Dear Hiro, please delete /a/ and create a new board for both eastern and western animated cartoons.
Let's call it:
> /ca/ - Animated cartoons
(Discussions about manga will take place on /co/)
Anime is dying and is losing popularity here on 4chan. Creating /ca/ might be the only way to save the dying anime community on this site.
Let's not forget that the japanese make no distinction between animated cartoons. To them they're all anime, regardless of geographic origin. Let's adopt that mentality here too.
Animated cartoons, nothing else.
We want /ca/!
That is so fucking godawful
No one on both /co/ and /a/ would want that
>/a/utist constantly shitposting in /co/ threads
>/a/ mods favoring the /a/utist
This is such an awful idea
So in your opinion, the biggest problem with /co/-/a/ is /a/?
/a/ is roughly twice as big as /co/ and actually has maintained a rather constant activity level over the last like 6 months. /co/ is in gradual decline in activity over the same time period despite shitty meme shows like Star and Steven Universe making waves on it and all the comic book movie shit also buoying the board. Unlike a perception /a/ is simply a bit lower in quality compared to the last two years, a common view is /co/ has had it far worse with its old self utterly destroyed and taken over by tumblr/leddit.
Suffice to say OP has literally no idea what he's fucking talking about and pulling incredibly stupid ideas out his ass. Combining /a/ and /co/ is one of the worst things you could possibly do. They would get along like oil and water.
Forcing this "/a/ / anime is dying" shit is a farce. You know what's actually dying? Fucking most of 4chan. Many boards have like 2/3rds or less the traffic they did in 2013, with some boards (like /v/) holding stable at best. /pol/ and /int/ are the only boards that bucked this trend so they naturally spike relative to everything else. That being said /int/ is only slightly bigger than /a/ and seems to have petered out.
Id rather /co/ be tumbr trash then have /a/ come in and continue to shit everything up desu
OK now you're being too obvious. /a/ would go fucking massacre /mlp/ if they were in the same space. If you want to combine boards like cockfighting then why not pitch /sp/ and /tg/ while you're at it, or /sci/ and /x/, or /his/, /lit/ and /pol/.
>/a/ has standards
Why on earth would anyone who actually knows 4chan worth a shit think that's a bad thing? Do you not think about what that implies?
5 years ago /v/ used to make fun of the Halo/GoW/CoD crowd. Now it unironically discusses these and how has the board overall gotten as a result? Worse.
/co/ used to put its foot down on tumblr shit. Then got taken over by it. What do they have now? Endless general circlejerks full of shipping and even RP bullshit. It got worse.
Eons ago, people used to insist they make an effort to be funny or original on /b/. I am talking like ten+ years ago. Standards got lax and now the entire board is porn/rate me/"my gf"/roll threads. It has not produced something original or funny in what.. Has it really been ten years? Feels like it, or it is at least close to that.
>tl:dr standards are what keep boards alive and more importantly the camaraderie of the users. If the users are indifferent to each other in standards and the board community dies, everything just gets worse
People complaining about "elitism" aka community standards are the fucking cancer supreme of the site. We need more of that, not less.
That's not the point fuckface. You are entitled to think Naruto or Wan Pisu is the epitome of anime, sure, but you'll still get ridiculed as fuck if you're vocal about it. It should be the same way everywhere else.
The funny thing is that I have seen similar suggestions on /co/ a couple times, not to mention people saying things like "Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is more /co/-related than /a/-related" without even explaining why. Some people say /co/ has strict mods but they tend to overlook many things.
>We want /ca/!
No I don't.
>Anime is dying
>My idea also means that /co/ becomes a board for comic books and manga only.
Splitting anime and manga is silly since most anime are derived directly from manga unlike western comics and western cartoons which are often their own separate IPs with crossover media that are loosely based on them.
wait, so now you want to mishmash /co/, /a/, /mlp/, and /vp/ into one singular board?
That would be like setting off an H-Bomb on 4chan. There would be rampant shitposting on pretty much every page, /mlp/'s and /vp/'s writethreads would die off, there would be constant infighting, and all four board cultures would eventually just ask for their boards back.
Let's face it, this would be like asking for a United Europe or a United Africa. Hell, it would be like asking for a United any continent.
On /mlp/, we already do that. Anyone who says that they unironically like EQG is immediately berated because ">no hooves" and "eww it's all human and shit".
It's already happening, anon.
