Ever thought of making a quest yourself?

Already done so. Stardust Wuxia Quest. Basic premise is Wuxia in Stardust CYOA setting. Did a prologue edition to test waters but did it on a Sunday night so I had to cut it short. Next thread is coming up Saturday morning or evening CST, and I'm absolutely terrified.

Absolutely. Still in planning stages since I really don't wanna bail at the beginning (or halfway through) and I also wanna make sure I do all I can to make sure I don't end like one of those quests that someone has clearly put at least SOME effort into and just nobody plays.

You feel yourself floating through an endless void, your body feeling the damage from the last battle. You are also full of regrets. You think about your broken promises. To Hailey, to Grey, your oaths to both Empire and Clan.

Time lost its meaning upon you. You've tried counting the seconds to get a frame of reference. It doesn't help. And then you see a figure ahead. As you approached closer, you see Summer, the AI of your ship. She's saying something to you, but the distance is far enough that you still can't hear her.

Your body speeds up the closer you get to Summer. You tried to slow down, but your body won't listen to you. Just as you are about to hit her, you hear her speak. "Admiral. Wake up."

Bright light overwhelms your vision

Your body drops onto the floor from 10 meters high. It hurts, your first feeling in what feels like forever. As your vision adjusts, you turn around to see yourself at what you think is the reactor core of your ship. You think, because you are pretty sure that your reactor is usually covered in an titanium alloy, not organic metal, and definitely not pulsing like a heart of a void whale.

Sounds behind you attracts your attention. Eight insectoid beings are approaching a corner, their backs facing you. You don't recognize them, but you know an intruder when you see one. A woman's scream rings out from the corner.

A terrible pain, as if your entire body had been broken open and forced back into shape, haunts you as you roll over onto your back. Gazing up at the sky, your hazy vision settles on a raised hand. Your hand, with a sliver of broken glass speared through the palm. With a kind of macabre fascination, you watch as the dagger is pushed out of your flesh, the wound closing itself up soon after. It's always like this, leaving nothing behind but a faint tingle. No scars, no markings, no proof that the wound had ever been there in the first place. Just a memory, and those fade quickly enough.

Then, looking past your hand, you see the night sky falling down upon you. Feeling reality snapping back into action, you throw yourself up and back, somersaulting away from the ruined car mere moments before the Intruder crashes down. Already a crumbled wreck, the car is smashed to unrecognisable scrap in an instant. Barely slowed, the Intruder rises up to face you. Protean shadows flow, occasionally reaching out with grasping hands or opening up with staring eyes, but the core form remains the same. Hunched, like an oversized gorilla, and bluntly headless. It towers over you, of course, but they always do. Even without a head, a mouth, it manages to howl at you, loud enough to rattle the windows around you.

Surviving that fall took a lot out of you, drained a lot of your power. Not all of it, though – you've got more than enough to launch a counter attack. Shifting your weight into a fighting stance, you prepare for battle. Calling upon the magic you have been endowed with, you summon your weapon.

It's not the first weapon you've ever held – that weapon is long gone, a bitter reminder of what happened back then – but it's still a weapon. It might not sit quite right in your hand, it might not feel like an extension of your own body yet, but it will have to do.

Mary and Morrigan are both wearing their black dresses, Mary with a long dangly necklace and Morrigan with some silvery bracelets. Cath has another long necklace, this time in gold to go with her red dress. Sarah is in her blue with more silver and white shiny things, with Bellona and Nem in white with more gold. Koko herself is in black, which is a change from her normal white suit.

Bellona and Mary both have tall pointy shoes, as does Koko. You can’t see what Nem is wearing, but Cath and Sarah both have smaller and less pointy shoes on. Morrigan is wearing nice looking shoes, but they’re flat like normal. Everyone is also wearing dangly things on their ears.

When asked again, you agreed that they all looked good, even Morrigan.

The plan for the night was relatively simple. Koko had her people doing things around the building the party was in and the nearby area. MMS was supposed to pair off and watch her for the night, as well as deal with any other issues that might arise during the party. There wasn’t supposed to be any issues, but there might be.

Granting gifts

Appearing to mortals
>Appear to mortals: 1+ points. But interacting with mortals requires an investment of acts.

Any of these properties can be diminished or done away with for the sake of appearing more worldly.

Creating artifacts
>Creating Artifacts: 2 or more points depending on significance. Something simple like a magical weapon would cost 2, something more powerful like an ever present weather pattern could cost 4, and something as complex as a medallion that grants a divine sphere to the wearer would cost 8.
>Artifact manufacturers: An artifact manufacturer can be any cost from 4 points up, artifacts created by it have their base cost multiplied by their base cost divided by the base cost of the artifact manufacturer. So it can create artifacts half its cost for half cost and create artifacts one fourth its cost for one fourth cost and so on.

Alternate planes of existence
>Creating an alternate plane of existence: 5 points. This will be enough to create any plane that does something simple. For instance, an afterlife to dump souls into. And it can be a pleasant afterlife, or a hellish one. They can be completely separate from the other planes of existence, such as the mortal or ethereal plane. Or be so close that the two planes can interact with each other in limited capacities. Such as a plane filled with the souls of the departed being close enough to the mortal plane as to create ghostly images of the dead in the land of the living, or vice versa.
>Alter the rules of a plane of existence: 3+ points. Some planes of existence may require their rules tweaked as time goes on. Or will simply require a larger act investment to accomplish what you want them to do. 3 acts will allow you to rewrite the laws of a plane of existence.
>Create things in an alternate plane of existence: 1 point (usually.) Because these planes of existence are presumed to be mostly not interacting with the mortal realm, 1 point will get you almost whatever you want to create. However, the closer they are to the mortal plane, the more things will cost.
