involved shouting, spittle flying from the lips and you making hand gestures that were reminiscent of a strangling motion. Normally, Akasha-Alea would have chimed in with sarcastic comments that are often more useless than not, but she’s on vacation at the moment. Shesmur definitely inputted a few barks and screeches at some point. He was silenced with a fresh plate of Airi's blood.

Ultimately, you won the argument by pointing out that nobody gives a shit since you’re both the Hirayama Siblings. Seriously, no-one, not even the principal, expects you two to show up on time, despite your decent attendance track record this year. You can chalk this up to a philosophy of True Hearts, which states the best students are the ones who possess the drive to learn. If they want to learn, they will show up to class. If they want to waste their youth, they’ll slack off and that’s their problem to deal with. It’s a rather hands-off approach, similar to how universities are run, but it’s worked for them so far.

“I can’t believe I’m agreeing to this…”

“It’s not like Michiko and Hideki can’t sneak us notes later on.”

“That’s cheating, onii-chan.”

“No, it’s friendship.”

Also, it’s because you and Airi have a reputation for ditching class half-way or not showing up at all.
Again, it’s mostly your fault. There was shit (read: incidents) to do last year and attending classes were last thing on your mind back then.

>>Keiichi: Review cardboard box.

It’s the size of a large violin case covered in pink wrapping paper and heavy as a sack of rice. You dumped it on the living room table last night and haven’t touched it since. It’s also related to the fifth task. A researcher from Lady Sagisawa’s School of Knowledge, codenamed ‘C’, called you and informed that your job was to safeguard the contents of the cardboard box for a week and a half. This is all simple stuff. Come on, don’t tell everyone you’re already forgotten about it!

>>Keiichi: Open cardboard box.

Airi beats you to the punch. She runs her hands across the surface, then gets to work ripping off the wrapping paper. With her DEXTERITY, it takes less than ten seconds. Now that the seals off, you can open it. You waste no time in doing so. Inside is…

“This is so weird…” Airi mutters.

“What the heck are these?” You grumble.

The objects inside the box are ‘interesting’, which what you would say if you were a polite young man. Since you aren’t, you think they’re random junk. Puzzled, you and Airi carefully lift the objects from the box and arrange them on the table in neat rows. They all radiate faintly with magic.

So a while ago I dabbled in a quest that simulated the political climate of interwar germany, with player-controlled political parties and a general GSG vibe. I was wondering if anyone was interested in trying to hold something similar again. I can do QM, if people want to, but I'd like to make sure there's interest before I actually engage with making maps or electoral systems.

If interest, anyone interested in trying another nation than Germany, or should we stick with the number 1 political shitstew of the interwar period?
